This healthy Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant has two locations in Houston, this one occupying a spacious spot in the Plaza in the Park strip center. The differentiating factor from the many other similar concepts is that Craft Pita uses organic ingredients and sources locally, has plenty of vegan options, plus their olive oil is imported from Lebanon, where the founder's family owns an olive orchard. We ordered take-out, but the wait was around 10-15 mins, so we had plenty of time to take in the sleek and bright design and notice the outdoor patio space. I selected a Hummus Bowl with Rotisserie Chicken, which their website advertises as marinated for a day in a mix of 13 spices. The hummus itself was on the flat side and lacked complexity on the palate. The whole chickpeas, pine nuts, parsley, and Aleppo pepper were fantastic additions though that were unique. The toum/garlic aioli was fantastically savory and creamy. The pickled turnips and red cabbage added some acidity and crunch, respectively. The chicken, however, was surprisingly bland and didn't impress me much. Overall, a healthy and satisfying meal, but not one that I would necessarily write home about - a 3.5/5 in my book. read more

I am not sure where to start. I really like this place they were very attentive the food was very fresh and I love that they had patio seating. They also had wipes so you can wipe down your table we chose to sit outside. My salad was very delicious, very fresh, and tasted really really good. After a landing at the airport, my family and I decided to come here to satisfy our Mediterranean food craving. We walked in, the place had a pleasant atmosphere and wasn't very crowded at all. The woman who took our order was so nice. She was patient with how much food we were ordering and gave us recommendations. Overall, the service here is excellent, and the food is decent. The food doesn't impress me too much, but I don't think you would be disappointed if you stopped by for a quick lunch. Hot Shared Plates: Roasted Cauliflower- The cauliflower had a bite to it, perhaps a bit too much. It could have been cooked a little longer, but the seasoning and flavor was good. Seasonal Shared Plate: Mezze Sampler - I definitely recommend this sampler platter for parties that want to try everything in the shared plates portion of the menu. The spicy hummus was my favorite because it had a small kick and some texture from the crispy chickpeas. Pita Sandwiches: My sister and I ordered the chicken pita and the falafel pita, and they were decent. We both liked the chicken pita better because the falafel pita was filled with more vegetables than falafel, making the sandwich not that enjoyable. Craft Pita is a great little fast casual Mediterranean food restaurant that has really built up a devoted following from the surrounding neighborhoods. The restaurant is nestled in a strip center off Fountainview, near the HEB on San Felipe. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating, and have a sign posted that they're dog friendly for outside diners. You order at the register, then take a number and wait for your food while the open kitchen design shows everyone rushing around tossing your food together. Service has always been excellent and the owner's family appears to be closely involved in the day to day, so there's familiar faces you'll see and get to know the more you visit. For lunch, they offer pita sandwiches of various kinds, deconstructed bowls, salads, shared plates/appetizers, and even whole rotisserie chickens. There's a separate section for Dinner but I haven't been for that portion, so can't make any comment there. Most lunches I've had, have all been good, hence the 4 stars. Bear in mind that it's fast casual though, and if you bring that expectation you'll be happy. Overall worth a stop in if you live nearby and haven't checked them out yet. Walking into Craft Pita during Covid you'll feel very safe. There's wipes entering in the restaurant as well as hand sanitizers everywhere, even in the restroom. The please was pretty much spotless.. We walk towards the counter and place our order, the staffs was very helpful and friendly. We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken, beef pita, falafel and hummus as well. Their specialty drink was the rose water lemonade which we had order as well. We sat down and the server bring us our food.. everything looks well plated and smells so good. The rotisserie chicken was so flavorful and moist. The garlic dip was yummy and their house made hot sauce was to die for. The amount of food we got was well enough of 8 people plus. The potatoes are always perfectly cooked the chicken is always tender and the veggies are always fresh like I tried it for my first time! The fries are a side but definitely needed!!! I am BIG on fries. These fries are so good you can let them get a little cold, come back they're still good crunchy and fresh tasting. I experimented and they are the kind that you can reheat (over or microwave) and they're still good like they're fresh out the fryer!!! Their hummus **spicy specifically** is something I hardly deny myself it's so darn delicious and their pan is so fresh and warm every time!!!!! Overall the staff was nice, the place was clean and our order was ready when we got there. * 1/2 bird: The pictures look like the chicken is fresh and tender. Our chicken was dry and tasted very old. IDK if it's because it was Sunday and they prepared a lot of chicken that didn't get purchased, but we were not impressed. In fact we were disappointed. It's a cute little place to have lunch or dinner. It's a clean place with local ingredients and friendly staff. I dropped in during dinner time and wasn't disappointed. When you walk in you get in line to make your order, get a number and then sit at a table. I tried the cheese flatbread which was quite good. It's a great appetizer to share among two people. It isn't large but it is filling and very tasty. I also had the kombucha which unfortunately had been shaken so when I opened it, it bubbled over. I got the chicken bowl which was good and also filling. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I like the portion sizes since they're not too small but also not too much that you overeat. The owner came by to make sure everything was ok which was nice. Some of her friends happened to sat down for dinner and she offered them hummus and others things to try. I'll try to order the hummus next time I visit she seemed excited to offer it t I also got their pistachio cookies which come prepackaged. They were quite good. My boyfriend doesn't like pistachios and still enjoyed the cookies. Update: came by again for a serving visit and it was even better than the previous visit. I recently checked out Craft Pita after eyeing it for a while and it was SO. GOOD. The food here is very delicious, authentic, and flavorful. The ingredients they use are colorful and fresh and I love how overall healthy the cuisine is. I ordered the chicken bowl with Lebanese rice and my friend ordered the 1/2 bird rotisserie chicken with a side of roasted cauliflower and we shared a side of falafel with tahini sauce. Our favorites were the falafel and I also really enjoyed the chicken bowl. Their sauces are also amazing and we got the garlic aioli with our dishes. Definitely one of my new favorite places to eat, and the portions are pretty big considering how inexpensive the dishes are. Next time I want to try their beef bowl! The ambiance inside is also super cute + modern and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is super friendly and the food came out very fast. The place has a good amount of seating, its ambience is more casual, and the level of noise inside is not too loud. The employees are also very nice and understanding! You can tell that the restaurant backs humanely bred and sustainable values. My friends and I got two falafel rice bowls, a chicken rice bowl, and baba ganoush. I'd say the food was warm and flavorful, but would recommend not charging for the hot sauces atleast as it's a smaller portion. However I really liked the garlic sauce and hot sauce with my meal. The falafel is some of the best I've had as it wasn't super crumbly, but it was freshly made and easy yet crispy to cut into. The rice pilaf was okay, I'd like to see if they could incorporate yellow pilaf as I find it tastier. I would say what's good and different about their bowls is that they add "authentic" sides such as pickled veggies, taabouleh, and such - as compared to regular cucumber and tomato at competitor restaurants. The portion sizes are just right for one meal, so I don't expect people to take it home for seconds. They offer pita on the side and I think it's a great portion size for it. You order at the counter, get a number and they bring it to you, they also check on you from time to time and bring you what you need, we wanted some extra yogurt sauce and got it with a smile....I think he was smiling under the mask. It was all very tasty. I got the hummas, babaganoush, tabuleh, and olives, and veggies, falafel, fries, and pita bread for dips. They did not send the ordered pita bread, and the fries were very cold, but the dips were excellent and falafel was still warm. I tried the tahini blonde brownie and thrkish brownie as well. I've eaten in person + gotten take out multiple times! I would recommend the family whole chicken meal or just the chicken + fries/pita. They give you a giant platter of fries and the only problem is it's hard to hold yourself back from eating it all. I also love the chicken rice bowl- just wish I could swap out the sides because I don't like their tabbouleh or pickled veggies that much..any chicken dish of theirs is good because the chicken itself is juicy and well marinated. The hot sauce is bomb!!! My one complaint about this place is that the pita bread isn't very good. It's not the doughy soft kind- it's dry and thin...pretty sad about that because everything else is so good but they need to use some fresher pita bread to pair with the food! If there was lower than a one-star rating, that is what we would give. We had a miserable lunch there and will never go back. Only three other diners in the place so I don't know how long they will be there. Chicken pita had some mystery ground up meat unlike any chicken I had ever consumed plus it was cold. Literally cold like it was just out of freezer or refrigerator. I had to send it back and it came back with the wrapper melted to the tortilla (yes, more of a tortilla than any pita I had ever consumed). It was more like a flavorless burrito than a pita. The fries were spiced with something; they would have been better left alone! Beverage dispenser was mis calibrated and soft drinks were almost all carbonated water. It was expensive for lunch and, given the quality, it was outrageously priced. The workers were surly and not particularly helpful or communicative. There is, unfortunately, nothing good I can say about this place. I look forward to trying the next establishment at this site when Craft Pita shutters its doors. read more
