This is a great Mexican food restaurant in a little mall that is a little on the run down side. Just don't let the parking lot worry you. Cristina's is very clean and neat. The food is very good. I had a tamale with rice and beans. The tamale is one of the better I have eaten. The pork was tender and well seasoned, the rice seasoned nicely and perfectly cooked and the beans were great. My wife had the cheese enchilada. I know cheese enchilada what's to talk about. Well she said the enchilada was the best she has had. Again the seasoning was excellent and tortilla just right. We stopped here for lunch with our 4 year old twins during our trip to the redwoods. The owners were very nice and welcoming. It's a family owned and run business with delicious food. They make their own flour tortillas so I HIGHLY recommend getting something made with them. They are hand made, warm and soft. Anyway, I really liked them, obviously. The rice is authentic, not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant chain orange bland rice. It was fluffy and full of flavor. The mild salsa was so fresh tasting and the hot (which was my favorite) was just hot enough and one of the best salsas I've had. Wow! I have always loved Mexican food but this meal has really blown me away! First of all the chips were perfectly crispy, not too thin or too thick and the service was very quick and efficient. I guess being off 101 and closed on weekends hurts this fine restaurant, because only 4 reviews for a 25-year-old restaurant seems shocking. We've been dining there since '89 and still do whenever we can, although we've moved to a location 35 miles away. They make a chile relleno that cannot be found elsewhere (and we always order one, for comparison, when we're traveling) and, while the rice and beans are fine by themselves, stirred together they have a unique symbiosis. They do an excellent pork tamale. Homemade tortillas are another (almost) unique item on the menu. We know there are other excellent things on the menu but, since we only get there two or three times a year, we always order the relleno, tamale, and tortillas. As a creature of habit I am very loyal to businesses that I like/love. I have been going to Cristinas since I moved here in 1988. I get the #11...every time I have ever been there. (The rest of the menu is amazing according to my friends and family, but when I like something I stick with it) I hope they never close and keep the recipes for all generations to come.
