I've had Los Compadres and Perlita's and well, they don't even come close!!! Cristina's beats them hands down. I really like the environment too. It's much quieter than the other 2 places even if they are packed, which happens during lunch, so get there asap. This is locally owned and ran by a family who does everything. The Mom cooks, her kids (20's and 30's) are servers and bussers. They do a fantastic job, the place is clean, smells nice AND the prices are thee best in town. I wanted to like this place more based on the amazing Yelp reviews and the incredibly friendly woman taking our order, but honestly, the veggie burrito we ordered was just okay. And this after receiving only $0.40 off the cost of the same burrito with meat. I'm not used to paying over $8.00 for a vegetarian burrito. But the biggest reason for giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 was the layering of the burrito. It was layered so that you don't get all the items in one bite, but instead one bite heavy in one thing and then a few bites later heavy with something else. Maybe it was just my burrito and they normally don't do this, but both my girlfriend and I looked at each other after the first two bites and started laughing without saying a word because it's a bit of a pet peeve of ours. This place is pretty mediocre. It was really busy when we went, which was nice to see. I was expecting an amazing meal with flavor after hearing so many positive reviews, but that wasn't the case. I ordered the verde enchilada with pork. The flavor almost seemed sweet. It was a little odd. Their rice was great though! My husband ordered the taco meal and that's what it was...a basic plain taco with rice and beans. There wasn't anything special, no amazing flavor, no pizzazz! Before our food arrived, they did provide us with chips and salsa. I wish the chips were fresh because they tasted a little stale, but their spicy salsa was really good!! Other than that, I think we would try it one more time, to give them a chance for redemption, but then again, it is crescent city, so maybe my expectations were just too high. read more

Picked Cristina's because of the reviews AND it was my birthday and Mexican is my favorite. So very very very pleased. Excellent food. I had a green (the hot) enchilada with shredded beef, oh how wonderful it was the beef cooked perfectly tender moist (not dried out like most place) the green sauce was perfect. My husband got 2 cheese enchiladas one red (red was more of a mole and very tasty) one green he loved them both, the beans and rice were good too. The service was family and wonderful.
