Came here on a Sunday and there were a lot of empty tables but we still had to wait 15-20 min for a table even though we had a reservation at 12:15pm. Service was quite slow but the staff were friendly. They told us from the start the kitchen was a bit behind so it was nice of them to tell us what was going on. the location is doing a lot of heavy lifting here and I want to be honest about that. sitting on the river in Sacramento is genuinely lovely. the outdoor seating, the views, the vibe on a nice day, all of it is really pleasant and I get why people keep coming back for that part of the experience. the food though is where it gets complicated. for a place called Crawdads on the River I expected the seafood to be the star and it was just kind of okay. not bad, not memorable. the cocktails were better than the food which isn't really what you want at a seafood spot. service was inconsistent. our server was friendly enough but things took a while and it didn't feel like anyone had a great handle on the floor that day. the prices feel a little high for what you actually get on the plate. you're partly paying for the atmosphere and if that's enough for you then you'll probably enjoy it. I just wanted the food to match the setting and it didn't quite get there. I'd go back for drinks on the patio on a summer evening, genuinely a nice spot for that. but as a full dinner destination I'd want more from the kitchen before I'd call it a great meal. read more

Bar tenders...not great....no one even acknowledged I was standing there waiting for 13 minutes...no big deal, except there seemed to be a lot of worker just moving around...not really doing much.... My brother and family walked thru restaurant, and sat in a seat...and were helped by a very nice waitress...! When I sat down I asked her, how are we getting helped, and she said "I know how to make money and I can handle more tables"! Awesome! She was great! Maybe she should train the rest of the staff who seemed very busy not doing much! We did have some trouble getting napkins, extra plates, and forks, but when we ask she got right to it.. So overall place is cool! Management needs to do proper staffing and train your staff properly...you se to have plenty of people, just need them all working together properly. read more

Time flies...Two years since our last visit. We've always loved the locale and setting, but I don't recall being too impressed with the food. Today was delicious though. A grilled cheese with crab and a chicken club sandwich. Both were wonderful, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Two Cajun Bloody Mary's and a perfect lunch on the Water. We were really impressed today. A special thank you to our server Whitney. I celebrated being with good people by having a mango margarita. it was good! Clam Chowder was actually the disappointment. I've had way better. They have this thing called clam chowder fries. I loved having lunch right along the river! It's a hot day today but there's shade and fans so we felt fine. I had the salmon and my coworker had the Cajun pasta. Great portions and the salmon was great. We did have to wait a bit to be seated but it was lunchtime so that's fine. Great place on the river! We hadn't been here in years and recently went on Father's Day. We went right when they opened and sat on their patio with a water view. It's nice to watch the river traffic and animals. We had the beet salad, crab cakes , green beans, and jambalaya. Everything was good, we just wished there were more beets on the salad. Got to Crawdads on the River for Valentine's Day brunch, and was shocked at how much space the restaurant really has and such a beautiful location by the Sacramento River as well. To find it off the Garden Highway Level, it's at the river level so there's some stairs to take to head to the lower level from the driving level. If you have trouble walking this might not be the best choice for you because it is a bit of a walk from the parking lots to the restaurant, and since it's at the lower level coming back up the stairs after eating may not be easy for some people. Service was great everyone was as very welcoming and helpful. I needed something changed from my order, and it was very efficiently done. All the food seemed very fresh. All the dishes were served piping hot. Really enjoyed the Cajun Pasta. It was delicious and portion was satisfying. We also ordered the calamari, and enjoyed this as well. We ordered the drink called the Mardi Gras and it was just the right amount of alcohol, frozen blending and sweetness. We would love to be back again. read more

This is the go to place to go to in the summer in Sacramento! Took work friends out twice with a party of 8, and were seated quickly and the staff were so quick, kind and attentive! Some of my friends have never tried Crawdads so ordered them as an appetizer. Everyone got their own entree and everything looked great, including poke nachos, pasta, salads and fish. This place is such a hidden gem. The view is just breathtaking right at the river. I haven't been here for years and it did not disappoint. It was even better than I remembered. I ordered the cauliflower tacos. I wanted something more light and it fit the bill. Cauliflower were roasted and crispy. The pico de gallo was light and had fresh tomatoes. We had to get the bucket of crawdads since it is in the name of the restaurant after all. I like how they don't put much filler in there with the corn and sausage and there was a good serving of crawdads. It's big enough to share and serve two. I loved the fries here. Saw server only 3 times - take order, deliver drinks and give us the bill. food was good. wasn't given proper serving utensils (no knives, only forks) for our order. probably won't come back. We went on a beautiful day and the view was gorgeous. They did seem a little understaffed but I didn't mind with the view and my drink. The James a the Giant Peach cocktail was delicious and I don't see it very often at restaurants so I was excited to order. I didn't take a photo but we ordered the chowder fries to begin with and it was topped with bacon. Bacon makes most things delicious I didn't see any clams in it which I thought would have some. The potatoes inside them were fairly large and considering it was over French fries it was a bit much for me. It was good but I don't know if I'd order again. The Cajun pasta was yummy with a very generous amount of sauce and the shrimps were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately my boyfriend ordered the crawdads burger and the meat was lacking a lot of flavor and it was rather dry so it was disappointing. We live walking distance away so we'll probably return and give the other menu items a chance. The view and cocktail truly saved the experience. read more
