Creekside Bakery in Novato is probably my favorite place to eat. The cake and cookie selection is extraordinary. The princess cake and eclairs are to DIE FOR! There fruity exotic cakes are like a burst of tropical flavors in your mouth. I also enjoy going here for lunch. Ham and brie sandwiches with side of potato salad! YUM! You can't forget the fresh brewed coffee and assortment of everyday baked breads! I'm forgetting something most important... every single person who works at this bakery are EXTREMELY nice, helpful, and know everything about the food they sell. The owners are lovely too. I have visited the quaint Creekside Bakery near Downtown Novato for over ten years. Every stop I make there never ceases to amaze me: the staff has always been friendly and quite attentive, the ambiance is highly conducive to enjoying a pleasant rendezvous with friends or family. And, of course, the eateries, beverages, and assorted baked goods are all exquisite. Throw a dart at the menu, and you'll undoubtedly hit something sensational. Personally, I almost always purchase an extraordinary sandwich: Chicken Artichoke, Egg Salad, and the BBQ Pulled Pork all deserve Peabody Awards. My advice: stop by whenever you get the chance, knowing you're walking into one of the greatest places to eat in Northern California. read more

This place is heavenly - ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY! First off, the people are the NICEST people ever!!!! They know your name, they greet you in such a kind way that it's like your their favorite family member, they remember how you like things without you even having to ask, they put their whole heart into every interaction and truly make your day. Every single food there is to die for - I have tried all their different soups (ones that normally I would not try elsewhere) and I find myself craving for each one (butternut squash is so delicious and I'm not even a squash fan, the split pea is the best EVER, and so many others), the quiche are so wonderful that it's hard to have quiche anywhere else, their potato salad and chicken salad are like no other, their cookies and pastries smell so good that it's impossible to pass up, they have a lemon cheesecake that I got for my dad's birthday and everyone (even those who never have seconds) raved and raved about it so now we get it for all our birthdays and celebrations and sometimes just because it's so darn good! They have absolutely beautiful and delicious princess cakes, carrot cake which I LOVE there and don't get anywhere else, and the best part is not only is the food absolutely delicious but it's healthy and home made - even the whip cream is home made and believe me, you can tell the difference! I can't have whip cream anywhere else and now I'm addicted to having their delicious hot chocolate with their whip cream. I never knew this place even existed and even when I first went in, I was shocked to see that this is a one-stop bakery - you can get all your cake orders, cookies and pastries, and lunch, sit in their beautiful patio with friends and enjoy a lovely atmosphere with some of the nicest people you will ever meet! They are always happy to see you and it's clear that they love what they do. I admire how hard they work and I know that now I'm a daily customer - the soup, chicken and potato salad are a for sure thing for me everyday during my lunch hour! If you haven't tried this place, you are missing out! I am so glad I did, it is my favorite place ever. Oner of my regular fav hangouts...the food is excellent. I usually get salads to go but during the summer (warmer) days I often eat outside in the shade of the large trees. The creek is nearby too if you want to hang out there. Always pleasant and nice to go there. Not a big sweet eater so cannot comment other than to say the sweets look delicious! This place is awful! They used to have a really friendly girl working there last year in the summer. Now she is not there and staff they have are not very friendly. Some are OK but it seems fake. They don't use gloves they use their hands. Not sure how sanitary that is. Flies are in there all the time. They are a bit pricey as well. I use to go here regularly but now it's gone very down hill. My husband and I found Creekside using a Yelp search and oh, how thankful we are! We have lunch at Creekside at least 2-3 times a week since that fateful day. We travel aroundthe world and can't wait to come hometo Creeksde. The pastries and bakery items are insanely lovely and their sandwiches or salads to die for! Everything you might order in this delightfull cafe hidden amidst the trees alongside the creek and surrounded by the most lovely flowers is just perfect. It's a touch of home with a huge dollop of gourmet. Inside or out under the umbrellas it is a friendly place where you can feel comfortable eating while reading a book, watching people and dogs stroll by, or with friends. Groups of friends meeting on a regular basis is the norm here. It's home. And don't miss the seasonal decorations, especially Steve's wondrous gingerbread house at Christmas! His sense of civic pride and love of small town life is contagious. Also don't miss the wheat free cookies especiallyy the chocolate nut cookies. this bakery has gone down the hill. Ordered ceasar salad with chicken and ordered extra dressing because they never put enough dressing and boy I was surprised when I opened it. Sure enough not enough dressing and hardly any chicken, lots of croutons of course and the portion had gone down for $12 dollar plus $1 for extra dressing. I wont go back to this place! I have to make a comment in regards to the last person's negative review. I have been patronizing Creekside Bakery ever since the new owner took over about 5 years ago. In that 5 years, i have ordered more cakes than one would like to admit. I have always been so incredibly happy with everything. I was actually shocked to hear this person had a "bad cake" and that the details he gave them, were ignored. Never ONCE have I encountered a problem! I "think" the problem lies here - He thinks a SAFEWAY or LUCKY cake is a better made cake. If you like CRISCO frosting, oil & unsaturated FAT in your cakes instead of FRESH cream and REAL BUTTER, well then, maybe Creekside Bakery is not for you. All in all, Great atmosphere, AWESOME lunch menu, the most delicious desserts in town and a very skilled and kind staff to bring it all together. I have been shopping at Creekside for many years for buying cakes for special occasions. On Nov 12 2013, I purchased a small 6" carrot cake for $25.00 for my Son's BD. I, and my friends thought it was the most disappointing and over priced cake we had ever seen. The layers were 5/16 of an inch and the icing was 6 or 7/16 of an inch. The layer of the cake was dry and an almost tasteless. I had never seen a cake anywhere that the icing was thicker than the cake. read more

I have bought a couple of cakes here over the past year and they have been very good so my husband and I decided to try lunch here last week. I ordered the chicken salad and he ordered a lamb kabob type sandwhich. I was happy with the sandwich but could have done without the mayo on the bread because there was obvioulsy a lot already in the chicken salad. My only complaint are their prices, two sandwhiches, coffee and tip was over $30 which is more than I thought they were worth considering the bread wasn't made in house. This made getting a sweet treat after the meal a no go. The cakes are on average $30 but they are good and I rather pay a little more to support this local business than go to the Whole Foods bakery for cakes. Their customer service is warm and friendly, they have tables outside and it was busy for a weekday lunch, seeming to be a favorite of many people in the community. read more

Very good lunch spot for sandwiches and salads. I had the tuna sandwich and the squash soup. Both were delicious! One of the best tuna melts I've ever had. The princess cake was also very good, as was the coffee. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. I called Creekside recently to ask if they have an apple pie. They said they would be happy to bake one for me. It was ready (and still warm) when I picked it up the next day at the exact time I requested. The pie was beautiful to look at and was absolutely delicious. OK, I can't say enough about the rave reviews the princess cake received at my daughters wedding. Cynthia really went above and beyond. The wedding was in Napa, and she couldn't deliver the cake, but was able to package the cake is such a way that our onsite caterer was able to assemble. The pastries, cakes, cookies and lunch menu are some of the best I've had. I enjoy stopping in for a quick treat every once in a while or meeting up with friends for a quick and tasty lunch. But I have to recommend to not go in around lunch time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This happens to be library hour during which the children who come in for free cookies run amuck around the dining room while screaming and touching everything in sight. The owners/staff should find a way of controlling the chaos so that paying customers could be able to have an enjoyable and quiet lunch that they deserve. Good food but high prices and small portions ruin the experience. Look, I prefer quality over quantity but I'm a 180 pound guy that works out regularly and when I pay $11 for a sandwich and a side of potato salad I need a little more than what they are willing to give. Yes the sandwich was good but it was really only the size of half a sandwich. They literally gave me a melon baller portion of potato salad. I felt a little insulted and when I kindly mentioned it, she just shrugged. If this place gave realistic potions to feed average size men then I would raise the score but if you are hungry, don't waste your time. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! This is my go-to spot when meeting up for lunch and/or coffee and a pastry. I'm a huge fan of the chicken salad sandwich, although their seasonal peach salad is not to be missed! They relatively recently began offering an extensive coffee/tea drink selection, which I appreciate as a latte-drinker. It's one of the best spots in town for quality pastries. They'll even warm them in the oven for you on request. The folks who work at the front counter are generally friendly and accommodating. Gabby is a jewel there, greeting customers with a smile and always thoughtfully helping each patrons as one would help a longtime friend. The ambience is intimate with large windows that look out at oak trees and a courtyard, making it easy to ignore the partial view of the parking lot. Sometimes, they have live music on Sundays. This is a real treat, as there are very few restaurants that offer live music in Novato. Just know that you'll want to sit outside in the quiet courtyard if you came with plans to have a deep, meaningful conversation. Overall, one of my favorite places to eat in Novato! read more
