Absolutely fantastic. The nicest staff, they have their stuff together, because they all work together so well. It's a good indicator for a business when you see how smoothly they work under the new pandemic guidelines. My 10-year-old dog Roscoe had a mild stroke several weeks ago, I woke up to him having this so I immediately rushed him to Crestview. Mind you we live off slaughter now and I think so highly of this clinic that I drove him as fast as I could to the Burnett clinic. I called prior so they knew he was coming and they were all there ready to assist me getting him out of the vehicle. They did not say a thing about money until they took him back to see what the problem was/or save his life if need be. My bill was quite expensive actually it wasn't too horribly bad I believe it was like $700. But they were very thorough running all kinds of tests to make sure he was okay. I was unable to pay anything that day so they set me up on a payment plan. They were all very kind. As for the airport Crestview extremely lacking empathy. I absolutely did not care for several of the receptionist. So I guess I shouldn't say anything about the doctors or the vet techs definitely the receptionist are not very kind. read more

The staff and veterinary team at Crestview are extremely friendly, helpful, and effective. They treat our pup with the utmost care and show her so much love. For some reason, our dog actually gets excited to go to the vet! And the staff tell us they love her as well. We had stitches taken out there recently, and it was completed free-of-charge. I don't know how they have so many five-star reviews when my experience has been getting consistently worse over time. The most current example is that I scheduled an appointment for Dr. Butcher with the first available day for her on their website and they called me several days later to say she's not available on that day. This isn't the first time this has happened to me. What's the point of encouraging us to go online and use the schedule there if it's not accurate and we find out that we have to change all of our plans after you get around to letting us know? The last time I tried to make an appointment with a somewhat urgent situation, they said they didn't have any availability for several weeks. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and said that our situation was not an emergency when I described it to her. When I asked her what the vet considered an emergency for a pet, I received a condescending reply that sounded like somebody was quoting the dictionary. This is how we were treated even though we were current patients and have a history with them. I think they overbook themselves to maximize income, but leave no flexibility to work in a situation that calls for it. I called our previous vet and when I described the situation to them, they made room for us that day. I'm happy for them that there are so many people that have piled on with their five-star reviews, but that probably adds to the reluctance to provide a more accurate rating by those with a less than stellar experience. read more

My 6 year old cat named Mace visited Crestview Vet Clinic for the 1st time about 10 days ago. He had the works. Shots, nails clipped while under anesthesia, and lab work. Plus his annual exam. Everyone was very courteous & he was better than new the next day. Spot yourself a rest room if you wait outside. Humans aren't allowed inside due to Covid 19. I took my cat to the Crestview Veterinary Clinic on March 13, 2020. My cat had been vomiting every other hour all night long. The Crestview veterinarian did bloodwork, took an x-ray, and told me that my cat was dying due to a blocked gallbladder and complications. She urged me to put my cat to sleep. She told me a doctor could come by later in the day with a travelling ultrasound machine and better information could be obtained. I agreed and left my cat there. A few hours later, I came back. The Crestview vet told me that she and the ultrasound doctor had checked the ultrasound and "spitballed a few ideas," but had reached no clear conclusion. She told me again that my cat was dying and urged me again to have my cat euthanized. My cat was given one injection for vomiting, one of antibiotics, and pain medication to administer to him at home. The Crestview vet gave me a postcard for an animal emergency center that could treat my cat with surgery. When I called that phone number, the receptionist was unfriendly and said I would need a referral. The Crestview vet did not show me either the x-ray or the ultrasound. The next morning, I returned with my cat to the Crestview Vet Clinic and saw a different vet. She told me basically the same information. She urged me over and over to euthanize my cat. She did make a call to an animal emergency center on his behalf. However, when I called that emergency center the following morning, they had nothing on record about my cat. I gave the name of the vet that the Crestview vet had spoken to and was told that vet was not present and was not a surgeon. That same following morning I took my cat to an emergency center. Although it did my heart good to see the center's team *run* out to take my cat into care, by then he was too far gone for surgery. After an hour, I met with their vet, who clearly explained what my cat's chances were, how much the cost might be, and, finally, that his blood pressure was crashing despite their efforts. I deeply regret taking my cat to the Crestview Veterinary Clinic, rather than to an animal hospital or emergency center that could have treated my cat. I was not ready to let my cat go. If he had had surgery on that first morning, he might have survived. I miss him every day. read more

I took my dog "Buddy" to see Dr. Strauss and found her extremely professional and competent and her bedside manner was amazing. I found my first bump on my 7 year old golden retriever and it F R E A K E D me out. I frantically got him into his vet (who we've been with for 6 years), but after they handled the situation really awfully, I was on a mission to find the very best standard of care possible for my guy. EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) in my neighborhood recommended Crestview, and I'm so glad I contacted them. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel like royalty, and by the end of the visit, I had absolutely no doubt that Moose had found his new forever vet. Dr. Butcher was professional, personable, informative, provided excellent care, and most importantly, she calmed all of my nerves by outlining out an extensive treatment plan for when (and if) the mass turned out to be cancerous. Dr. Butcher is AMAZING!!!! All the staff are always very professional and always treat every animal as if it were their own pet. My dog Romeo had 4 mast cell tumors removed and then later had an infected incision and had to have another surgery. Dr Butcher really took care of us and Romeo. My animal's records have been repeatedly lost resulting in them claiming I did not take him in for an annual and refusing to give flea meds. In addition, the front desk manager has been repeatedly rude, outrageously rude. She even hung up on me twice. I called twice today and spoke with the front desk around lunchtime. I had inquired about my dogs being first time patients. I was driving so I had her on speakerphone since I was not alone. During the first call she seemed somewhat patient with my questions but on my follow up call she proceeded to get huffy, correct me and had an extremely gruff/rude attitude which she attempted to cover up her anger and condescending tone regarding the day they had availability to accept my dog or dogs. I have been writing an article about the best places your dogs will enjoy especially during covid and two other articles and was excited to bring my dog in so I could include this experience in my article. I was not the only one that was shocked at how she chose to come off so unnecessarily and since I have been looking forward to trying them even though they were a bit of a drive up from where I am at... I can say with STRONG conviction that she should NOT be working front desk. Front desk is the first experience customers have and while you never know who you are talking with... all customers should be treated with patience, kindness and not passive aggressiveness with a flippant attitude and a you are beneath me snide corrective and challenging comment. I was going to make my appointment for both my dogs but was so speechless at how she treated me and the way she was challenging... I felt if she can treat me like this especially when I am having my dogs needing care.. how would she treat my dogs when I was not in the back with them and if they keep someone like this (I will leave her nameless out of respect to your office but she knows who she is). SHE SHOULD NOT BE WORKING YOUR FRONT DESK OR HONESTLY ANYWHERE AROUND DOGS! If she can loose her patience this easily as her correcting me with the days there is availability... why would you want to keep someone being people's first experience this way? *sigh* I am left with no appointment and I really wanted to have my paw family be able to see you for more reasons then the visit as I am always looking to write about great places you can enjoy with your pets. read more

I just came from Crestview Veterinary Clinic as a new, stressed client and I am so very impressed. I have been in Austin on a VERY extended stay due to the pandemic and have had multiple issues with my 11 y/o French Bulldog Chloe during this time. She has had eye surgery for ulcers on each eye, allergies out of control, and sadly yesterday a diagnosis of a cancerous brain tumor. Her time with us is much less than I had hoped for, but we will do everything to keep her comfortable while she is with us. This brings me to calling Crestview Veterinary Clinic. I called late last night to ask about getting a cytopoint injection for allergies. Normally, I go to the military facility, but they are closed during this pandemic. Brenda who answered my call was so sweet and kind, especially with a women she has never spoken to, and who had just gotten devasting news, so not at my finest. Not only did she explain my situation with Dr. Kautz, he got me in first thing this morning to see my girl. His kindness and empathy while speaking with me was so very much appreciated. He asked to be kept in the loop and offered that I could call him with any question or concern I may have. I just want to point out that I am from Massachusetts, and even though my time with this clinc may be short, he acted as if I were a long time client. I would highly encourage anyone looking for a vet in this area to give this clinic a call as they were pretty awesome! Just as an aside, because I've spent so much time and money these past two months at multiple facilities in Austin, I can tell you that this place is very reasonable. I highly recommend Dr. Kautz and Crestview Veterinary Clinic. I used to take my cats to Dr. Kautz when he was at another clinic. He has always been one of the best veterinarians that I have ever used for any of my pets. I was so excited that Dr. Kautz has opened his own clinic, Crestview. It is incredible! Dr. Kautz and his staff are amazingly knowledgeable, kind and very professional. The customer service is top notch. They truly care about my fur babies. The clinic itself is beautiful and very well thought out. They really paid attention to detail, from the comfortable waiting room to the state of the art clinic facilities. Base on the looks of the clinic and the quality of service my pets received, I would think I was taking them to a high-end, boutique-style veterinarian clinic, but with very reasonable prices. Recently, one of my cats needed some dental work done. We were expecting to have a tooth (and possible 2) extracted. I was given a very fair estimate of the cost of the work, with a high and low estimate range. However, when Dr. Kautz performed the dental work, it turns out the teeth were in better shape than expected and didn't need to have an extraction. So the dental work actually came in almost 35% under the low end of the estimate! When does that ever happen? I love Crestview!!! I have four cats and they all will be going to Crestview. read more

Crestview is AMAZING! We were new to Austin and found them by chance. We have a couple beagles and they have been wonderful with everything. One was heartworm positive when we first got him. Dr. Kautz has a super organized, effective and comprehensive treatment plan, resulting in a heartworm free dog. He also took the time to explain everything to us, which put our minds at ease. There have been new doctors added since we started visiting here and we have had wonderful experiences with each one. It's always easy to get our animals in, and they were excellent with follow up after we had to take the other beagle to emergency clinic late one night for an eye injury. The vet techs are always so friendly, the dogs love to see them and aren't scared of going to the vet. The front desk staff is polite, helpful and so organized - even when we can't keep details straight. I've had two of my felines seen and cared for at Crestview Vet. My kitten Teddie got all his shots and eventually was neutered under Dr. Kautz wonderful care. Then my 16 yr old Stella was in decline and first had dentally surgery, which luckily she was healthy enough to undergo, and soon needed treatment for a chronic upper respiratory infection that nearly killed her. She also likely has cancer, masses on her spleen and lymph node, but she's doing really, really well after antibiotics and prednizolone. Dr. Butcher is AWESOME!! All the vet techs are awesome. I've only been here once and I already know I will want Dr. Kautz as my primary vet for as long as I'm in Austin. His background in school is impressive, so it's easy to trust his opinions on my animals. I took my cat here after a tail pull injury and unlike the ER vet, Dr. Kautz was optimistic about my cat keeping his tail. If I had gone with the opinion of the ER vet his tail would already be gone, but Dr.Kautz gave me confidence and hope...and now my cat's tail is moving! I'm so happy I went here and I'm sure my cat is too. The receptionist said my cat was cuddling her, which is a rarity with my grumpy boy. I have brought my pups to several different veterinary clinics in the past, and none of them have compared to Dr. Butcher's amazing and attentive care. I brought my little old 16 year old man in to see her when he hurt his foot, and Dr. Butcher was extremely thorough in her care while still being conscious of cost. She listened to all of my concerns about him and addressed them all. She even called me herself a few days later to follow up and make sure that the injury was progressing well. Between a couple of follow up appointments and all of the medications and X-rays, it was a pretty penny, but also very reasonable. Dr. Butcher understands that my priorities for my old man are comfort rather than treatment at this point in his life, and she offered me the proper medications in order to keep my little man as comfortable as possible in his golden years. Big fan of Crestview Veterinary Clinic and the vets/nurses there. They cared for our 1 year old pup Kudzu so well recently. They fit us in when our normal vet couldn't get us an emergency appointment for days. They were very understanding and honest about pricing -- giving us itemized estimates for X-rays, ultrasounds, surgery. The itemized estimates planned for surprises and got us prepared for higher costs too. They were so loving and caring and obsessed with our dog (they all came in every appointment to check up on the pup even if they weren't helping with the appointment)! It made us feel that she was in such good care. Dr Butcher also squeezed us in last minute for a surgery. They all were flexible once they realized the seriousness of our pup's situation. Also, our vet (and others we had tried) were still doing curbside pickup/drop off due to Covid. It was so nice to walk into the vet and get to see them love on Kudzu in person. There are not enough stars in the world to give Crestivew what they deserve. I've got two cats and two dopey, large rescue dogs who LOVE getting into trouble. Whenever I call them in a panic, they are ALWAYS there for me with guidance however I need it. Whether I need to come in immediately because my dog ate all of my prescription medication, or I just need some quick advice over the phone because my cat has been acting a little extra weird that week, they are always kind, honest, upfront and very understanding. And they always make time for us! I don't know how many times they've fit me in the same day I called to make an appointment!
