I requested extra peanuts and they did it! I love the texture of extra crushed peanuts and they did not skimp on it! Great attention! Banana sticky rice - one of my favorite desserts... I always find that lots of places don't give enough coconut cream sauce... and my request for extra coconut cream on the side was also honored. I'm a very happy camper. Good portions and perfect to share but I kept both to myself lol In Conclusion: the service and attention to detail... even for a to-go/delivery order was really awesome. I've passed Thai At Lex so many times but finally had an opportunity to try their food. It's often busy, so I knew that was a good sign. Also, one of our members who I trust when it comes to food recommendations raves about this restaurant. We ordered a few dishes. Vegetable tofu noodle soup ($15)- The broth was light, the vegetables were plentiful and there were a good number of noodles too. I loved that with the vegetable tofu noodle soup, you can add any protein for free. I added shrimp and they were super generous. There must have been six shrimp in my soup! Chicken satay ($12)- I have to say, this was the one thing we ordered that I felt missed the mark. The chicken was tough and definitely not tender. The accompanying sauces were very good. Pad see eiw ($18)- This was very delicious! I love the flat noodles and there was a nice amount of sauce. There was a generous amount of chicken too. This is a good neighborhood Thai joint that is small in space but big on flavor. I came in today just to get a lunch special and they were open after the snowstorm. The staff were very friendly and it's a cozy space. I would definitely not bring a big group here, but if you just wanna do a lunch date with a friend, it's a perfect spot for a quiet meal. Their lunch specials range from $15-$18 depending on what protein you order. It comes with either a soup or salad and then a choice of a small appetizer with your main meal. Very nice people but food is only meh compared with other Thai restaurants in the area. Came here once five years ago and wasn't impressed but decided to give it a second chance recently and try the drunken noodles. I asked for them mild and they were a little spicier than other places make for mild. The noodles lacked that "char" that gives them a tiny sweetness to offset the spicy, so it just felt like steamed noodles stirred with spicy siracha. The chicken was minimal at best. I went here for a quick lunch for the first time with a friend, after reading excellent reviews. It is a very small restaurant and it was packed. Very good service, and the food was very good. We are both vegans so we were happy to have some good choices on the menu. The place is attractive, for sure. It's a very small restaurant with about 8 small tables. Was pretty busy on a weekday evening. The chicken skewers came in 4 large pieces, was well seasoned, tasty and not dry. The beef stew was delicious, lots of tender meat and good noodles (could use more). The chicken noodle was bad. I usually don't review a place if I get take out because then I don't get to take into account the ambiance and everything in the restaurant. When I went to go pick it up the ambiance was intimate and fun so it seemed like a good place with outdoor seating too. When it came to the food it was just lacking a lot of flavor in both items. The pad see eiw was all just one note of sweet from the soy sauce. I didn't really get anything else. The pork felt low quality as it was really chewing and fibery. The chicken was also extremely fibery. It wasn't awful but I will be getting takeout from somewhere else when I want a noodle fix. read more

The service during late lunch (3:30pm) is not busy at all. But yet they forgot my thai ice tea. One entree came quick and I waited over 15 mins to find out that they forgot my other order!!! It's practically empty here. So I don't understand how the waitress takes an order and not put it through to the kitchen right away. They have not once walked over to check on us, rather I had to ask about both my thai ice tea and 2nd entree. Spring rolls are given for the lunch special and it's very oily. They do not drain the oil before serving it. The dipping sauce is not even sweet thai chili, it's a watered down version with vinegar. Absolutely disappointed at this establishment especially when It's not busy at all. There were only two other table's, thats all!! Pad see ew - you can see the douse of white pepper splashed onto the top of the food sheet than mixed into the food. The seasoning is on the sweeter side, not enough veggies, and the beef is dry. Drunken noodle- the forgotten plate was rushed out and as a result all you see is loads of peppers and the seeds which makes it extremely spicy, there is absolutely no sauce where the noodles taste bland. The portions were enormous. I don't think other places usually gives that much even for dinner. I just wish there were more vegetables though. The service overall was okay. I paired my food with a Lychee iced tea which was really, really sweet. (It gives southern iced tea a run for its money on the sweetness!) I ended up adding water to it, which made it easier to drink. I was looking forward to viewing the dessert menu, and likely having dessert. However, once my meal finished, the waitress handed me the check. I felt surprised and a bit confused by this, because she didn't ask if I wanted to order anything else BUT asked the tables beside me if they wanted to order anything else. Quick. Fresh. Delicious. I visited this restaurant in the late afternoon on a weekday. The restaurant was at approximately 35% capacity and was calm. I was promptly greeted and seated. The host guided me to the menu and poured me a cool glass of water. The culinary selections were detailed, and the menu was easy to navigate. As a lover of curries, I quickly headed there. The server returned within 3-4 minutes and took my order. She was respectful and made note of my wheat/gluten allergy. The restaurant decor was sleek and minimalist yet comfortable. The house music was playing at a low level. Although the restaurant is at an intersection, I could not hear any street traffic. About 8 minutes after placing my order, the server returned with my dish. The portion size was generous. I had to wait a few minutes to allow the meal to cool off as it was still producing steam (This was not an issue for me). The panang curry was well-balanced, the chicken was tender, and the vegetables had an excellent crisp/bite. I was shocked at the quality of the dish for the price. My friend and I came here on a Thursday around 3 pm for a late lunch, and luckily, they still had a lunch special going on. They had a list of different proteins to choose from that you pair with an entree (noodles, curries, etc.), and each entree comes with a complimentary soup/salad and appetizer. I got the green curry with chicken, Tom yum soup, and Thai steamed dumplings. My friend got the Panang curry with tofu, salad, and spring rolls. Portions: Both of our meals came out to be $12 each, so we felt like it was a great deal especially since we got a soup/salad, appetizer, and entree. We were both full after, and I didn't end up finishing my rice. Taste: This was my first time having Tom yum soup, so I honestly don't know what authentic Tom yum soup tastes like, but to me, it tasted like a sweet and sour soup without the sweetness (if that makes sense haha). It was also slightly spicy, which gave the soup a nice kick. The steamed dumplings had meat inside and the dipping sauce was thick and sweet. Very good! The green curry was medium spicy, which was perfect because it wasn't too spicy to the point that I couldn't enjoy my meal, but still enough spice to add some flavor to the dish. The chicken itself didn't have too much flavor, but because it was sitting in curry sauce, each bite still had a lot of flavor. Service: Service here was great! We were seated immediately (they had both indoor and outdoor seating). We sat indoors, and halfway through our meal it began pouring, but the people dining outside were still sheltered under a roof, so they were still able to enjoy their outdoor dining experience. The waiters frequently refilled our water, and because this restaurant was smaller, they were quick to clean our dishes and bring us the bill. Very happy with the service. Overall, we had a great experience here. For the low price, we got a lot of food that was all pretty decent. Prices are a little high, but what do you expect when eating in the UES. What I Ordered: Shrimp Pad Thai & Tofu Pad Thai- came with 7 pieces of large shrimp, tofu came with more pieces. Very nuanced with flavor, leaning to the sweet side and absolutely not spicy. I especially loved the little bits of pickled red onion.
