There seems to be a lot of turnover with the veterinarians, I have had a new one my last three visits. The visits always seem to take a lot longer than typical vet visits. Also when my fog was a pup, he banged his leg in a case of the zoomies and the vet at that time said he needed $3000 knee surgery. incorrect diagnosis, he soon got better. The last visit they finally had a correct diagnosis and found the right allergy med but they wont give me a refill unless I get him a $200 blood test. Needles to say, im finding a new vet. Had to take my baby girl shihtzu in for an emergency after she injured herself. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to squeeze us in on an emergency basis, and we were new patients. Our original vet could not fit us in on a Saturday. Dr. Duff took his time to examine Priss thoroughly, but did not rush to order expensive tests that were unnecessary at this juncture. He set out a conservative treatment plan for my pup and took time to explain canine spinal anatomy, the potentially herniated disc, and potential paths forward. Do not board your dog with this facility under any circumstances. Our dog was allowed to defecate in his room multiple times before I ever even received a phone call. I dropped our very happy 11 month old Belgian Malinois "Kobe" off on a Friday for a long weekend stay. While we are a family of four in a very social neighborhood, Kobe is still very much a "covid puppy" and leery of strangers. I received a call on Monday at noon from the office manager "Trish" stating that Kobe defecated in his room and would not allow anyone to "clean him off". Trish wanted to know if I would authorize Kobe to be sedated in order for him to be bathed prior to my scheduled pickup. We have had Kobe since he was eight weeks old and he has never made a bowel movement in our home. I mean that very literally. However, he has also never been boarded before so I asked how often he was given the opportunity to relieve himself outdoors. Trish stated that Kobe would was behaving nervously whenever staff would attempt to leash him to take him outside; although insisting he was given several opportunities to do his business. While this information seemed incredibly conflicting to me, I was more concerned with how soon I could pick him up. I authorized the sedation, and was told he would be bathed Tuesday morning by their groomer and that I would receive a call when he was ready. When I arrived to pick him up, I was presented with credit card terminal bearing my total balance - without an itemized bill. I asked if I could speak with Trish to better understand what happened prior to making my payment. Trish advised that Kobe first defecated in his room on Sunday. When I asked why I didn't receive a phone call, she stated that Kobe's behavior was not uncommon for a dog being boarded for the first time, and that she did not want to disturb me. I then asked why it made more sense to allow him to make bowel movements in his room instead of calling me, and Trish stated that she personally made the decision not to call me because she had no way knowing he would do so again - only for the staff to arrive Monday morning and discover that he had done so again. To add insult to injury, when I was finally presented with an itemized bill it included the $40 bath she offered as a solution. Kobe spent (at least) the night covered in his own feces - and the people I entrusted with his care thought I would pay for their solution. Once the billing matter was resolved I was guided to Kobe's room to retrieve him. I found him soaking wet, muzzled, and violently shaking. That's right - the bath they thought I'd pay for apparently did not include drying. I requested a towel and to speak with the vet. The vet was kind and apologetic and insisted that Kobe was simply cold and not negatively reacting to the sedative. On the way out, I had Kobe jump on their scale. He lost 10lb during his stay. 14% of his total bodyweight. If you care about your dog(s) the way I do, you will steer clear of this business. read more

it was my first time going there, I adopted a puppy recently. The staff at the reception area were welcoming. They gave me information about grooming and other things. We saw Dr. Duff he was great. He got down on the ground with my puppy trying to make her feel comfortable. We talked about all different vaccinations and what they were and what he would recommend. I felt extremely comfortable with him and trusted what he recommended. He spent a long time going over everything. Had a fantastic visit and would highly recommend. They have little homemade dog treats out front you can buy, both my dogs loved them. read more

We would like to express how deeply disappointed and disatisfied we were with Brixton Pet Health. We brought in two of our dogs for day camp three days this week to find out they only allow a maximum of four hours of playtime per day. Now keeping in my mind the dogs were there all day from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. We were under the impression since they were all day they would be getting much more play time. Our puppy was not tired at all. We were appalled with the response we received from the assistant manager. She told us we should take our business elsewhere since we were disappointed with them. We were stunned with a response coming from an up-and-coming business that is struggling with getting customers. We asked questions of when the dogs were out for play and she couldn't really give us a definite answer. We watched them periodically throughout the day on the cameras the provide on their website. We took snap shots of the photos (see below). We questioned the assistant manager in each photo. In one of the photos you can see one of the associates squirting one of the dogs with a water bottle. When asked for the reason, the assistant manager said they usual squirt the dogs with water when they are mishaving or being naughty. Which, I agree with her reason. However in the photo this is not the case. She is sitting against the wall just squirting the dog. In another one of the photos the same associate is sitting playing with her phone. When we brought this to the attention of the assistant manger she told us they often take pictures for their website and social media. It doesn't look like she is taking any pictures here. She's just sitting and looking at her phone ignoring the dogs. And in the final picture the associate is just standing there talking to another one of the associates. We are deeply disappointed with this facility. As were advised by the assistant manager, we also urge you to take your business elsewhere. read more

After a quick visit to Thrive, with our Flame Point Siamese who was so sick Dr Chen suggested to bring him right up on a Friday at 6pm! He spent an hour with him & I. Dr Chen explained why Charlie's breathing was congested, why he had a uti & other problems. At first I chose Thrive thinking they would know right away. NOPE! $300 later I wouldn't find anything out until Monday! Charlie was NOT going to be stable by Monday! Thank you to everyone at Brixton. Came to this place for the first time for grooming. Brought my 8 year old Snauzher and he was hairy and matted. I was advised to cut his hair down due to the problem in his hair and we accepted asking the groomer to save as much as possible. When picked up, the dog began to show signs of discomfort which can be normal after grooming. Yet the discomfort continue throughout the night to the point our dog could not sleep as he cried all night long. We then realized he had a terrible red rash on his testicles and private parts and what it seemed like burns from the clippers. We went ahead and put cold compresses on our poor dog for relief. Three days went by and our dog got worse to the point that his testicls began to turn red and yellow and his was in so much pain he didn't want to eat, play nor do anything. Called this place to pacify the situation and find a way to resolve this. I was given a 'free vet visit' which is pathetic given that they are vets here. The vet saw him and said he has a double infection which is generally caused by abrasions on the skin usually caused by grooming and it resulted in a double infection on our dog. There were no notes saying the dog had any pre-condition nor any issues with abrasions or problems. I was then charged for medications and Brixtoj said it was probably a condition from my dog and it was due to matting. My dog came here perfectly fine and left terribly with a place fighting with its first time customers that they were right and I was wrong. You not only lost a customer, I will make sure this message of animal cruelty will be in every site. DO NOT GROOM YOUR DOGs here! Terrible experience and then they had the audacity to charhe me for everything even though they fail. Disgusting!!! read more

I held off writing this because I try never to speak in anger, rather I wait until I can speak objectively. I've waited long enough, I'm less angry but more heart-broken: We left our beloved Wrigley in the "CARE" of this place, Brixton Pet Hospital. He was perfectly healthy when we dropped him off as we headed out to take our son to school in Massachusetts. That was the first of September--I'll jump to the latest prognosis: Wrigs was infected with what is deemed by other Vets as an incurable bacterium--contracted when bitten by another dog while in the "CARE" of Brixton. Now, we're told, after weeks of expensive, heart-rending treatment, that the only way to save his life is to amputate the leg--and there are no guarantees. Brixton people were careless and to make it worse they were uncaring--never once apologizing. They pointed to (figuratively) a disclaimer in the papers we signed when we took Wrigley there--I didn't know you could disclaim negligence, but they seem to think so. Wrigley was adopted from 'death row' in Birmingham Alabama about nine years ago. For months, he didn't make a sound, scurried in fear into hiding whenever a stranger was in the house. He remains to this day, afraid of anyone wearing a baseball cap. We don't know his history but can guess from that behavior. But, we loved him and he loved us back. My sweet wife feels like we let him down--I don't believe that for a minute, but we, as pet lovers, as customers were truly let-down. The meds and frequent bandage changes have cost us $2000 that we really don't have. The amputation is likely to be that much more. I'm retired, we're living off Social Security and our meager savings, but we don't have a choice--Wrigs is part of our family. Want to know what I think of Brixton? read more

I checked this review out before booking and thought it was going to be a good experience for my pet. The staff was nice over the phone and upon arrival my dog was greeted great. However, I was not pleased when I watched the live cams during my dogs stay. First off I called to ask if I could know a round about time of when I could see my dog during play time since they have live cameras. I was told that they could not give me a time because they do things different in the back. I never saw my dog and also paid for additional play time which was 8 dollars for each additional play added. Second of all, I noticed that there was a male employee that would not interact with the dogs at all. In fact he would even walk away or move his arm away when the dog wanted some attention. He was on his phone several times and sitting on the dogs running board that was in the play area. He clearly showed a lack of enthusiasm and it was apparent that he did not really care to play with the dogs. I felt it was extremely unprofessional and gave me a bad taste the moment I saw how distant he was being with the dogs. I saw that the potty breaks were literally 5 mins long which is a little alarming that the dogs are given 3 breaks for the entire day which is only 15 minutes out of the cage. Unless you buy added play time then your dog will get literally 15 min for the day. NOT happy about that. I thought my dog would have a little more time out of the cage. I was also charged 2.00 and a 1.00 per day for the staff to feed my dog with my own food and treats that I brought. I was not aware that I'd be charged and was extremely disappointed to see I was charged for the staff having to feed my dog with my own food. The only reason I'm even giving this a 1 star is because I did see some staff interact and play with the dogs while in play time and the politeness I was given during check in and check out. But over all I was not happy with what I saw on the live cameras and my payment at check out. If your thinking about going here then I'd highly recommend watching the live cameras first to see if your pleased with the interaction given to the animals. Also, there was a previous review about another dissatisfied customer who voiced concerns about a employee on their phone... I saw that the company apologized and gave some spill about the employees using iPods to take photos of the animals and upload them. All I gotta say is yes their was some employees doing this but it was obvious because they had a camera and were literally hovering in the dogs face and following the dog to get a pic. However, it's a horrible excuse when the employee never sticks their arm out and directly points the camera in the dogs directions. It's obvious the employee is on their personal phone when they are nose deep in the device with it pointed to the floor... read more

A bit strange I know, but I operate on absolute instinct/gut feeling and each time I drove past Brixton, I knew that this would be our new primary care pet vet. Today was the first time that we needed a vet since they have opened (and in quite some time). The staff was so courteous/professional and helpful. The facility is pristine with a waiting area for kids to play with ipads and watch kittens through a large window. Price was expected, but really seems to be the new type of veterinary care and something I had not yet experienced. We will be back, hopefully for healthy check-ups! BAD REVIEW- Brixton Pet Vet. I have used Old Town animal hopsital for YEARS and today went ot Brixton, since it's closer. My dog has "happy tail" which basically means that her tail, when banged up against things while she is happy, breaks open and bleeds, all over the house. Like seriously, my house looks like a murder scene. So today I go to Brixton, get charged $78..00 for an antibiotic, and $61.00 foir the Dr to wrap it. Upon getting home, she had her tail out of the bandage within 5 minutes. I called and told them what happened and ASSUMED they would let me bring her back in tomorrow to have it wrapped again, at no charge. WRONG! They want to charge me for their Vet's crappy wrapping job. They won't take back the meds (which at old town, they know to call in anything to CVS) and won't rewrap the tail that Boomer got out of in 5 minutes. I will be returning to Old Town and I told Brixton that they would be getting a bad review from me. They didn't seem to mind..... $223 later and my dogs tail is still bleeding and they wont do anything to fix it without charging me again. Terrible way to conduct business. read more

I was very disappointed in the lack of communication, customer service, and general lack of respect for my time. They charged us the incorrect amount, they forgot to groom our dog until right when I showed up to pick him up, they did not apply the discount previously discussed, and the Vet accidentally gave my dog a vaccine shot that he was not due for. Further, we had our dogs records at their "sister hospital" but were asked and called several times to have them faxed over. At which time we had to remind them they already had access to them. We were also called in the afternoon (after an 830 drop off) to remind them what shots our dog needed. Moreover, when I politely informed and then reminded them I was in a bit of a rush (I waited almost 45 minutes to pick up my dog and pay) I received nothing but blank stares and platitudes. I get they are new, but it'll be a long while before we return to them. read more

This clinic only wants your money. Our 12 year old dachshund suffered a back injury. This is not our first dachshund, and not our first back issue. The problem left him paralyzed, unable to control his bladder and in a lot of pain. This clinic wanted us to spend over $1,000 to try surgery, that may or may not help. When we selected euthanasia, they tried to talk us out of it and offered other, costly, interventions. Again, we said no. After the procedure, our bill was $50 more than what we were quoted. If you want loving, compassionate care for your fur baby, go elsewhere. read more

For a vet to look at my dog and tell me what tests they wanted to run cost $55 after tests I was to be looking at a $800 to 1g bill. Not only was their pricing way off they were trying to sell me stuff when I'm worried about my dog surviving. Needless to say I was not happy left with dog after paying his $55 bond and went to well pet center down the road. At the well pet center they ran the same tests Brixton was going to run for half the price. With tests vet fees and drugs dog needed my bill was under $300. The folks at the well pet center were very helpful and my hunting dog is hunting again. Won't go back to Brixton. read more

BEWARE IF THE GROOMER !!!! We recently moved here from Canada and wanted to get our puppy in asap for heartworm medication and flea medication. I thought it would be convenient to get him groomed at the same place as his visit. WORSE MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. My puppy was injured during the grooming process. I paid extra to have him expressed (which normally is included in all other grooming services that I have ever been to) He has been scooting and refuses to walk without yelping. I'm considering running him to a emergency vet since it's the holiday weekend. Don't get me started on his bamboo looking haircut either. Definitely bypass this place. Sometimes more expensive is definitely not better. This is a classic example. read more

They will take animal food donations if you want to help animals that need help. We have used them for over night accommodations for our dogs and the experience was good.
