Let me share my experience. I know Jim personally. He used to brag about going out to Route 27 near the Everglades with an air rifle, using the animals he trapped for target practice. He once told me, with no remorse, how he slammed a cat against the wall because it was meowing or not listening to him. He described how the poor animal staggered around in circles afterward, clearly in distress. He knew I was an animal lover, yet he seemed to take pleasure in telling me these horrifying stories--almost as if he enjoyed my discomfort. One day, he came by where I lived and removed a dead duck, tossing it casually into the back of his truck. Moments later, I heard a loud thrashing noise coming from the truck bed. When I asked what it was, he told me it was a raccoon he had captured. That raccoon was trapped in the back of his truck--in the middle of summer, in Florida heat--right next to the decaying body of the duck. The smell was unbearable. When I asked him what he planned to do with the raccoon, he told me he'd take it out to Route 27 the next morning and shoot it with his air rifle. I said, "That raccoon's going to be in your truck all night?" and he just shrugged, like it was nothing. To those of you who have given him glowing reviews--I understand. He presents himself as friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. And yes, he can do a good job. But that's only one side of him. There's another side--the side I saw. The side that takes pleasure in torturing helpless animals. The stories he shared and boasted with me were disturbing beyond words. They made my skin crawl. I wish I had proof, but I don't. There are more stories...however, what I can do is be a voice for the voiceless. The next time someone hires him, ask what he does with the animals he traps. Transporting a raccoon to another location legally is extremely difficult. In most cases, they're euthanized--yes, even baby raccoons. Invasive animals can not be relocated, that's what he told me himself. He boasted about it. He talked about the Everglades and his air rifle, but that's not the part he shares with customers. It's been way too long since I've held my tongue...I'm sorry I didn't help the innocent raccoon that day...I felt so helpless Maybe the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) should take notice. read more

I was referred to Critter Cops by another service. I was looking for someone to remove a kitten from my attic. Jim was amazing! He located the kitten immediately. Because he had to make a hole to get it out, he returned the next day to patch up the hole. Later that night, I thought I heard a very faint meow. He could have said he would return in the morning, since it was last and I was not sure (the meow was extremely faint), but he came back. This time he found 4, yes 4 more kittens. Apparently mama cat got into my attic had a litter of 7. 5 fell into a wall so she abandoned them and she saved 2 which we found outside the house. Jim from Critter Cops always goes above and beyond!! He got rid of roof rats in our attic a couple of years ago, sealed up the house, and decontaminated our attic. Jim stands by his work and offers a yearly maintenance contract. Less than one year later, a raccoon tore the roof shingle off and another rat came into our attic. Jim took care of the job quickly and cleaned it all up! We just renewed our maintenance contract again this year. Jim came out to make sure that our home was still properly sealed and that our attic was critter-free. When I say that Jim goes above and beyond...it's not just critters. He pointed out a roof leak and fire hazard that we took care of right away. We had a handful of contractors up on our roof that didn't notice or mention these issues. Jim is now outside getting rid of a bee's nest that my kids noticed playing in the backyard yesterday. I was referred to Jim by a friend of mine who has an exterminator business, he said he and other companies call Jim when they cannot find the issue, not kidding. Jim caught the racoon right away and when the roofer couldn't come right away, another raccoon came in. If I could give 0 stars I would. Jim is very unprofessional and rude. I heard noises in my walls at night and Jim came over to place traps. He explained that it was roof rats but REFUSED to go up to my attic and check if it was actually rats. He then stated that he didn't need to because he "has 19 years of experience." In my opinion, having 19 years of experience doesn't excuse laziness - as he did not want to go up to my attic and check. He then placed traps but they were peanut butter traps, I have NEVER seen a professional exterminator use peanut butter traps. After, he charged me an enormous amount and then removed the traps that I PAID for and said that he couldn't keep them out since they were peanut butter traps - why would you place them then. He then came back later and stated that he needed to place new traps and wanted to charge me another ENORMOUS amount of money to replace the traps that he removed. Also, he is VERY hard to get in contact with. There has been multiple times where I had tried to contact him and he did not respond. read more

I have used Jim several times and he has always been excellent. I had a botched bee hive removal that got rid of the bees but left the hive. Afterwards, I had a massive fly problem. Critter Cops properly got rid of the left over hive and the flies. I have also used him to inspect my house for potential points of entry for rats. Well worth doing the preventative work. read more

He came out quickly after I contacted him and diagnosed my issue, set traps and sealed up any entrances to my house that these pesky critters can crawl into. The whole process took about 3 weeks, but after about a week I was no longer hearing the terrifying scratching noise coming from my ceiling at night. He also offers a 1 year warranty on his work and once the year is up you can purchase an extended warranty. Jim is personable, always has an interesting story to tell, and knowledgeable about critters. I know way more about rats than I ever wanted to know but he helped me understand more what was going on with my situation. I mean no offense when I say I hope I never have to see Jim again lol. I am so glad we found this company. A few years ago we had an issue with squirrels in the attic and someone recommend Critter Cops. Jim came out the same day we called and true to his word, he was able to catch and remove them. He does not kill them, he is able to release them miles away. I am currently having an issue with rats in the attic and called. Jim remembered exactly who I was and came out within a few hours. He was able to crawl all the way back into the attic and look at all the pipes, went on the roof and found where they had come in from. He went back into the attic and found the pipe they came from and sealed it. In conversation, he filled me in on how many animals he has saved and cleaned up and brought to the humane society for adoption. He is an animal lover and spends a lot of his own money to care for strays he finds.
