Food: It's good, tasty and consistent. Never greasy which is a huge plus. Not fancy or fusion. The normal suspects at a place like this - sesame chicken, wings, boneless ribs (what is that btw?), fried rice, wonton soup, beef & broccoli. You get the gist - it's American Chinese food. If you want anything remotely new or "authentic", go to Flushing or maybe a hole in the wall spot in Chinatown. This is straight comfort food. Service: I've heard people complain that they are rude or cold at best; racist at worst. Not true. At all. They are polite and quick. They are Chinese and culturally are transactional with persons outside of their community. Plus, they are running a takeout business. Get the order, turn it around quick, toodles. Nobody has time for the warm and fuzzies. Stop the nonsense. They have been in the neighborhood a long time and survived CoVid. Let's take the small wins and move on. Ambiance: There isn't any. It's a takeout place. So expect the bullet proof glass and transaction doors. I get the need to be safe. Most importantly, the kitchen is in plain view and is always - ALWAYS - very, very clean. I've been going to this take-out Chinese restaurant for over 15 years. Their food is always spot-on. I order only lunch as I work (not live) in the area. I call it in, it's always ready when I get there. My only complaint is that they don't deliver and don't do UberEats or DoorDash. Crispy Bamboo Village is hands-down the bet takeout food in the area. It's cheap, absurdly tasty, and reliable. It gets busy during peak dinner hours on Fridays and Saturdays, so if you don't want to wait for your food you should call in your order and roll in 5-10min later. Doing laundry around the corner? Pop over during the wash cycle to pick up a meal, bring it back to the 'mat, and be the envy of all. Coming home exhausted from a long day at work? Pick up a filling take out dinner and eat it from a real plate while you watch Netflix because you're an adult dammit. The menu is the standard extensive American Chinese Food one you'll find at any takeout spot, but if you want some other combination of ingredients Crispy Bamboo Village will do it! I swoon for the fried tofu, but don't love mixed veggies (especially when it includes carrots), so I usually order it with broccoli instead, and often add mushrooms too. The brown sauce ties it all together into an addictive but satisfying dish, and the portion is huge. It runs $8 total, which feels like a steal for the amount of happiness it brings me. My non-vegetarian roomie hasn't had good experiences with the wings, but Mardory-Yelp-Queen-of-Harlem says they're great! This is my go to Chinese take out spot in the neighborhood. I've tested out a few other places, but this is the best I've had and luckily it's also the closest. The food is good, and less greasy than other places I have been to. In other words, you don't feel disgusting after your meal. They have a great selection and I have never ordered anything and been disappointed. If you want to try something different and a little healthier, try the shrimp and green beans with garlic sauce. I was warned off the Chinese take out options around my block in Harlem, and heeded that advice for a long time. Today, I broke. I judge take out Chinese food on two things: shrimp fried rice and spring rolls. They are one of my go-to I feel crappy and need a pick me up food. Crispy Bamboo Village is the best option in the area, by far. They don't deliver, which is a bummer, but they are always busy at lunchtime and the kitchen is very clean and organized looking. Which really, are two very good signs compared to the other places in the vicinity. The spring roll could have been cooked for maybe 30 seconds longer to brown it up more, but the filling was hearty. Not just cabbage like at so many places. Mushrooms, etc. Yum. The shrimp fried rice was also totally decent. Not that weird Spanish rice/fried rice combo that I disappointingly find so often north of Chinatown. And none of it was too greasy! Totes. I'll go back. read more

From the moment I heard the name of this restaurant I was entranced. I immediately called to place an order for the chicken Almond thing. Impressive was the fact that they were open on Easter Sunday. I went to Crispy Bamboo Village unaware that it was take-out only, but I was more than happy when we got home and ate a delicious smorgasbord of Chinese delights. We had the fried chicken wings which were crispy (as the name of the restaurant promises) and moist. The fried pork dumplings were seasoned well but the plum sauce was a little sweeter than I am used to. I tried something new (not typical of anyone who has had the same Chinese food order for the past 23 years) seafood chow how fun. The noodles were cooked well, but they stuck together which made it kind of difficult to eat. They did not skimp on the seafood either which is always a plus at any place. My boyfriend got sweet and sour chicken with white rice, a staple in any Chinese food order. The breading was light and it was perfectly golden brown. If you were expecting authentic Szechuan cuisine, really? I live in Harlem and that means I have grown accustomed to the bullet proof glass and people hanging out. This place has granite floors and a place to sit, that makes it real nice. They specialize in greasy American style Chinese food. The name does start with Crispy. The pork fried dumplings are the best you'll find within blocks of house. The lo mien is great. The chicken is like the chicken in every other Chinese food place, It has a funky texture. If you want something with meat in it get it fried. If you a crazy ex-vegan like me get the crispy fried tofu. It comes on top of steamed broccoli with sauce on the side so the tofu is still crispy when you get home. It's an experience I thoroughly enjoy, sitting there watching people order every variation of chicken wings. No one will beg for money. You wont get sick. Best Chinese in the immediate area..

I have ordered from this takeout restaurant before and love the Shrimp Mei Fun. But this past Mother's Day was a different story. I ordered the usual and a few hours later had projectile vomiting. The shrimp was obviously bad. I only ate a quarter of the dish and that was it. I did not have anything else to eat, so I know it was this food. Sorry, but they lost me as a customer forever!!
