I really liked the sushi here. It was fresh and light. Be aware of the hours because they are only open for lunch and dinners. The JR Special roll is just like wow and the Mania is for the salmon lover. It takes about 20 minutes for the JR but worth every bit. Yeah! the one person is kind funny and slightly but not to the point of rude. I take it as a little entertainment. But the sushi is just plain good. Ok so I'm a big fan of sushi... BIG fan... .and I love getting to know new sushi places whenever I can =) I happened to find this spot and went based on good Yelp reviews, but unfortunately my experience wasn't as 5-star as many of the other reviews on it. I had a sushi lunch which included an assortment of nigiri, a tuna roll, and miso soup. The miso soup was enjoyable, but nothing to rave about. The rice in the tuna roll did not have the best consistency expected from sushi rice, the right firmness and stickiness and flavor... this rice was a bit mushy and not the right flavor, I think it missed some more rice vinegar in its preparation... anyway, moving on to the star of my dish... my pieces of sushi were just ok... the size of each cut of fish was acceptable but on the lower echelon, flavor and freshness I would say is a 7 ... all in all I probably would return, but the sushi chef was also a bit rude, short with me on taking my order, and I think he just wanted to leave cause I showed up 30 minutes prior to close and there wasn't anybody else at the time. Whatever, I'm a good paying customer like anybody else but my expectations are high and I'll pay high monies for extraordinary products/services... in this case I left with the "Meh, I've experienced better" impression for sure. I don't dissuade anybody from trying this place out, but I would encourage visiting much better places like Ajishin, Noble Fish, or Volcano Sushi =) All in all ok, happy sushi hunting! read more

Tried this place based on reviews, and decided this will be my new regular sushi spot. I believe the owner was the only one there and he was kind, quick and the sushi was just awesome. The sauce on the side with gyoza was soooo good. Not to mention, the price was super reasonable. The inside was just like a real Japanese restaurant, which I loved and made me miss visiting Japan. I've been wanting to check this place out and I'm so glad I did! It's a very casual sushi bar with 2 tables plus one "bar" style table. The menu is handwritten above the bar table, and my boyfriend I selected several rolls to try. They were all fantastic: fresh and delicious. I have to take a moment to rave about my favorite one, the avocado roll! I know that the avocado roll is generally a roll that you get as a side to balance out all the fish, but this was truly the best avocado roll I've ever had. Most restaurants give you a little avocado and a ton of rice, but Crazy Sushi gave a TON of avocado wrapped in seaweed with a little rice on the outside. I will definitely come back here! read more

Lee, the owner of Crazy Sushi, has become the master of the most unique and satisfying rolls I've ever had! Crazy Love tastes like a date gone better than you expected: satisfying, warm, sweet, smooth and creamy, with a tiny speck of spice and guilt for stuffing yourself with such a huge baked roll. Crazy Mushroom is delightfully savory with a little spicy mayo. Giant Spicy Tuna is the best, freshest-tasting, most tuna-filled spicy tuna roll I've ever had. My boyfriend and I always get two orders of it, and it's nearly impossible to control yourself around those. Even when I'm so full that I can't sit up straight and my stomach is stretched so far that it hurts, it takes just a look and a recent memory of the taste for the chopsticks to stuff another roll into my mouth. Healthy roll tastes like an early spring morning run. Clean, green, refreshing crunchy goodness. Salmon Skin rolls are a new favorite of ours. The fishy salmon skin is fried to the most savory fun crisp! It tastes so sobering next to the other sushi! And most of all, I love the atmosphere. It was a very annoying experience. The chef is either racial discrimination or rude in his own way. I did not get any sushi after waiting for 40min, while another two groups of people arrived and ordered later, but they all got their food and left earlier than me. After 1hr, he said:" Ok, I am going to prepare your rolls." That moment I totally lost my patience and left with a small set. It's called Crazy Sushi and it's located in a strip mall in Madison Heights across from a KFC and a Taco Bell and next to a Burger King. You'd have to be crazy to try it, right? Wrong. I don't know the owner's name, but he's awesome. He's also the only chef there so make sure to call in your order unless you have some time to kill. Well worth the wait and the prices can't be beat. I've been coming here for years and never been disappointed. This place is a one-man operation, and the owner/chef is always really nice. More importantly, this is the best sushi you can get without spending a fortune in this area. Great quality of fish, never had a bad roll here. Sometimes the wait time can be a little longer than he estimates, but that's understandable since it's just him making every single order. I've tried every other carryout sushi restaurant in the Warren/Madison Heights area and none compare to Crazy Sushi, especially for the value. For a small place it's as good as it gets. Everyone is correct, the owner/sushi chef is super cool and excellent at what he does. I've never had anything that wasn't 100% fresh. Everything comes out the way you would expect it with high quality. Way better than that Little Tree a few miles away in Royal Oak. I suspect the menu would be more extensive if it were busier. Give this place business and pass it on to a friend!...and p.s. I like that it's called Crazy Sushi, gives MH a bit of quirkiness. hah! read more

The hours are kind of strange because I've only ever seen one employee working there, but he is friendly and he knows how to make some choice sushi. Blech. Every roll was way too sticky and sweet and doused in sauce. The miso soup tasted old and the tofu was mushy and slimy. Not a fan.

stopped by today as I have always drove by this place, and had always been curious if this is some 'crazy' business calling itself 'Crazy Sushi'. The place is sandwiched between national chains. Went in, and aaah, like the ambiance, the posters, the Japanese lanterns, umbrella. Ordered the soft shell crab sushi combined with house salad, oops, they're out of the hauz salad so I opted for the crab salad, and downed it with a can of diet pepsi...overall like the ambiance but not "crazy" after all...maybe I'll go back for the second time so we'll see. I tried Crazy Sushi today finally....it was a place I would drive by all the time and notice but the hours were always weird and I never got a chance to go. I must say I have had better sushi, it wasnt too bad but it could have been better. I would like it a bit more if they opened around 11 instead of 1130 too. In terms of food quality and price this place is better than any other (and I've been everywhere). The down side is the hours crazy like the name. I frequently call to get a carryout and am turned away by their random closings and bizarre/short hours. I've been here like a zillion times, so I've made it to regular status. Lee, the sushi chef, is a super cool dude; if you make it there during some down times make sure get to know him. He offers a great selection of rolls for a really good price, so he's probably gonna have something you like and make it in a kick-ass manner. The rolls have a generous portion of fish compared to the competitors, all at the same or lower price. The only drawback is that Crazy Sushi is mostly a one man operation, so you may have to wait a bit. If you make it there, be sure to try the giant spicy tuna roll (the best roll I've ever had) and/or crazy love. Actually every thing there is pretty amazing, so if you want great sushi at a good price, Crazy Sushi is your place. read more

Solid Michigan sushi at good prices. Fish quality at Noble Fish is better but for the sushi purist, Crazy Sushi has better sushi rice which at the end of the day is as equally as important. It's a one man shop most days so there is a wait. And when I refer to 'good Michigan sushi', it's only because no sushi in Michigan can ever touch large market sushi restaurants. read more
