I just got a fab turkey and swiss sandwich along with a more-than-fab, iced decaf flat white w/oat milk. And the nicest interaction with the staff. Michael's Sourdough makes the lunch sandwiches (which seems to be the same owners?), with Sour Kid making breakfast ones and coffee. Andytown coffee roasters is served and I may have just found my new fave. Good flavor that I can taste and the intensity is just right for me as a flat white. Chocolate and cinnamon powder to sprinkle and I'm good to go! Only a few small tables and chairs inside and out. But I'm happy as a clam in the shade on a sunny day working from my hotspot. Enjoy everyone! I'll be back for breakfast soon :) After I left I noticed that there is a bigger space inside Michael's with more tables so that's helpful. And, I was so happy with my flat white I asked the owner if it was too late to order another ...just as he was closing up. Darn - have to wait till Monday! Only open on weekdays. read more

Great sandwiches. Great service. Chill atmosphere. Easy to park. Reasonably priced. Definitely will be back! I had a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich with spicy mayo. Not only was it a totally large sandwich, that I might even have been able to split with another person, but it was so tasty that I couldn't put it down. The spicy mayo, combined with a heaping, breakfast, pork sausage patty and fresh yummy sourdough bread is heavenly! There is a parking lot with ample space to park. The location is easily accessible off the freeway. Lots of businesses in the area, so it's easy to grab a bite when you're running errands nearby. Was driving through on 101 and found this place via help. Hands down the best sourdough bread! I ordered the ham, egg, and cheese on toasted sourdough. The bread was toasted perfectly. I've been going to Sour Kid Cafe since the day they opened in August 2023. I work at Golden Gate Transit down the street and my fellow coworkers and I are grateful to have this wonderful family-run breakfast place so close. They serve delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries, as well as the usual coffee drinks. I'd been asking Chris Braun, the owner, for months when he was going to start serving Chai Lattes, my favorite morning beverage. Well, yesterday I went in to Sour Kid Cafe and my wishes have come true! Chris has partnered with the Spice Company next door to develop a custom-blended Chai base that he is using to create the most delicious Chai Latte I've ever tasted! I highly recommend that you give Sour Kid Cafe a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm so glad I was finally able to try Sour Kid Cafe. This general area has been in need of a morning food option like this and they're nailing it. The location is conveniently close to 101 in San Rafael, about a minute or two away from either exit whether going North or South. Tucked right around the side of legendary Michael's Sourdough Sandwiches, this place is a humble gem. We were greeted with enthusiasm and charm by the cashier and owner, Chris. He was eager to help us, made us aware of all options and got our orders dialed in. There's many noteworthy things about this spot. The place is clean, the red/black/white color scheme (espresso machine included!) is cool, kind of retro, and the walls have some elite Bay Area sports memorabilia. The menu is nice and simple but customizable enough to offer variety, accommodate dietary needs or match desired flavor combos. I had the pastrami, egg and cheese, the wife had the sausage, egg and cheese. The sourdough is memorable, the pastrami portion was legit, and the spicy mayo was an ideal heat - not overwhelming. The sandwich sizes are solid for the price (about $18 for two hefty sandwiches). We look forward to stopping by many times in the near future and will be ordering espresso drinks during our next visit as we've gotten word from multiple people that they're delicious here. We stopped here on our road trip for an easy breakfast and it DID NOT disappoint. The bread was the perfect compliment to the delicious breakfast sandwich. Sandwich, coffee, Croissant were all great. the sandwich is on the classic Michael's Sourdough bread, which any longtime Marin resident will correctly tell you is the best sourdough in the Bay. The bacon and sausage is great and the Pastrami is also fantastic when I want to treat myself (also try adding avocado and tomato). I also eat a low-carb diet at times and Chris made me a breakfast plate without bread that absolutely blew me away. Saw an article about this place in the Redwood Bark and figured I would give it a go. I was delighted by all aspects of my new go to breakfast spot. Upon walking in I was greeted with a warm, bright smile and very friendly energy of the cashier/order taker, Chris (I later discovered he is also the owner). He recommend their most common sandwich, the bacon, egg and cheese, but also recommended a less traditional pastrami, egg and Swiss. I opted for the latter. The sourdough is amazing, the best ever actually, the crunchy shell and delightfully fluffy bread inside with a perfect amount of sweetness make it the best sourdough around. The pastrami was perfectly seasoned and flavored and the egg, Swiss cheese and pink mayo combo make it an explosion of wonderful flavors. The drip coffee also is very flavorful and the pricing of all of it is super reasonable, and affordable in today's world. The shop features some fun autographs given to the parental run business next door, Micheal's Sourdough, from some local sports hero's which makes for a fun environment. I will definitely be returning and recommend to all. read more

The staff is professional and efficient, though clearly busy, so do not expect a lot of chit-chat. I also picked up a box of Cheese Coins, which turned out to be dangerous because I loved them and ate the whole box. Good coffee, fresh pastries, easy seating, and enough tempting extras to make you buy more than you planned. I will probably stop by again tomorrow morning before leaving the area.

The place is a grab-and-go establishment where you order at the cashier and grab your food once ready (or they'll bring it out to you if dining in). I loved the outdoor seating on a sunny day but all the tables were unfortunately taken when we were there. The inside also has a couple of seats and refreshing cucumber water was offered.

Finally, the quality on my side of pastrami wasn't good and after googling it apparently they buy from a confidential source. Overall, in my experience their food tasted like lower level diner fare and I threw out most of it out.
