Went three times in one week! Small menu, fresh, good, solid food. Subbed ham for bacon in the du soleil. Had the Paris crepe with chicken and mushrooms. Had the strawberry crepe and that was amazingly tasty. The berries were fresh and not in a thick, gooey tasteless sauce. The decaf cappuccino was delicious with almond milk. I'm giving six stars not because my family friend owns the restaurant but because it's really good! My favorite and only crepe I order with a cup of cappuccino is the crepe Royale with Strawberries, bananas, Nutella, whip cream, and vanilla ice cream. My sister and I usually get this when we're in Pasadena together and we love it! I highly recommend it! They also have great customer service and nice ambiance like you're in a cafe in Paris! FOOD: 1. Chicken Spinach Crepe - SO GOOD! Lots of chicken, mushroom, and creamy garlic sauce. Don't worry, the garlic wasn't so intense, and it was delicious with the crepe, chicken, mushroom and spinach. It was almost $9, but I thought it was worth it. The crepe was soft and chewy, and it was crispy on the edges. Depending on your taste, this might be good or bad. I absolutely loved it! 2. Nutella - Boyfriend ordered the Nutella crepe. It was rather thin, and according to him, a little too sweet. I'm not a big Nutella fan, so I might not have liked it regardless. He didn't ask for anything inside, and it had a scoop of ice-cream as well as a little whipped cream on the side. DRINKS: I ordered a hot latte. It looked beautiful, had a hint of raspberry (i think) drizzled in the beautiful decoration, but I didn't mix it while I drank it, so I couldn't be too sure of the flavor. It was an okay latte for the most part...flavor was decent. SERVICE: Great service! The guy at the counter was friendly and informative. He gave honest suggestions when we weren't sure about a dish or drink. The food came out in a very timely manner and was beautifully presented. AMBIENCE: The place is adorable! I've never been to Paris, but I would like to imagine going to Paris and sitting in a cafe that looked just like this place. I don't understand why people choose to walk on the edge ordering a medium rare NY steak from the express breakfast menu, ask for a Japanese ramen at a Hong Kong Café; or order chicken at a dessert place. YES, they are on the menu, but common sense should warns you about the high possibility of getting disappointed. Any how, I swiftly asked for recommendation at the cashier for a sweet crepe. In less than 7 minutes, I got my Royal Crepes with a big scoop of ice-cream, whipped cream. The crepes is chewy throughout to my liking and slightly crispy near the edge. My mom, sister, nephew and I came in for breakfast on Saturday morning. We parked in the parking structure on Fair Oaks which allows 90 minutes of free parking. They have a few tables outside where we saw a couple dogs sitting with their owners. We weren't entirely starving so we shared 2 crepes. We opted for one Savory Crepe; Chicken-Spinach (mushrooms, chicken, spinach, Mozzarella cheese in cream sauce) and one Sweet Crepe; Royal (Nutella, strawberries, bananas, chocolate Chantilly cream & powdered sugar). It has bananas and strawberries, powdered sugar and chocolate drizzle with whipped cream. The Fruit was fresh and good but the crepe was dry and hard. I took a few bites of the crepe but ate the fruit and whipped cream - leaving most of the crepe. I won't be coming back and I don't recommend it. I've passed by Green Street all the time when I'm in Pasadena, so I can't believe I never noticed this little nook right by the bridal shop. I am so glad I did this past weekend! BF and I wandered in after parking at the nearby structure off Green and Fair Oaks (free 90-min parking!). We haven't had any good crepes, savory or sweet, since Paris -- the one inside the Paris casino in Las Vegas was a letdown -- so we were eager to see how Crepes de Paris would be. We ordered the chicken-spinach savory crepe (10.95) and the royal sweet crepe (10.95). The royal came first, and we appreciate that they had the banana on the side as we requested (I am allergic =X). It had just the right amount of sweetness without being overbearingly sugary. Nutella and cut strawberries on the inside, topped with a drizzle of Nutella, a little bit of strawberries, and powdered sugar. Their whipped cream on the side was actually pretty light and went deliciously with every bite. The chicken-spinach was pretty dang good as well. In addition to the chicken and spinach, this crepe also had mushrooms and shredded mozzarella and THE MOST DELICIOUS CREAM SAUCE. We had some sauce left over after scarfing down the crepe and we wished we had some bread to dip the sauce with. Needless to say, we had nothing to take home. Other than the food, I am grateful that they don't really use disposable plastic. We had actual silverware and plates for our food and hard plastic cups for self-serve water. The indoor seating is quaint and reminds me of being in Paris, down to the wall art and French music. We also had the Mixed Berries Crepe, Favorite Crepe, and mango smoothies; all were delicious! The texture of the crepes are perfectly-made and each one is stuffed full of yumminess. I'm happy I can get my savory and/or sweet fix here, knowing my tastebuds will be delighted and my tummy filled. There are also other items on the menu such as cold/hot sandwiches, soup, salads, omelets. The cafe consists of a cute Parisian-style indoor dining area and an even cuter outdoor patio to enjoy, especially during the warm weather. I've frequented this location several times and have always received polite and attentive service. Even with the large order today, the service was quick! When the food came out, I told them it was my sister's order yet she still plopped it down in front of me so hard that some of the sauce spilled out. The shrimp crepe with alfredo sauce wasn't too creamy or oily as often happens with this kind of sauce and the dessert crepe wasn't too sweet. I really enjoyed both of them. I would say that there was a big problem with whipped cream that was served on the side. That thing was nasty and tasted like it was made somewhere at a local oil refinery. Restaurant staff, if you reading this review please change the brand of whipped cream you're using. it tastes like poison. And now the only downside of the restaurant of course... The place need some major cleaning. Everything feels dirty and abandoned. There is trash sitting right next to some tables outside on the patio. I kept getting my hands dirty in Honey after touching several tables, while trying to pick one to sit. It is a nice, simple interior with bench-style seats and a decent-sized outdoor patio. You wait in line and pay first, which I guess is more efficient. The guy at the front was helpful enough, though the rest of the staff (those serving food) didn't seem to come by at all, say anything or smile. We ordered the daily breakfast and chicken/spinach crepe. The actual food looked all right at the beginning and even tasted quite good, but I always wait until later in the day before I write up a review because sometimes you won't know how you'll feel until later, after the food is digested. And this was the case... we didn't feel too good afterwards, possibly something in the food, eggs?, was not good so had a little upset stomach, but even a bit more irritating is the aftertaste. Either some preservatives, MSG, excess salt, or all of the above and more. Either way, it's been 6 hours later and I still have a strange taste and dryness in my mouth. I often get it when eating chinese fast food or food with flavor enhancers or preservatives, but it's not healthy. I'll be trying the other crepes place a few blocks away in Old Town to see how it compares. read more
