If you like Persian food or haven't tried it, this is a good spot to get acclimated. We came for lunch with friends who were eager to share their cuisine with us. I have had Persian food before and I like it fine... not my favorite but still... Javan is pretty and the service is very good. We made a lunch reservation but on a rainy Friday afternoon, they weren't busy. Still, probably make a reservation because this feels like an expat's favorite. We had the appetizer sampler and a big family-style platter of kebabs for our main course. Everything was good - the chicken with saffron and the two kinds of beef we tried were all good. The rice is delicious and the tea had a delicious spicy kick. Definitely a good place for an intro to Persian food or a nice meal if you're an expert. Plenty of street parking and lots too.

This is probably my favorite Persian restaurant on the west side! We usually come for their lunch special since we are local and always leave feeling unable to breathe after. My favorite is the chicken koobideh plate and a close second is the chicken kabob plate. Both are very juicy and flavorful. I don't know what they do to the chicken but it shocks me every time! I need to learn the secret to cooking chicken to be this juicy/flavorful! Service is always very welcoming and there is almost always ample seating at lunch. There's always street parking as well and the food comes out fairly quickly. Perfect spot when you're in a time crunch without having to compromise quality.

Such a great restaurant for big groups! We got a big table of 20 to celebrate a UCLA concert. Staff was so nice and accommodating, extremely friendly and funny. We got a spread of appetizers which we absolutely devoured - especially the bread and onion something dip. The lamb shank fell right off the bone and paired perfectly with the cherry rice. Would absolutely come back!!! They also have UCLA special deals.

Came in after a frightening almost car crash experience asking for help and were met by Alex who was very friendly and offered us hot tea. Very delicious tea and super friendly staff who helped. The food smelled delicious and it was a very comforting and warm environment. Will definitely be coming back to try their delicious looking meals! Thank you Alex for being our angel.

What a pleasant surprise! This place is so good. We almost went to Darya down the road, but the ratings here were higher, and I can see why. The food was fantastic. Everything we had was so flavorful! I am now a Gormeh Sabzi fan for life! The koobideh was super tender and seasoned really well. The Cornish game hen was definitely a favorite. It had just the right amount of char on the skin. Our server was Viktor, and he was the friendliest most helpful server. We have been to some Persian restaurants where we felt unwelcome. This was NOT the case Viktor shared how everything was made and he made the whole experience wonderful. There isn't a ton of ambience here, but we came at an off time. We sat in a booth, and it was cozy. I will come here again and again!

Street parking, we arrived to an almost completely empty restaurant on a Tuesday night ~6pm for dinner and enjoyed recommendations from our server: chicken, beef koobideh, and lamb shank. We added a stew and also some cherry rice and one more special rice. If you have not tried this style of rice or are new to Persian food, this will be an incredible meal! Because LA has such a high density of phenomenal Persian restaurants, I cant say that Javan has successfully distinguished itself at the top of the pack. However, it's absolutely high quality, delicious, and reliable so I definitely recommend it. We did have to go find our server ourselves a few times, and the booth was not very comfortable.

While meandering through West Los Angeles with my daughter Lexie, we stumbled upon a culinary revelation--Javan Restaurant, a quietly majestic outpost of authentic Persian cuisine. What began as a spontaneous stop quickly evolved into one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in years. We indulged in a rich array of traditional dishes: Beef Koobideh, two skewers of impeccably seasoned, freshly ground Angus beef; Chicken Kabob paired with cherry rice, offering a sweet and savory contrast rarely executed with such finesse; and the Bademjan stew, a soulful blend of slow-cooked eggplant and lamb shank served over delicate white rice--a dish that whispered of home kitchens and centuries of tradition. Never had Persian food this good. From the moment we entered, we were welcomed with warmth by Alex, the gracious owner, whose menu recommendations elevated our experience. The service was sincere and familial, the kind that makes you feel like a treasured guest rather than a customer. Kudos to Eli our server. Definitely coming back. We highly recommend this beautiful place for a lovely date or family dinner. Thanks for reading

    Yum!!!!!

Service was quick and easy from start to finish. We had a big party, and we were seated at our table quickly. Our waiter was awesome. The chef even came over to talk to us, gave us recommendations, and was so sweet and kind. We absolutely loved our first-time experience here. Thank you for the mole it was amazing!

Some honestly great Persian cuisine in West LA. It's really close to my work so I stop in often for lunch and every time it is consistently really good. It's very large on the inside so they can host many different sized parties and it is never cramped. Each time we have been, the service has been really great and the whole staff is always really polite. They also are quick with the drink refills which I really appreciate. They don't have a dedicated parking lot but street parking is very easy to find in this part of town. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of Persian classics. For my most recent visit, I ordered the Kashk O Bademjan as my starter, which I thought was really good. It's nice to mix up appetizers instead of getting hummus every time. For my entrée I chose the Kobideh with a side of rice and salad. It's basically like a Persian meatball in the shape of a kebab. Honestly really delicious in flavor and something I order often and would highly recommend. They also bring out free wraps and onions, which I love. They don't skimp on the portion sizes either, and you will not leave hungry. Overall some delicious person food in a casual setting in a quieter part of Los Angeles. I would definitely recommend to anyone searching for a solid Middle Eastern meal and I plan to be back many times in the future.

Turmeric Braised Chicken - The dish was a bit on the basic end, not a lot of seasoning but you could taste the tumeric. Chicken was tender but slightly on the drier side which was a bit surprising considering it was dark meat (6.5/10) Kofteh Tabrizi - The tomato taste was prominent in the broth but the meatball itself was overly salty. The flavor was one note, I can't see myself ordering this again as I've heard this dish should have more complex flavors so I was disappointed (5.5/10) Kotlet Plate - As you can see from my picture, the kotlet was burnt beyond repair and I could taste the bitterness from the overused oil they used to fry it. I did like the yogurt spread and the pickles that came with it but I did not like the kotlet at all. We didn't bother asking them to replace it (4/10) Mirza Ghasemi w/ Barbari bread - The star of this whole experience was the Mirza Ghasemi, the roasted eggplant and tomato spread came cold and it was the most delicious thing we had. One of my friends vacuumed it right up before the rest of us could have seconds. Bread was a bit dry but it was a great vehicle for the Mirza (8.5/10) Lamb Gheimeh - Lamb was tender and it had some nice spices infused in there but it didn't wow me in any way (7/10) Sholezard - Our waitress brought over some complimentary Ceylon tea with the Sholezard which was kind. The beef koobideh and beef barg were not just disappointing they were concerning. The meat tasted off, like it was either going bad or being mixed with old product. That's not a small issue, that's a serious quality and food safety concern. The Shirazi salad has completely lost its authenticity. Instead of the fresh, bright lime/lemon flavor it should have, it tasted like it was tossed in a bottled dressing. Completely unacceptable for a place that used to do this right. The hummus came with bread that was stale and hard, which just adds to the overall lack of care coming out of the kitchen. And then the pricing charging extra for rice and Shirazi salad on top of already $28 plates is excessive and feels like nickel-and-diming customers. It's honestly disappointing to see how far this place has fallen. Between the drop in food quality, lack of freshness, and inflated pricing, I won't be returning.

Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. My family and I went here one afternoon and as we sat down, the attendant from the restaurant told us that the specific table we were sitting on wasn't part of the restaurant and we were not going to be served if we sat there in a very rude tone. We went ahead and moved. Then we went up to the cashier to order our food and the two people that were there were busy talking to each other in farsi about a customer that just came and didn't tip along with some very vulgar language. Then as we were ordering, we told them it was our first time and we got no smile or anything, very still faces like whatever. We ordered two Koobideh wraps and a few other things. It was very uncomfortable. The Cashier didn't even speak to us. As we sat down we were "served" after we HAD to ask if we get bread and onions and water because we saw that they were taking those things to other tables. The Koobideh wrap tasted like Rubber and you could barely hold it together as it was drenched with the sauce and all soggy. Even my 1 year old wouldn't eat it. We had to open up the sandwiches and eat them with a fork. It was not a good experience. Tip for the owner: You should probably remind your employees that some of your customers are Persian and they will understand them talking shit.
