When I had some issues with my former vet clinic during COVID, a friend recommended this clinic. I'm glad she did. My girl had a lump discovered by my groomer. She recommended I get it checked out quickly. Called my vet. They couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. I called Crossing and they were able to get me in much quicker. Dr H has been so kind and caring. When it came time to put my girl to sleep (lump was melanoma - terrible disease), Dr H and her staff had a candle lit in the lobby so people would know that was happening and to be quiet and respectful. She also got a jelly donut for her last snack which she enjoyed immensely. I like this clinic a lot. I don't have the 16 year relationship I had with my old clinic, but I hope to keep coming here. I rescue dogs. I have fostered several dogs for Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, and they were all special, but Dolly's story will always stick with me. Dolly came to use with matted fur. Huge patches of her white fluff were missing, and she had bleeding sores all over her body. She had infections on her skin, in her ears, and in her eyes. But Dolly? Loved everyone. She loved curling up on her bed in the living room or sleeping on the bathroom floor. She showed her love by pressing her forehead against you, and would protect her yard from coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, and dead leaves floating on the wind. She loved to wrestle and play, and would do anything for a bite of tortilla or potato chip. The folks at Crossing were there for us, and for Dolly. They took care of her, making sure she had all of the meds she needed through her entire foster period. They watched as she gained back her weight, grew back her fur, and learned how to trust humans again. They were gentle and patient with her when she tried to hide behind us at check ups, and trimmed her brittle claws slowly and gently so they didn't break. They supported us when we were scared we'd never clear up that ear infection, and patiently taught us how to clean out her ears without hurting her. Dolly was over a hundred pounds, and would bark and snap when someone went for her ears, but instead of being mad or scared, the folks here just smiled, petted her, gave her treats, and let us help - which is what poor Dolly needed. Dolly wasn't with us but a couple of years. She succumbed to old age and all of the damage done fo her health, but for those couple of years, she was happy, healthier, and loved. She never would have had those happy years or better health, or even a home with us if Crossing hadn't taken such good care of her, especially when she first came to us. The worst part of her life ended at Crossing and they set her on the path to being adopted (by us!) and cared for. They let us pay out our bill slowly, gave us discounts - made it possible for us to pay for what Dolly needed. You can trust these folks to take care of your fur family, and trust that they care - and they want to see every critter have a good, happy, long life. read more

Since Dr. May left you can never get other Dr Howell to see your animal. Always some 'temporary' daily vet that 'fills in'. Dr Howell is there maybe two days a week, the rest you are shooting at a dart board as they are temporary vets as Howell can enjoy her days off. Please start working 5 days a week like most people, hire another full time vet, or start losing customers. People are getting tired of the temp vet doctors. These are nice people as is Dr Howell. Just needs to work more or hire another full time Vet. read more

I'm sure you have happy clients but unfortunately after talking to another friend in the neighborhood I became aware that I'm not the only unhappy one. I hope others don't have my experience. I also value that you stand by your staff if I "yelled" at anyone but what you should do next time is maybe to get the OTHER SIDE's story so you have a better understanding of the situation. I'm not asking you to take my side or let me stay! NOT AT ALL!!!!but I'm appalled that as a business owner you didn't EVEN BOTHER TO CALL ME OR REACH OUT TO ME to get my side of the story but of course that TAKES TIME/ENERGY AND DEDICATION WHICH YOU DO NOT HAVE! I promise you that my dog is seen by a practice that fits my expectations much better. I do not expect to force myself to any business if they're not willing to give for whatever reason that might be but again what you did is pretty unprofessional. You SHOULD always take time to listen to the other side and then you can decide whatever you see fit but what you did is similar to issuing a verdict for a defendant who has no chance to be heard. Again I'm very happy at the other practice. No hurt feelings. I just hope that your other clients have better chances to be heard before you "fire" them! Of course the main issue here is the fact that your office is coming up with the surprised and undiscussed costs that we're not part of the plan , nor were they consented. When your tech called me the first time to get money over the phone I was at work and I was to be seen in less than a week for a neutering procedure that was scheduled but apparently you do NOT trust your clients and she forced me to go to my car, get my credit card to be "checked out". I think you think very lowly of your patients and don't consider them trustworthy! Very sad Dr. H! read more

I was recommended to Crossings by Veterinary Surgical Services when my dog required gum cleaning and tooth extraction. Great vet and extremely helpful in a pinch. Our dog was having an allergic reaction to something and couldn't stop biting her paws. I called Crossing and even though they were completely booked on a busy day before a holiday weekend, they let me bring her in so she could be evaluated! After they'd seen her in between appointments, I got stuck at work, but they took care of my girl until I was able to get there. Nothing but good things to say about everyone who works there. I haven't written a Yelp review in forever but am totally inspired to write one for this clinic. Here's why. I have a 20 year old cat. Yeah, he's 20. I took him to a place closer to my house just for a quick rabies shot and they wanted me to do all of these tests, buy all of this expensive food, bring him in every 6 weeks, and made me feel badly when I basically declined all of that. THE CAT IS TWENTY. I am interested in keeping him as comfortable as possible, but that's it. I am positive this cat does not want me doing anything to prolong his life. He's not a human, he's a cat. He just wants to live out his last days as comfortably as he can. Also? The bill for that quick visit for the rabies shot was significantly higher than what I spent today at Crossings, where they completely understood and respected my wishes as they pertain to said cat. They gave him some fluids, some pain meds to help with his arthritis, and provided general guidance for his last hurrah. It is a good long drive for me to get to this clinic from my house but they do a great job and they are reasonably priced. I highly recommend them. read more

Each time I go to Crossing, I have a great experience with all staff. I volunteer with Texas Great Pyrenees rescue and have picked up numerous pups after wellness or spay/neuter appointments here. My name is Eileen West and my dogs, Teddy, Buster and Prince have been patients at Crossing for several years. My dogs have always enjoyed good health so we only visited Dr. May and Dr. Howell for preventive care and occasional well checks. All that changed a few weeks ago when my 12 yo Boston Terrier, Buster, started having seizures. I always knew Dr. May and Dr. Howell were very competent and professional but their compassion as well as that of their staff, especially Amber and Liz, has been very comforting. Every step of the way Dr. Howell has presented options with the cost and consequences of each and without judgment on my decisions. The end is near for Buster but I know at that point we will have done all that was reasonable to keep him comfortable. I will always appreciate the competence and caring concern of everyone at Crossing and I plan to keep my dogs in their capable hands for years to come. I cannot recommend this place more highly! Let me tell you a story about my dog Azula! She had a horrible Hematoma on her ear! I made an appointment with another Vet we had used before and took her in. The lady vet was very condescending and put off a very weird vibe that had me feeling nervous. She only gave me two surgical procedures as options and made me muzzle my dog for treatment. Azula is protective and gets a little nervous at the vet. I was very upset that the surgery would cost me over $600 dollars but I love my dog and scheduled it for the next day. I still had that weird feeling about the lady vet so i called a couple of other vets for a second opinion over the phone. Dr. May's office was the first one i called and they told me the surgery the first vet was offering was a cosmetic surgery and they actually prefer to use a medical treatment that includes steroids and what i call "The cone of shame!" I made an appointment and was so happy with the whole staff and Dr May! They saw how my dog was protective, but still wagging her tail. They both got down on the floor and took the time to let my dog get comfortable with them! And kept telling her what a good girl she was as they treated her! They offered the surgery and their price for the same surgery was half the cost of the other place, but Dr. May said he preferred the medical treatment over surgery! I know that clinics are businesses and they need to make money but today I have learned the importance of finding a good, honest Vet! Dr. May is the best and deserves 10 stars! If you live in the area i highly recommend bringing your fur babies here! read more

I cannot recommend this clinic and Dr. Howell enough! I took our Shih-Tzu to them for a second opinion since he was not getting better after spending over 3 months and ~$900 from our now previous vet and pleading with them to get to root cause. In fact, he was actually getting worse! I knew Crossing was who Wee Rescue uses since we have adopted 3 dogs from them...and now I know why. He was obsessively licking his paws and Dr. Howell figured it out right away. She did a simple skin scrape and determined it to simply be Demodex mites/mange. All it took was one Bravecto flea control pill and 3 days later it stopped. Of course at that point he also needed antibiotics for the secondary infections that had formed due to the previous vet's misguided treatments, which actually made it worse by killing his own bacteria that may have fought the mites off. Poor little guy had to go through 3 months of Hell but it was finally over. Needless to say this is where all our dogs and cats will go from now on. read more

I have been using Crossing Animal Clinic for over a year, maybe close to two years now. The front office staff/receptionists are always warm and welcoming, and call my dogs by name when we come in. They are well versed on my frequent flyer's condition as well as always make sure to ask how I am doing too. Dr Malari has been the kindest, most patient, and most professional veterinarian that I have ever used. She takes the time to answer every question with details and instructions I can understand. She is empathetic and compassionate. The 3 times I have come into their clinic with an emergency, I was worked in and helped as quickly as possible. Dr Malari and her staff were right there to help calm my fears and comfort me during those emotionally charged experiences. I highly recommend this vet clinic and their staff. I have been going here for about 18 years, but more and more recently, they have gone downhill. The owner, Dr. May, is there less and less and it is hard to see him. The other vet always gives me the wrong info; she gives me the exact opposite info that Dr. May gives me. WTF? The staff has been constantly changing recently and seem less caring and much less willing to help you. They have no time at all to talk to you because they have another phone call to answer. I'm beginning to hate to even call there anymore. The staff seems useless, overwhelmed, and not very caring. I figured I would switch vets when Dr. May retired, but now I think I need to find another vet sooner. Too bad. Too sad. Maybe Dr. May is too hands-off these days. Dr. May and his staff were FABULOUS on our first visit! Our pup has had some bad experiences with the vet and is incredibly stressed out when he is there. Everyone at this place was helpful and kind and loving. Dr. May spent time after and before the appointment just giving Trigger treats and making him feel very safe. You could see the change by the end and he was already more comfortable. A vet tech even extended an invite to bring him by occasionally without having anything done just for some treats to get used to the place and people and make it a more positive association. As a dog trainer, I know how important this exercise is and to offer it up was very thoughtful and perceptive. Dr. May also did a great job explaining in detail to me what was wrong, what the treatment options were and the next steps. He even let me look through the microscope at the sample he had taken. Even the receptionist stated to me that making sure the dog was comfortable and happy was their main goal. I understand that this much focus and time may not be given at every visit based on the schedule but I know that I'll be guaranteed the high level of care and love when they are interacting with my animals and for that we have found our new clinic! UPDATE: Our puppy tragically passed away last Monday and the level of attention and love received by Dr. May and his staff will never be forgotten. Amber spent the whole day by his side and comforted him and we are eternally grateful to her. Felt that I should update my review now that we've been taking TWO dogs here for almost 4 years. Additionally my sister now takes her dog here. So we have 3 family dogs as "patients" at this clinic. Bottom line: still great. They are great about scheduling quickly, can always get us in if something urgent comes up, and are SO wonderful about scheduling two dogs at the same time.
