Not a huge menu, but the food was good. Kind of a small restaurant but we didn't have a problem getting a seat.

Crew is one of those CIA affiliated restaurants - as in the Culinary Institute not Central Intelligence - so it goes without saying that the menu selections will be creative, flavorful, and slightly pricey. The decor at Crew is sleek without being too stylish (this is Poughkeepsie after all...), the service prompt but not hurried, and the food worth coming back for. My Opa and I went here for lunch after discovering that the Culinary Institute was closed that day. Immediately after walking in we were greeted by a friendly hostess who promptly showed us to a table in the back. The restaurant was very crowded- especially for lunch on a Monday, but did not affect the service at all. Our food came out quickly and was presented well, in addition to being delicious. Our waitress as well was incredibly friendly and constantly checked in on us making sure to accommodate any of our needs. The atmosphere is nice as well in the restaurant. This was definitely a great find for us and we will return if possible when in the area. read more

What a little gem. We had the house made mozzarella which was fantastic. Also had the buffalo chicken wrap. Chips are homemade. For a change I actually loved the sandwich pickle. Staff was friendly. Place was quiet. Open kitchen. Can't wait to come back! read more

They have by far the best Caesar Salad anywhere. I always order Caesar Salads and most of the time I am disappointed. I can't speak for all their meals, but if you are a Caesar Sald lover then you have to try this place. My kids did say that their burgers are excellent too. read more

If you are a foodie this is the place to try. Amazing and unique menu. Food was fantastic and creative. A plus is sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare for you in the open kitchen, which by the way is spotless. Guess we caught them on a bad bight. Had 630 reservations got seated at 645 and walked out at 730. Truly it's a bar with a great menu if only they could serve what they offer. We were behind a table of 12 and if the kitchen can't make it work then shame on them. My reservation for 4 got trashed because they had a big table and couldn't handle it. I addressed it with the matre d but my wife said let's just leave. What a shame. A great menu but incompetent staff and or management. read more

What a shame. I've been to Crew 5-6 times and felt good about it but tonight was awful. With an 8:30 reservation we waited 40 minutes for a table. Rather than apologizing, the manager was mean-spirited. I'll never return to Crew. There are many other good options. read more

I was taken here for my birthday by friends who had always raved about it. I think this is a nice hidden gem! The location of this place is misleading- the inside is very chic and clean. You'd think you were in NYC, not off 9 in Poughkeepsie. For a weekday lunch, it was very quiet (fine by me!), but the staff was lively and beyond wonderful. All the girls working were sweet and attentive to our needs. The fried goat cheese won-ton app is amazing! The menu was varied with everything from burgers to duck. I'm not a drinker, but the wine/beer selection seemed to be very good as well. The hostesses and waiters even made a little birthday dessert for me, which was sweet and very appreciative. I travel for work and I am always looking for a local restaurant. Found this gem. Open kitchens are a favorite of mine. Good beer and wine choices. Appetizer of goat cheese wanting are tasty. Went to Crew this past weekend with my brother and his wife. The food was great and the service excellent as well. It's a small place with limited seating, but we were there late afternoon and it had plenty of room. I had the chicken caesar wrap and a cup of broccoli soup. The soup was very good and the wrap was large enough that I tool 1/2 of it home. Everyone was happy with their meal. Beer selection wasn't huge. but several craft beers to choose from. We arrived Sunday night at the restaurant at 8:07 and were told that they stopped serving at 8:00. The hostess greeted us and then disappeared after telling us to wait a moment, and I saw her ask one of the chefs a questions. She came back and told us that they would not serve us. I will NEVER go back there again after that. That was poor in my opinion. They just lost a customer and i will not hesitate to tell others about this. I wouldn't even give a rating at all for this place if I could. read more

Mediocre...stopped on way home from upsate NY for lunch. Ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer which came with overcooked shrimp...dipping sauce was okay. Ordered the steak frittes medium for main course which came pre-cut and cook pretty well in middle but overcooked on the ends not that outstanding. Again mediocre. Coleslaw was good which we ordered instead of fries. Not a bad place but can fir sure find better a little further north inside of downtown Poughkeepsie. read more

The entrees are overpriced, atmosphere loud and very crowded. We had finished dinner and were finishing our cocktails when we were asked to leave the table so they could seat another group. They waited until we had paid the bill and tipped the server, then they asked us to leave. I understand the need to expedite the flow and turn tables over but it was the first time I've ever been asked to vacate a table. No matter that they apologized, it was in poor taste and they should have offered us a drink on the house to show appreciation for our cooperation. I'm familiar with the restaurant business and there are better ways. First and foremost you are never rude to the customer and you do whatever you can to make sure they leave a satisfied customer. We'll go elsewhere from now on. read more

Who would have thought that a strip mall could house such a great gourmet farm to table restaurant. The ambiance is great with the chef owner greeting guests and checking on presentations. The menu is varied and precise with something for every taste. The fish presentations are top notch and are accompanied by great sides and interesting starches such as purple potatoes. The home made burrata is superb and the Greek meze which includes a great baba ganoush and the Israeli couscous was superb. Desserts, while limited were great. After a very trying week, and multiple trips to Vassar Hospital it was recommended that we take a break and go to lunch at Crew. Not only did I have a fabulous meal, but overall was a fantastic experience. Jokingly, my brother said " we should come back for dinner and bring your husband". And you know what, Mark and I did return for dinner, dessert and more fun after. I want to personally thank Tom and Becky for helping us to forget some of the challenges that are surrounding us, even just for a few hours, it was so appreciated. And though we just met, we were treated as family. This was one of the best overall experiences we've had in a long time!!!! The hospitality was out of this world and OMG the meal.... Good dinner place with an open kitchen. I ordered the salmon - which was prepared really well with a flakey crust on top. My husband ordered the ragu pasta which was nothing special to be honest- barely touched half of it. Unfortunately they ran out of the appetizer special for that night (it was only 7pm) so that was a disappointment. We also had the apple and pear crisp for the dessert which was good, because it came with a scoop of ice cream. Overall food was decent and service was great. read more

My wife and I joined two other couples at Crew this week. I had gone there way back, before they closed for a while, and I hated it. They have really turned this place around. The menu has much more to offer and we all thought our dinners were exquisite. The drinks from the bar were good and they had a nice selection of beers and wines. Last night was my second visit to Crew - and unlike my first visit, this one was not that great. I went with a couple of girlfiends at 7:30 on Sunday - not that late. I had called earlier and verified that they are open till 11:00 pm though the kitchen closed at 9:00 pm. The place is chic, the food - well presented, tasteful and innovative. It appeals to foodies like me. At least during our visit, it wasn't too loud or busy. The problem was the service. Our waitress needs training on how to lose her attitude. She was abrupt and terse, insisting that we needed to place our complete order by 8:00, because the place was scheduled for carpet cleaning at 8:30 pm (??). BTW, we were there till 10:20 pm and no carpet cleaners showed up. Anytime we asked for something, she responded as if she was doing us a big favor. This followed by baleful looks when we didn't rush through our meals so she could leave at 9:30. I asked for plates to share the dessert we ordered at the end of the meal, and the lady who was bartending flung them on our table. Attitude ! Sure doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. I used to recommend Crew to friends after my first visit last fall. Future comments about Crew will include warnings on desultory and rude service. read more

This is one of the hidden bargains in Poughkeepsie. Not a chain. A local restaurant run by graduates of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Interesting menus, three great soups a day. A very friendly atmosphere. My favorite lunch/brunch place (I have not come for dinner as it is close to my studio but not my house). Local means original menu dishes and products bought locally. I heard so many people say how they love the food here. My friend and I ate there and will not eat there again. I ordered calamari and a chicken dish that had a brown mushroom gravy on it. The calamaris was like rubber and the worst I ever had. The brown gravy on my chicken was very salty. My friend has a shrimp/pasta dish. The pasta was over cooked and he said it was the worst shrimp/pasta dish he ever had. We will never eat here again. read more

Great spot and setting! So disappointed in the food and service! The bolognese and goat cheese salad were good, not great. French onion soup was broth and onions, two tiny pieces of bread and a little cheese; very salty. Service was poor; Waitperson was very inattentive. This restaurant can do better!!!! read more
