I first used Revive Auto Care to replace a control arm on my Infiniti QX60. I found them on Yelp, appreciated their positive reviews, and liked that they communicated over text. That repair went well, so when my AC started blowing hot air, I decided to return. They initially charged me $100 for diagnostics and a refrigerant top-off, then told me I needed a new compressor and quoted approximately $1,200. I dropped the vehicle off on Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday, they still had not identified the issue, but they continued replacing parts including the compressor, condenser with receiver drier, premium line kit, secondary rear AC expansion valve, blend door actuator, cabin filter, and recharged the AC system. By Friday, the vehicle was still not repaired, and they ultimately determined that the battery was bad and not providing enough amperage to properly run the AC system. They replaced the battery and told me the issue was fixed, which naturally made me question whether all of the previously replaced parts were actually necessary. The total had also increased to approximately $2,500, and at no point during the process was I contacted for approval on the additional repairs and charges. When I picked up the vehicle Friday evening, the AC was still blowing hot air. In addition, the vehicle was revving abnormally both while driving and while sitting in neutral. It is now Tuesday, and my messages have gone unanswered. On Saturday, I brought the vehicle to Infiniti for another opinion. I was told that the AC system had been overcharged by 1.73 lbs of refrigerant, which they said was causing the issues I experienced after picking the car up. I understand that diagnosing AC problems can be difficult and unexpected issues can happen, but the lack of communication, failure to request approval for major additional repairs, and returning the vehicle in worse condition than when it was dropped off made this a very disappointing experience.

They completed my oil change quickly, but what really impressed me was that they took the time to point out that my key fob battery was getting low before it became a problem. The biggest surprise was when I mentioned I had been struggling to reconnect my phone to my car's Bluetooth. The manager came out, took a look, and had it connected in less than two minutes! That level of customer service went far beyond what I expected during a routine oil change. It's rare to find a business that's not only fast and knowledgeable but also willing to help with something completely unrelated just because they care about their customers. However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

He kept the car overnight, ran tests, and could not find any problems, which is what I thought. At any rate, for a small inspection fee, I feel so much better about the car. I was having difficulty finding a place open nearby that could replace a specialized light bulb for my car, and I happened to drive over to Honest-1 Auto Care. Not only were they able to squeeze in an appointment for me, but they also helped me feel reassured that everything would work out...and it did. I stopped by a few weeks later when I had a light appear on my dashboard where I thought something may be wrong, but it turned out to only be my fluids were low. The Honest-1 Auto Care team came out and looked at my car, refilled my fluids at no cost, and then told me to head over for a regular check up (which I did a week later at my dealership). They also fit this appointment in between their busy day of appointments. They follow-up as needed (by calling you when your car is ready), and they are honest (thus their name!) and will let you know what you really need and what you do not need. Our family is from San Diego and on Friday August 23, 2024 we were traveling through Phoenix en route to Flagstaff to take a daughter to college. During our time in Phoenix, our minivan broke down (low battery indicator on instrument cluster). AAA road side assistance was helpful in identifying the alternator as the likely source of trouble as the battery appeared to be fine. AAA roadside service referred us to AAA Paradise Valley Auto Repair Center, where I spoke with store manager Jose Benavides. Jose was great, he understood our frustration with a car issue away from home and assured us that while his shop was busy he certainly wouldn't turn us away. With some basic information about the car, over the phone Jose was able to work up a preliminary estimate that was fair, and by the time we had the car dropped off for service that day, Jose knew what parts would likely be needed and was confident the car would be ready the next day. We then continued to Flagstaff that same day, using other transportation. On Saturday I received a call that the car was ready. Jose stated that the technician confirmed it was the alternator that was failing and that the cost was under the initial estimate. I was able to pay over the phone for the repair and then made arrangements to pickup the car first thing on Monday morning since we were still in Flagstaff and the shop was closed on Sunday. Come Monday morning we arrived shortly after the shop opened and our car was there waiting us as promised. We are thankful for the quick repair of the car and were very happy that there were no further incidents with the car during our journey across the southern Arizona desert back to San Diego. Took my Rubicon there and got a head gasket replacement. It took them longer than normal, but got…read morethe Jeep back and all was well for a little while. I started to get weird things happening with the lights on dash. Engine light comes on and then go off after a few miles. This happened for a couple of weeks until I finally hooked up the OBD2 sensor on it and it says P0305 and P2314. The truck would run rough when the engine light was on but perfect when it went off. So I bring it down there and the manager hooks up a scanner and says nothing is wrong with it and that the ignition coils, spark plugs and fuel injectors they replaced are all running perfect. This thing continues to happen for another two weeks. On and off. So I park the Jeep for almost two months until a friend can help diagnose it. The friend pulls the manifold off to look at things and sure enough, the cylinder 3 ignition coil bolt is sticking halfway out and was never tightened. Cylinder 5 and Cylinder 6 electrical connectors were never pushed in all the way like they should have been. In fact the little tab on the brand new ignition coils was broken and the connector just pushed on and never secure. So he replaced the cylinder 5 ignition coil and secured all connectors that should have been done by Half Price Auto. So I spent money to have that all fixed when it never should have even happened if they did things correctly. I'll never bring my vehicle back there because they can't be trusted. They should change the name from Half Price Auto to Half-Ass Auto. UPDATE: They called me today to "get clarification" as if the review wasn't clear enough. So, when I explain for them to tighten bolts and make sure connectors are clicked in and most importantly, when you BREAK a clip, you repair it sites of leaving a connector hanging there not secured, he accuses me of yelling (which I never did) and calling names (which I never did). My next question was "what is the purpose of this call?" to which he replied, "to get clarification". He (Jack) then stated that I never gave them a chance to fix this, to which I said "How many chances should I give? Three? Once when the head gasket was changed, once when I went back with this issue that should have never happened and once more after that??? His comprehension skills are lacking and I see more clearly why this sort of thing happens there. Just wow. So again, I'm still out $250 and haven't been able to drive my vehicle for two months because they ARE NOT THOROUGH IN THEIR REPAIRS. Good riddance.
