If you're one of those people who obsesses about having the correct air pressure in their tires,…read morelook no further. Sal's is the ne plus ultra of gas station air hoses. I've met people from as far away as Brookline who make the trip to Billerica once a month just to use this magnificent air hose. It's not unusual to see a line of cars patiently waiting their turn for it. At most gas stations, the air hose is an afterthought. Often you have to hunt around for a greasy, tangled mess thrown negligently against the wall out back. Some places have the audacity to charge you 75 cents or even $1 for two short minutes of their precious air. Not so at Sal's. Its air hose is a clean, neatly coiled affair that's proudly located right up in front of the office. The chrome paddle trigger of the Amflo AMF150 Tire Inflator is smooth as silk, and the solid brass bar on its built-in air gauge calibrates in 2 PSI increments, allowing you to fill your tires with a precision you'd never dreamed possible. Want 32 pounds in the front and 34 pounds in the rear? No problem, Sal's air hose can do it in style, and do it for free. (Be sure to get there during business hours: Sal's disconnects the hose when closing as a theft prevention measure.)

One star for reasonably nice employees--other than that they deserve zero stars because they failed…read moreto complete the job. I live in a condo and someone was illegally parked in my spot, so I called for a tow. The truck came about 20 mins later--so far, so good (keep in mind, though, that I had to stay outside and/or in my car because I couldn't see them from my front door.) The guy fiddles with the equipment for about 5 minutes and says that the hydrolic fluid froze, rendering the tow truck useless. Uhhh...did you not get the memo that its been literally 10 degrees out this week? Does this company seriously not service their vehicles to make sure this doesn't happen?! Even though I thought it was grossly unprofessional to send a useless truck to a job, I had no choice but to wait for tow truck #2... Truck 2 arrives an additional 20 mins later. Meanwhile, I'm freezing and my developing chest cold is getting worse. Again, the guy fiddles around with the mechanisms/knobs/etc and just when it looks like he's about to be done and take off he says, "...of course it had to be an all-wheel drive." (referring to the car to be towed) indicating that truck #2 is also, in fact, useless for the job. At this point I was so infuriated not only about being coerced into waiting out in the cold, but also dumbfounded by how a company can be so outrageously incompetent. Again, since the company has a contract with my condo, I had no choice but to continue to freeze outside and wait for another tow truck. 10 minutes pass, then another, then another. It occurs to me that I've been waiting over an hour for something that should've taken 20 mins max. Just when I was about to inquire to the driver about exactly how long I was expected to wait, the moron parked in my space simply got in their car and took off. Awesome. Thank you, Hannon Auto, for wasting an hour of my time, making my chest cold worse, and making me lose a little bit more faith in mom and pop operations. You should seriously reconsider being in business. AVOID!
