This place is absolutely delightful. The staff is terrific. We even had one of the kitchen staff come to our table to share Zumba experiences. Our waitress was splendid. She knew the menu and made sure we were taken care of. We didn't feel rushed. The food was scrumptious, pretty authentic tasting. I had green chilaquiles and they were the best I've had since moving here. The egg was cooked perfectly, the chips were fresh, and the verde sauce was delicious. My friends had fish tacos and shrimp tacos and they enjoyed them as well. I bought a pastry to take home and it was great. I'm anxious to try other items on the menu because there are some great choices. I highly recommend it. It's my new favorite Mexican food restaurant. read more

The owner mentioned they are planning to add more outdoor seating soon, which will be awesome for nice days.For breakfast, we both ordered the huevos divorciados and some coffee. Everything was excellent, but the standout for me was the Tierra Blanca latte, it was absolutely delicious and had a great, noticeable coconut flavor.I love how the layout is set up with a separate bar area and a dedicated coffee bar that also sells fresh pastries and ice cream. We came for brunch on Father's Day. Cute spot with a coffee shop connected to the restaurant. My husband had a shrimp cocktail and I had a chile relleno. It's definitely more of a Mexican fusion food take vs traditional Mexican food. The food is well priced. I had an Americano as well and surprisingly the coffee was great! Had a nice kick to it and full of flavor. I also had the canela soul latte and it was yummy! Would definitely go there again. They have two menus which was a little confusing at first but it's a cafe and a restaurant together so from 8am-3pm you can get cafe food and all day they have the restaurant food. The pepper was nicely roasted and topped with a creamy sauce that worked really well with the dish. Two others in our party tried the chicken tamal. The tamales themselves were good and fairly traditional in flavor, but the mole sauce was the standout. It was rich, complex, and clearly the highlight of that dish. Service was also excellent. Our server was very helpful and attentive without hovering or getting in the way too much. He checked in at the right times and helped keep the meal moving smoothly. Overall this was a very good experience. Between the thoughtfully designed space, strong flavors coming out of the kitchen, and great service, La Ciudad is definitely worth a visit. Came for the first time for lunch on a weekday. Greeted fairly quickly and sat outside. Sunny but they have umbrellas but it gets warm quick as it didn't cover a lot of the table. Interior and exterior was clean and had very cute decor. They also serve ice cream here on the left side of the restaurant which is a nice touch. Food was disappointing despite being plated well. 3/5 guac - pretty but lackluster in taste and it was presented without plates or napkins. Not a huge deal but we didn't get silverware or napkins until food arrived. 3/5 ribeye tacos. Meat was tough and chewy. Green salsa was sweet and not very tasty. Friend got shrimp tacos and said it was just okay. Another friend got a chile relleno which was decent. The rice was good and the creamy white sauce on her plate was the best thing we had. Not sure I'd be back for food. Everything was extremely pretty tho. If return I'd get something different or maybe to try the ice cream. The service was friendly but extremely slow and didn't get a check back after food was dropped until we were finished. I saw this place just opened on social media and I had to check it out. I love places with a big beautiful mural inside, it just sets the vibe. Inside is very vibrant, open, and clean. Their parking lot is really small, so we ended up parking in the neighborhood. Our server was Amy who was friendly and patiently answered my questions. We ordered the blanco canela latte and the Tierra blanco latte. We also ordered the chorizo burrito and the chilequiles rojos. I saw they also have mole and chile relleno so I'll have to go back and try those dishes. There are some days where they close in the evening but I believe that's during the weekend, their hours are on the front door. Pros: everything is made fresh when you order. I wasn't sure about the spice level for the chilequiles and was offered a sample. It took a bit because they made a fresh batch just for me to try. I loved the chorizo burrito, the green sauce was so flavorful and complimented the chorizo very well. I enjoyed the chilequiles as well. Amy was great and checked up on us regularly. Cons: parking can be tricky. The neighborhood homeowners already have their cars parked on the street as well. read more

I came to La Ciudad for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday. Parking lot is limited but thankfully some spots were open when I got here so I had no trouble finding parking. The interior is stunning, elegant, clean and touches of traditional Mexican decor. When I first walked in I was greeted and welcomed in, staff is very friendly. This is a great concept, Mexican urban market where you can order coffee, ice cream or other goodies to go on one side or sit down to enjoy a meal on the right. It's is an open space with plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces. There's even a mini fusbool outdoors just like in Mexico. The coffee was a 10/10, love to and the server had my coffee remade because i accidentally forgot to order it dairy free. I got the chorizo burrito and it was yummy as well- I'd give it a 8/10. My boyfriend ordered the chicharron and he said that he wished the chicharron was much crunchier and it was a little too soft for a chicharron for him but it still had good flavor. I am pretty sure ownership here runs my fiancées favorite midtown spot, Zocalo's. The location is super convenient and close to home for me. I hope this place can succeed as I hope for all the eateries in town. Went to pick up a couple breakfast burritos after my workout recently. Sat at the bar and had a beer while I waited. Service was great. Vibes were high for the spot. Now I'm sure a lot of lady's can relate to my breakfast burrito dilemma here; it was a fantastic breakfast burrito with great flavors and of high quality. Problem is that the burrito in question was small. Sure there was plenty of cheese and the eggs were scrambled perfectly, some crispy bacon and spicy chorizo. But upon opening the bag and seeing the burrito I was extremely disappointed in the overall size of it. This is not to disparage La Ciudad as it was my first time here. Super cute, modern, and hip Mexican food and coffee spot! We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in, which set a great tone. We ordered two chilaquiles dishes, one with chorizo and one with asada, and tried both the red and green salsas. Both had a nice kick of spice that made every bite really enjoyable. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The coffee was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. We also tried the puff pastry, which unfortunately lacked flavor. My boyfriend and I walked with our dog to get some breakfast around 10:00am. They do not have umbrellas yet for the outdoor patio according to one of the servers so just caution if you decide to bring your dog on a sunny, warm morning like today. Also advise you order drinks and to go orders at the cafe to your left OR you take a seat and wait for a server to order at the tables to your right. The service at "cafe" is quite slow, but it's expected since it seems like the person there is taking orders, making drinks AND occasionally serving food. I've been driving past this corner for years and always wondered what its potential could be. Then I saw construction begin earlier this year and was excited to see what would be revealed. After popping in to confirm they were indeed finally open yesterday, my family and I walked down this morning for coffee and breakfast. First impression-OMG this place is stunning! The elegant and clearly cultural elements make the space special to sit in. There is a beautiful mural about the tragic love story of the Aztec warrior Popoca and Princess Mixtli. Next time, I plan on eating inside, but we needed to sit outside because of our stroller and dog. They had comfy chairs to enjoy our coffees in but due to the rainy weather they hadn't set up their patio yet. However, Ernesto was amazing and brought out a table and chairs from inside for us to dine Al fresco. Second impression-the service is fantastic. See note about Ernesto above. Everyone who is there has been friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure your food and drink are exactly how you want. Sandra was our barista and waitress and was so helpful in answering my multitude of questions. My husband had the breakfast burrito-he stated in between eating the first half and the second half that it was one of the best breakfast burritos he has ever had. I would have taken a photo except he was eating into it faster than I could whip out the phone! I ordered the tuna tostada (fresh and spicy!!) and the baked fish and shrimp entree. I took one bite and stopped in my tracks because I have never tasted anything like it before. It was so unique-smoky, spicy, briny and made me think of fresh fish from the beaches in Tulum and the ornate complex flavors of Mexico City, a culinary capital. I cannot wait to go back and try everything on their menu. Their drinks look great too so look forward to inviting friends to join me. I believe they will do well bringing culture, style and flavors to this corner in West Sacramento. We need more local businesses who want to create their mark in our cities. Just a note their hours in Yelp are off. They are open some evening. I belive Thursday through Sunday, but don't quote me. I'd call and ask. We came here yesterday, Sunday, December 28th, 2025 around 1pm. It was a leisurely walk from home. There is a foot path down the street so it's safe, just full of leaves due to the winter weather. When you enter look left, there is a foosball table and ice cream selection. Infront of you will be tables and a front desk area with menus. The menus need some TLC. They are stained with food. They can't be washed off as they are just two legal pieces of paper stapled together. To the right is the main seating area. They have a full bar with seating at the bar and lots of tables. We sat near the full length windows. I belive it used to be a garage and they converted into an eatery. It's very bright in the cafe which is nice in the winter time. They have a pull down screen on the same side of the cafe as the windows and an overhead projector. They weren't using it while we were there. Maybe they'll show big sporting events on it. The chairs we sat in were really nice. They are made out of different colored cording and were very comfortable. It seemed very clean in the cafe minus the menus. When you get the check they give it to you in a mini tortilla press which was adorable. Service was great. The waiter kept coming around and checking on us and getting us more water. We already had lunch so we were looking more for a hot beverage and a snack or dessert. My husband got the chi horchata latte which was served hot with foam in a large cup with saucer. I opted for the chips and salsa. The chips were thick and crunchy and not too salty. The salsa was mild, but had a little spice to it. I really liked it. The spice was just enough and not overwhelming. The portion size was ok, I think they should add a few more chips to really fill the plate. The couple behind us just got hot drinks, in the same latte cups we had. The people behind them got several platters of food, I'd count 4, so they were the Lunch crowed along with the table behind us. There was a total of 4 tables occupied and someone sitting at the bar. It was a pretty quiet place, even with the high ceilings it wasn't overwhelming loud. The acoustic for that small group was perfect. The temperature was just right on the cool day we were there. I was able to shed my jacket, beanie, and gloves and I was very comfortable. As I mentioned they have a foosball table. We played on the way out and it was a lot of fun. They have a single bathroom that was clean, but out of paper towels in the dispenser. They have there own parking lot. The lines aren't drawn in yet so parking is a little confusing. They had 4 cars in the lot and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure they can fit more with the arrangement they have. We'll have to see after they draw the lines and figure out the traffic flow. My friends and I met here for breakfast over the weekend and I loved the decor, coffee and experience. This is a gorgeous and charming space, complete with a bar on the right and coffee station on the left. They have a concise menu for breakfast and I ordered the ham and cheese burrito, which also came with bacon, eggs and a medium spicy green sauce on the side as well as black beans, also on the side. I enjoyed my latte, which had some spices in it that made it similar to a golden latte (tumeric and a few other spices). It's not very sweet, which was nice, and the burrito was only $11, which was refreshing. I loved the live music (not sure how often they have live music but on March 14, they had it!); the duo was great, and they even took requests. They have their own parking lot, and there is also street parking. It's owned by the same restaurant group that owns La Cosecha and Mayahuel, as well as Sal's Tacos, which is next door. I don't even know where to begin. The drinks, let's go with the amazing cocktails! I had the Oaxaca old fashioned and my friends had the spicy margaritas. We loved all of it! The food! I wish I had taken a photo of the menu but will do my best from memory! The Birra dish, Tortilla soup (get this!!) the Chicken Mole (the first thing on the main dish menu) it's so good, it's so so good I cannot wait for my leftovers and lunch tomorrow. Came here for a work lunch with my team. I had the best burrito we shared chips and salsa and had the plantains for dessert. My burrito was good full of flavor and the green salsa took it up a notch. The plantains were good. Crispy edges and the chips and salsa were great appetizer. Service was good staff are friendly and helpful with ordering. I have worked down the street for over a decade and was driving downtown near the I steer bridge and suddenly noticed the other day a nice, remodeled building that used to be a car repair shop. The signage wasn't the best so I wasn't sure what it was but assumed it was a restaurant. I had time today and at lunch thought I would investigate my hunch. I'm glad I did since I discovered a nice, clean, modern comfortable spot that is far and few between in West Sac. The pozole verde I had was flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Easily one of the best I've had in the area. When I was there I had texted a couple coworkers about the spot and they headed over and enjoyed their food also!
