The wait to be seated didn't seem very long and our food was out quick. However, I do think that there are a few kinks they need to work out so things can run a little more smoothly. My husband and I shared combo A: 1/2 lb of snow crab with 1/2 lb of headless shrimp. We seasoned it "boom" style which just means all 3 flavors combined (Cajun, buttery garlic, and lemon pepper) and mild. The flavor was great, although the shrimps were a little salty. The crabs were perfect because you could just dip the meat in the drippings. The crabs seemed of good quality, because I could crack the legs quickly and cleanly without a cracker. The potato was a nice unsalted contrast to the seafood. My kids ordered the shrimp basket. It looked good, but I didn't get to sample. Also ordered the fried calamari which was ok. But we were so hungry, we inhaled them regardless. We visited on their second day of a soft opening. The staff is still unpracticed, but with time, I'm sure the kinks will get worked out. I ordered an extra side of coke slaw because there aren't very many vegetables on the menu. It tasted like a cole slaw version of potato salad. Not bad, but not what I expected. I always order a seafood boil. Crafty crab stays consistent in the taste and quality of their boils which is a major plus. My favorite part is the sauce! It's not super greasy or too buttery...it's just right!My only complaint is that their spice level isn't that spicy to me. Service is great and fast, even when busy. I am a fan of the seafood boil, different seafood cooked in a variety of spices and butter. So I was excited to finally try the Crafty Crab (which I kept calling the Krusty Crab- shoutouts to Spongebob!). My friend and I went during lunch but decided to get the small platter so we could both try all of our favorites at once. The seafood was good and fresh. And the platter gave a lot of food. It would have benefited, however from sitting in the seasoning longer. All of the sauce sunk to the bottom, so it wasn't until we got to the bottom of the plastic bag that we really tasted the full flavor. And there were not enough corn and potatoes in the bag. We were there on July 2nd with our son, his wife and 3 little ones (3, 4 & 8). At no time did our waitress mention that we'd be charged 18% because of the number in our party. She brought us unsweetened tea for sweet and nothing for cracking the crabs nor picking meat out! Everytime we needed anything, she was nowhere to be found! I can't review the food, because we left . The hostess was unfriendly and seemed to be bothered she had customers. The menu is limited, and does not give much description. For example, the menu lists shrimp salad . Ok, what's in it? Lettuce? Tomatoes? Even the boils don't say what they come with. The place was empty, yet we sat there for 10 minutes without drinks or any coming to the table. The restaurant looks like what a night club would look like in the day time. I'm disappointed with my experience here. I ordered a half dozen raw oysters and the fried fish fillet combo with onion rings. The fish came out 30 mins before the oysters. The bartender apologized repeatedly, not knowing the reason for the delay. The fish was good. The onion rings mediocre. When the oysters finally arrived they weren't separated from the lower shell. The bartender told me this was their protocol. If so, leaving the patron to finish the shuck is a bad protocol. The cocktail sauce seemed to be only ketchup and way too much tabasco. No horseradish. We have our own version of Joe's Crabshack! Had been looking forward to eating at this restaurant, particularly since I had been on the lookout for the opening. Finally got the chance to get there. Pleasant hostesses; felt welcome when we walked in; had about a 15 minute wait; very nice and attentive waiter. Our food was out within 15 minutes of ordering. We started out with the fried calamari, which I wasn't too impressed with in that it had a more than desired "fishy" taste. We also ordered wings (very good). The rest of our meal was delicious. I ordered the shrimp boil (mild Cajun seasoning) - included potatoes and corn on the cob - and a salad. My husband ordered the fried shrimp basket and onion rings. Enjoyable atmosphere; has a bar area and few televisions; spacious seating (not cramped at all). We intend to come back again and again. I may give the calamari another try. :-) read more

This review is based solely on service, or the lack thereof. Absolutely atrocious to be in a restaurant 40 mins and to barely have received water. As someone who lives in a larger city, it amazes me how tolerant people are with such mediocre service. Just awful. Close your doors if you can't offer quality service. read more

Service was very poor. Our server did not handle our large birthday party well. We requested another server to accommodate our party. The manager came out to help take the orders but did not see her again. The waiter had so many verbal stupid responses to not bringing the requested items back ie forks Crackers for the crabs. Mix up all the food orders. It was horrible. Did not come to check on us. I had to get up as a guess to the party to request table clean up so we could continue with the cake cutting. The sad thing is the tip was applied and he did not deserve it. I requested to remove it from my bill. The manager did so but reply the reason for only one waiter "no one wanted to split the tips for the table". It appeared that the manager did more work than the staff and she is allowing to much play from her staff. I request that all customers from that table tip be removed from the bills. This place had a amazing boil. I got snow crab, shrimp (no heads), sausage... delicious! The prices seemed very reasonable. I went for lunch and got sauce all over my dress, but that is on me. I tried the boom sauce and highly recommend it. The hush puppies and cloe slaw was just ok, but who goes to a boil place for that? As a staunch coke fan I was a tiny bit bummed about them serving pepsi. (again, small potato compliant) If you like seafood boils I highly suggest the crafty crab! Might as well go to Capt D's because you'll get the same quality for a small fraction of the cost. This place is very pricey considering how shit the product is, don't expect anything decent when ordering crab legs, clams are less than mediocre, and everything else follows suit. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much and was prepared to be disappointed. However, it was the birthday girl's choice, and I wanted to be a good sport about it. Well...! What a nice surprise! Three of us had Seafood Boils, one had Blue Crabs, one had Fried Shrimp, and one doesn't eat seafood but decided to be a good sport by gracing us with his presence. My Seafood Boil with Crab Legs, Shrimp and Corn was delicious! The Shrimp was not overcooked, which could have ruined half the meal for me. My only criticism is I wish they supply pickers to scoop out every bit of the crab. I'll bring my own next time. One of our party is from Louisiana, and was surprised that the crawfish was almost as good as her mama's! I liked how the Boil was served in a large paper bag. It was easy to eat, but of course the mess is unavoidable. Moist tissues were provided for the finale. It was really a fun first-time experience for all of us. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and that's saying a lot because we are generally a picky group. Disgusting. Two of us ate there, two of us got sick. I arrived before my friend and was quickly seated at a table. Everything in me screamed leave but my friend arrived and because we were both anxious to get lunch over with we stayed. We both ordered the blue crab which the server assured me would not be difficult to crack and pick. It was delivered in a large air filled plastic wrapper on a tin plate with a 2 inch lip. Presentation was very pretty and encouraging, however, after opening the plastic I realized the crab was swimming in their version of seasoning....A brownish red liquid with lots of oil that got everywhere no matter what efforts I made to stay clean. they provided plastic bibs and gloves which helped. The crab was very difficult to crack and pick, I should've known better. I don't think the crab made us sick, I think the combination of the crab being inescapably soaked in the liquid seasoning and the garlic dipping butter it is what upset my stomach. I used some of the butter, my friend tried it and chose not to. She wound up throwing up that night and the next day missing a paid day at work. Terrible experience, won't be back read more

Came here expecting quite a lot based on the exterior and the location. I was sorely disappointed. The gumbo was ok, but had some old okra in it. It was so tough I had to spit it out. The fried oysters tasted like they were freezer burned and they had visible breading (undercooked) on them. I tried 3 and left the rest. My friend ordered snow crab without seasoning and a side of corn. The sent out crab with a seasoned butter and potatoes. The waitress would look at us waving to her and just walk away. Before she would bring the corn, the waitress asked for the potatoes back. Okay? They weren't ordered so take them. The only real positive was that the crab was cooked just right. The service was underwhelming, our waitress couldn't answer pretty simple questions about the menu items (ie: does the gumbo have okra?)The food itself was lack-luster, which was a bummer because it wasn't incredibly busy. Ended up playing it safe with the fried shrimp basket, and I would probably have preferred to pan fry some frozen shrimp from a grocery store. Elected to get sweet potato fries and they were pretty cold and soggy. Personally, I'll avoid this place moving forward. Calamari: Poor, dried, stringy, thin, breading dried out from over cooking Coleslaw: pretty finely chopped but pretty good and not too sweet thankfully I doubt we'll return any time soon, but if we do, we'll stick with boiled or steamed. On 12/22/19, this was my first time visiting Crafty Crab. I have heard mixed reviews about the restaurant, so I wanted to try it for myself. We were seated right away and the waitress was very nice. Great right!!! Then on to the food....the crabs and the shrimps were over cooked. The shrimps were over cooked to the point of rubbery. I explained this to my waitress and I still paid for my food which was over $90 for two people. My waitress advised me to talk to upper management on Monday. I called and spoke with Jeremy. He told me that It was nothing he could do about it and there was no way to track my order. I explained to him what was advised and also told him I have my receipt. However, my friend got the fried oysters and they absolutely tasted awful. Neither of us could finish even one of them. The decor of the establishment was very pleasing! The layout of the restaurant is kept similar to Crispers with the booths. The service provided was beyond expectations. There were bibs, gloves, & hand wipes! I was very pleased to have these provided. For my first visit, it was with my friends. One ordered the 1/2 lb snow crab legs with "the BOOM" (mixture of 3 flavors: Cajun, garlic butter, & lemon pepper) & medium spice. I also ordered the boom flavor, but on 1/2 dozen of steamed oysters. Yes I know I know... we're currently in the month without an "r" in it, August. I risked it. Although, I have to say that I was very disappointed in the size of the oysters I received. They were a size of a quarter once forked out. Do not let the shells fool you. Luckily, I ordered a side of hush puppies so that helped with filling up my appetite. I ordered the the snow crab and shrimp with the medium "Boom" seasoning with a side of sausage. It lacked spice so I would go for hot the next time. The flavor I tasted most was butter. The leftovers the next day tasted much better. We went 2 days after it opened so the service was really slow but my server was nice. I think this restaurant needs about a month or two to hire more staff and work out the kinks but overall a pretty descent first time. We will come back in a month or so.
