We came here on the way to the Trees of Mystery and sooo glad we did! The cutest small town diner. We were greeted so warmly when we walked in by the owner and the cooks as well and the service was superb throughout. We didn't even have to ask for coffee refills. The inside is so cozy yet super comfortable and very clean. They were playing beautiful, peaceful, soul inspiring music which really set the vibe. The pancakes here at the main attraction, they are so thick and fluffy and perfectly shaped! The cinnamon sugar one is a show stopper! But everyone said they loved everything they ordered. If you are in the area, this one is a must!

Fluffy delicious pancakes! They should be called cake pans!

This place is a must have! So glad we stopped by! Cozy little restaurant with a super awesome vibe! The food is amazing the pancakes are so delicious fluffy and perfect! My wife had the cinnamon sugar pancakes and they were a game changer! I'm so bummed I live 10 hours away! This made our Redwood trip complete! Also the owner is sweetheart and she takes major pride in providing amazing service! We will definitely be back!

What an amazing place. The Fry Bread breakfast was delicious! I made the rookie mistake of asking for toast, but was immediately informed by the charming owner that toast would not be necessary. Good thing, too - it was huge! Run, don't walk to the Log Cabin Breakfast Express. It's a quintessential local diner. P.S. we're going again tomorrow.

The cafe is located directly next to the Motel of Trees. Upon entering the Blue Ox Cafe, we were warmly greeted by a welcoming and friendly server (she was our server on the next night as well!). The decor is unique and inviting. We loved the beautiful tree slab tables and the hand painted sea creature mural! We sat next to a cuddly life size stuffed animal in the form of a bear! On our first night at the restaurant, I had ordered a decadent and comforting grilled cheese sandwich with french fries. Both were delicious! The fries were cooked to perfection! Those fries were the best I have ever tasted! On the second night, we had breakfast for dinner, as they currently serve breakfast all day beginning at 11am. I had a delicious and filling veggie omelet, crispy hash browns, and a light and fluffy buttermilk biscuit! I wish we could have taken the biscuits to go, but I'm not sure how they would have fared during our road trip home! Lastly, we shared blackberry cobbler for dessert! I'm normally a chocolate desserts kind of gal but I was so impressed by this cobbler! It was so yummy and decadent! If you are visiting the Trees of Mystery or just road tripping through the Redwoods, this is the restaurant to dine at for delicious food and friendly service!

The food itself was pretty good overall, although the fried fish had an actual pool of grease at the bottom of the basket. It seemed like there was only one waiter on staff, and that he would really rather be doing something else. He mostly avoided the tables, walking very slowly when it was time to take the order of the table next to us. He then slowly walked right past our table, as if we didn't exist. At no point did anyone check in on us. Our water was long gone, and there wasn't even anybody to ask to come refill it. They never gave us utensils either, so we had to eat everything with our bare hands. Eventually, the waiter sauntered over, and said "are you guys done?" I pointed out that we never got utensils, and asked for more water. He eventually returned with both, and then disappeared for another 20 minutes. Even when we told the busser that we were ready to pay the check, it took a long time for our wait or to reappear. Waiting tables isn't an easy job. I know that from experience. The food was pretty decent, so it seems like the kitchen has their act together. But the front of the house really seemed like they wanted to be *anywhere* else.

The staff at Trinidad Bay Eatery were all exceptionally kind and appeared to genuinely engage with their guests. The atmosphere is exactly what one would hope for in a coastal eatery. We ordered clam chowder, fish and chips, and a chicken ciabatta sandwich. The chowder was excellent and among the top chowders I've ever enjoyed. The fish and chips were plentiful and the quality and thickness of the fish were unmatched. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich and fries with a California branded malt vinegar. We HIGHLY recommend stopping by!

Okay, fine -- maybe dogs aren't allowed in certain areas, not a big deal. So we figured we'd just order the food to go instead. Nope. Two days in a row we were told they couldn't do takeout. At that point, it just felt like there was zero flexibility or willingness to work with customers. That's really disappointing, especially for a place with such a good reputation. Unfortunately, the lack of flexibility is what lost us.
