You would never expect this place is there if you didn't already know. Is in commercial business park but you will see a line forming when you turn in. The inside of the restaurant is super small maybe enough for 4 people to stand up. The prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic. My husband and I stumbled upon this hidden gem while searching Yelp for spots near the airport--and we're so glad we did! If you're not paying close attention, you might drive right past it without realizing it's there. But once you step inside, the friendly staff immediately makes you feel welcome. We started with a cherry and cream cheese Danish, which the staff kindly offered to warm up for us. The pastry was light, perfectly flaky, and had just the right amount of sweetness--absolutely delicious! While we waited for our bagel sandwich (about 10-15 minutes), we noticed a steady stream of customers lining up outside. Always a good sign! When our sandwich arrived, it exceeded expectations. The jalapeño bagel was soft with just the right kick, and the combination of egg, cheese, bacon, and avocado was spot-on--flavorful, satisfying, and not at all dry (a common issue with breakfast sandwiches, but not here!). The house salsas on the side added a zesty touch. The sandwich was a good portion and plenty for my husband and I to share after the pastry. I went here for lunch on a Saturday. It's a tiny store with no space for indoor seating. It's best to order ahead to skip the line. They tend to get busy during lunchtime. For good reason too! Their sandwiches are delicious. I got the chipotle chicken sandwich with avocado and chips my husband got the ham torta. He also got the tres leches cake. The portions were pretty big and satisfying. My sandwich was more on the "wet" side because of the chipotle sauce and the mashed avocado. I got a bit of the ham torta and it was delicious! The total came to about $40 with tip. read more

This is a legit Mexican bakery and take-out food place. It's located out of the way and around the back of a back road in a small strip mall, next to a dog daycare center. Don't let any of this deter you from trying this place out! The breakfast burrito is excellent, with just the right amount of egg, potatoes, avocado, cheese, peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes. Go for the red sauce, if you're feeling brave. It's perfectly hot. They also have menudo on weekends, and hard to find items like birria and adobado. Yeah, they have tripe, but I haven't tried that one yet. The rest I can vouch for. This is also a bakery, so they have the staple shell-shaped Mexican bread, and a few other things that are so well executed that you can almost go with anything and you'll be impressed. Cristino's Bakery is a must try if you're in the area! I remember coming here for the first time and there were no lines or long wait times, well those days are gone so come here with patience or just call in your order ahead of time if you're in a hurry! There is no indoor/outdoor dining so you will need to take your food to go, or sit in your car like me if your hangry and stuff your face gracefully. It's really nice to see how much Cristino's business has grown and I am always happy to support this local restaurant. The staff here is super friendly and you can tell they appreciate everyone that comes here. The food is made with love and everything I've had thus far has been flavorful and delicious. I finally made it here on a Sunday afternoon and was excited to try their Beef Birria Tacos. I didn't even realize they served 3 tacos with the order, so it was a lovely surprise when I opened the box to see three fully loaded tacos. These tacos were amazing!! They were served hot and had a slight crispiness to them. The meat was super tender, juicy and flavorful. You also get a nice serving of their savory consume, which also has little pieces of meat. I opted for the mild green salsa which was perfectly made and not watery. I'm always on the search for a decent breakfast burrito made with chorizo, and this place has nailed it! They don't use the plain chorizo you get in most restaurants; at least my taste buds picked up on the difference here. I would compare the taste being similar to a pastor flavored chorizo. Even the pieces inside resembled pastor. The ratio of potatoes, cheese, eggs and chorizo are well balanced in this burrito and will be a winner in my heart forever! The torta de jamon (ham) is a delicious sandwich made with a fresh bolillo, layers of ham, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, avocado and mayo. A perfect sandwich that is simple yet satisfying. They also have a nice variety of Mexican breads, cookies and pastries available. I was on the hunt for fresh tortillas in Santa Barbara. It turns out they are really hard to find. I called Cristino's to see if they had any and they did not, but they offered to sell me some of the tortilla's they buy. When I arrived to scope them out, I decided they were not what I was looking for. The woman I spoke to on the phone was super nice and the cashier that greeted me was also super gracious. I couldn't leave empty handed, so I bought a couple pastries and two pieces of their tres leches cake. The cake was delicious! It was not overly sweet and had the right amount of cinnamon. One piece was slightly drier than the other, so there was a little inconsistency there, but it was otherwise very good. They bake everything there. I got a torta and two tacos I ate 70 percent of the split in half torta the ingredients looked good the food looked pretty but I got a slight stomach ache after eating it. Each serving comes with 3 tacos and consomme, which you pour on top of the birria. The portions are super big (2 were enough to make me full!). The cheese tart was super delicious as well. They kind of look like a portuguese egg tart, but the filling is cheese instead of egg. Their customer service was super good, 5/5. The ladies were so sweet and friendly to my friends and me. I've tried birria tacos in LA, but they are hard to come by in SB (the only place I know that has them here is Yona Redz). Honestly I think Cristino's are better than Yona Redz; better in quality, quantity, taste, and value! The Birria tacos are their "weekend special", comes with 3 LARGE tacos, consome, onions & cilantro. I ate this for 3 meals - one meal of 1.5 tacos, I made nachos with the extra meat, and made birria ramen with the rest of the meat and consome. Please give this a try, you will not be disappointed! It's been four years since I moved back to Santa Barbara, and Cristino's was one of my first reviews. Cristino and his wife Lorena had just opened his bakery/restaurant and I had the privilege of being one of his first regulars. And now congratulations to Cristino and his staff for staying committed to our community and serving up some of the most delicious Mexican foods and bakery goods. Their menu of regular items and weekly specials has been consistent even through these crazy COVID times. I have been a regular fan of their assorted burritos, with their Burrito a la Mexicana being my favorite. They now they have been featuring their Birria with Consume and all the fixings, and fresh Tamales each day. The Tamales do sell out regularly so I recommend getting there early for them. And Sundays have been made extra special with their delicious Menudo. Chances are you'll notice where they are by the line of people waiting to place orders.
