The first thing the host asked me was if I was interested in Vietnamese food or cajun seafood. I answered cheerfully, "Cajun Seafood!" His next response was, "Have you ever been to The Boiling Crab? It's similar" Well, let me tell you it's a tad bit similar but nothing comparable. I got 1lb shrimp w/ head hot house special sauce & 1lb clams mild house special sauce (for my fiancé) to-go. The smell itself was close, the oil was close but the overall taste was not. There was no thickness to the sauce as you would normally experience at The Boiling Crab or places similar such as Ray's Crab Shack & many others others. It was pure oil. I was a bit disappointed, & as much as I ate every piece of shrimp I was not fully satisfied. It was not terrible but it also wasn't amazing enough for us to go back. Pretty solid crab boil. Got the pound of shrimp with added potato and corn with a side of garlic noodles. For starters. The garlic noodles were very yummy. The chunks of garlic in it really did it for me. I got medium spicy on the shrimp but I honestly wish I had just gotten spicy. The shrimp was very good. Wish it was a bit more saucy but over all I really enjoyed all of it. The service was also very good. Our server was super nice and took the time to make sure all our needs and wants were met. Stopped in today before my quest of finding the best Turkey and it was a delightful surprise inside! Driving in it looked a little questionable in this underdeveloped spot in the center of everything. It felt a little like hitting the jackpot somewhere in Texas. Inside they have great decor with a piano, etc. I was short on time and had to hurry. I ordered their shrimp/pork spring rolls and they were the best I've ever had! Customer service was incredible! We ordered the king crab legs with the special house sauce (spicy, garlicky and buttery Cajun delight) and the best part of it all is that the king crab legs are already cracked in half so no need to work extra hard to get all deliciousness out. My husband ordered the shrimp without the head and were perfectly cooked. We just moved from San Jose , Ca and this place is by far more better than boiling crab and better customer service! However the new server with the nose piercing is extremely rude to minorities... she attempts to rush you out as if your bringing a bad atmosphere to the restaurant. MUST READ REVIEW. We were returning customers at Crawfish Noodle & Grill and on our most recent visit, 9/22/19, it was our Anniversary and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. I ordered the #1 combo (shrimp & crawfish boil) and i went home with a container of leftovers. The food was tasty as usual and was a good dinner overall. THEN....the next day i heated up my leftovers and as I'm picking through the shrimp & crawfish shells, I come across what looks like a pube!!!! Or at least some kind of body hair! In my food!! I pulled out a shiny, curly, little black hair and am absolutely disgusted. NO ONE in our home even has dark hair and it absolutely did not belong to us. Long story short, i call the restaurant and speak to a man who says he's the manager. He basically tells me I'm SOL and that the best he can do is give me 15% off our next visit!!! Like I would actually come back?! I explain to him that I've been in the food industry myself for many years and that all of this is unacceptable; he then offers me a 50% refund from our bill. At last there's a a seafood place near here rather than driving an hour plus to San Jose or Sacramento just to get your Cajun fix but still doesn't beat the Boiling Crab. I heard this placed used to be a Chinese restaurant, now it's mixed with seafood and vietnamese. We ordered a combo from the Vietnamese menu which they should change it and keep it simple coz it's already hard enough to decide what to eat, a pound of shrimp cajun mild, calamari which is good that I ordered another one, the only thing is they got to work on their service coz it really sucks, my rice didn't arrive until I'm already throughwith my shrimp and the 2nd calamari arrived when we are almost done eating, can't find anyone to call coz they seem very busy and slow waitresses. Happy to see a crawfish spot open up in Modesto. The ambiance and decor is reminiscent of other crawfish hot spots. Crawfish flavors are a bit different compared to Boiling crab or Kicking crab. The latter is more Cajun spiced focused. I had the Thai curry and the house special, both flavors were a bit too subtle for my liking. Though I prefer the spicy flavors of a Cajun boil it's nice to see something different. We had about 10 people in our party and ordered a variety of things. We ordered about 12 pounds of crawfish and shrimp varying in flavors as well as items from the 'Pho' menu. What was annoying was that each pound of food was served at different times. Our waitress would come with a pound of food, we wait a few minutes, another pound would show up, we wait some more, another pound would show up, we wait another couple of minutes another pound delivered. See the pattern? Multiply by X pounds. Can get pretty annoying especially when we can't all enjoy our food at the same time. We also ordered some fries and a dozen oysters, which did not show up by the time we finished our crawfish. I asked the waitress and she said they were working on it. Aren't oysters on the half shell served raw? What were they working on, shucking it? LOL. We cancelled those items and walked to the cashier upset and kinda baffled by what occurred. There were quite a few other service mishaps but I won't get into that. Verdict: I had high hopes for a restaurant that would feed a need the people of Modesto was craving for. But sadly service was beyond poor. There were no systems in place, the waiters and servers do not communicate with one another, and their menu knowledge was scarily lacking. The food itself was ok, and the wait staff was nice enough, but there is no excuse for incompetence. If management does not rectify this, I can't see this restaurant lasting no more than a year. read more

I normally don't give reviews but the food was not good, I'm Vietnamese and with the reviews I saw on yelp I had higher expectations.
