Dropped in to this box today and it was great. I traveled in from SoCal to attend a work retreat and wanted to keep with my CrossFit routine. The online registration and class reservation was a breeze. Miles (the coach) greeted us when we arrived and helped get us assimilated to the gym, equipment, and group. He did a great job providing an overview of what to expect, direction on form when needed, and was encouraging/motivating throughout the session. The experience was much better than I expected my first out of state drop in to be. I am certainly coming back each time I'm in town. I love coming to CrossFit South Cobb! The coaches are very concerned with form and safety and the members are all friendly. I have previously been a member at two CrossFit gyms that went out of business, have been CrossFitting for 11 years, and I am happy to have a found a new home at CFSC. I tried to do my own thing in my garage during the pandemic, but it turns out that I just like the group atmosphere and camaraderie and I found it again at CFSC! Highly recommended! read more

I've been going here since August 2010. Previously I trained at a martial arts gym as well as LA Fitness. Initially going here was a test to see what benefit a CrossFit regimen would help me towards my fitness goals. I have to admit it's worked great towards my goals of improving my athleticism and keeping lean with short daily workouts. Beyond just the CrossFit regime, I believe the staff and clients at CrossFit South Cobb foster a friendly and motivating environment. An example would be the first time I stepped foot in the gym. I was actually on my way to visit another CrossFit gym nearby and mistakenly walked into CrossFit South Cobb. Miles, the owner, immediately greeted me. After realizing where I meant to go, Miles graciously directed me to the other gym and in fact talked up what a good group of trainers they had. After that interaction I was sure to come by and give his gym a trial as well. I'm happy I made it back to CrossFit South Cobb and continue to be a satisfied member. I'd encourage anyone who's the least bit interested in trying out CrossFit to drop by this gym and give it a try. After a few sessions you'll start seeing and feeling the sense of camaraderie here...and get a heck of a workout! read more

Crossfit offers variety and challenges that are unsurpassed by any other workout. I absolutely love the Crossfit workouts. This gym however, not so much. When becoming a member at CFSC it is required that you complete a beginners course. During the beginners course, conducted by the owner, you learn quite a bit. After the beginners course you expect to continue to learn more and receive some of the attention and instruction you received during the beginners course. However, the beginners course ends up becoming a ploy to get you to join the gym (which is crazy expensive) and after you pay, the friendliness and instruction goes out the window. I personally feel that although this gym has many benefits such as size and knowledgeable trainers, it is very cult like, as mentioned below by another user review (although that user disagreed). I agree that everyone at Crossfit wants to see you succeed, but if you cannot commit to going to the gym six days a week and prefer the gym three times a week after work, you can forget being accepted here by the trainers or the members. The trainers make you feel inadequate and the members only talk to each other. Additionally, CFSC toots its horn about being different from other gyms. It claims that it never requires its members to sign a contract. However, if you are dissatisfied you can forget getting your money back from them. Instead of wasting $35-40 per month at the big gyms, you risk losing at least $100 if you are unhappy with the services and of course if you don't go with a long term package the more expensive the membership becomes. Sounds like a lock in contract if you ask me. Bottom line, if you can find a local Crossfit gym, go for it. Just make sure it isn't CFSC. read more

I have been going to CFSC since March 2013 and loving every minute of it. Background: I was a volleyball player all throughout high school and played intramurals in college. I had been to a few chain gyms but was not seeing the results I wanted and was never motivated to go. I had heard about CrossFit through a friend and decided to check it out. I googled a few CrossFit gyms in my area and sent a few emails out about wanting to come in and check out the gym. The first response I got was from Miles at CFSC. He was welcoming and encouraged me to come in for a tour and free trial. So I got up the courage and went in. From the start, Miles was friendly and very knowledgeable about CrossFit. He took me on a tour of the gym and explained how you start with the two week beginners course and then you can join the group WODs. Knowing there was a beginners course where they taught you correct form was a relief, because I honestly thought you just had to learn as you go. After a few days of thinking, I signed up for the beginners course. For 2 or 3 days, for two weeks, I met Miles and my other beginners "classmate" to learn about CrossFit, form, movements and nutrition. To be transparent, It was the hardest two weeks of my life. Ok that is dramatic and not true, BUT I was so sore I didn't think I was going to make it. However, It was a good sore. I was using muscles I hadn't in years and I knew after that two weeks that CrossFit was what I was looking for. Fast forward two years and some change, and here I am...still loving every minute of it. I can only go 2x week, due to work scheduling, and still feel great, see results and always feel welcomed by everyone. I have watched CFSC evolve and become a really really great gym. Over my two years as a member here they have added weightlifting classes, rowing classes, more equipment, private training sessions, running classes and more! The coaches are really incredible and are always there to help and encourage! I really can't say enough great things about CFSC. Do yourself a favor and check it out! read more

I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary at CFSC. I've never done anything like this before and it was WAY out of my comfort zone. I'm not athletic (or very coordinated); I used to think I was too "girly" to lift weights and always felt intimidated in a gym. Walking on the elliptical in my basement while watching my favorite shows was not doing much so, on a whim, I tried the Intro class and was hooked! I like the combination of strength training and cardio. I like how every day the workout is different and challenging. I like the feedback I receive from the coaches (they know when to push me harder and when to tell me to stop). I like how it's not just about working out, but they incorporate nutrition, and have onsite chiropractic and massage therapists. I like how CFSC sets up fun events like the Chili Cook Off, Field Day and several community service opportunities too. But most of all, I like the people! I have found a whole new set of friends, a new community, a new family! These people encourage me, motivate me and hold me accountable daily. They were very welcoming since Day 1. They make me want to do my best. I still may be the slowest and weakness in my class, but I don't care, because I see how much I've improved in the past 2 years...things I never thought I could accomplish before (a pull up, rope climb and running a whole mile!), now I can. And I see the benefits in my every day life... walking up stairs no longer makes me out of breath. I can go hiking or bend over to pick up a heavy duffle bag without hurting my back, or having my knees ache, or lying on the couch for the next two days because I can't move. I feel stronger and I'm walking taller. I'm not doing CrossFit to become a body builder. I'm doing it so that I can enjoy every day life activities. CFSC has literally changed my life! read more

Best. Gym. Ever. Next to Crossfit North Atlanta, you won't find better facilities or better coaching in Atlanta. The coaches genuinely want you to get better. I have built many new lifelong friendships through people I've met at the gym. Not to mention, Crossfit has gotten me into the best shape of my life! The coaches are always hosting extra workouts after hours or when the gym is closed - they are truly some of the best people. In addition to the every day WOD, South Cobb also offers a Barbell Club & Rowing Club that meet during the week. It's really great to be able to mix up the weekly routine. This is by far the most awesome CrossFit community and facility I have encountered! This is a no-pressure environment where you can come in and work out with awesome people and excellent coaches. The people are friendly and there aren't "clicks" like most CrossFit gyms that I have seen. I have been coming here since August, and absolutely love everything about the place!! Lots of space, lots of activities. They ofer Olympic lifting, weekly rowing clinics and some of the most caring and talented coaches I have met. This gym is like going over to a friends house. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely engaging. There is a real sense of community and no pressure of needing to be some sort of superhero in order to join. The gym meets you where you are and helps you achieve your goals. It is a larger gym. The intro teacher was very nice and helpful. It is $160 a month, which is going rate for most crossfit gyms. They offer the regular WOD classes, an entense rowing class, and a weight lifting class. The people taking the classes were not overly friendly. I only had one person say hi to me. The classes were larger then normal, but they had more instructors on the floor. The instructors were not really participating. Just walking around. When I contacted them via email to set up my two free classes after my intro class no one ever got back to me. I won't be back. read more

I was a member here for three years prior to leaving on Army orders. Miles not only threw me a going away party, he would let me drop in any time I was hope for a day or two. CrossFit South Cobb was such a welcoming community! My husband and I had the opportunity to participate in the "Friday Night Lights" during the Open this year. Miles and Ruby were so wonderful with allowing us to participate and accepting us as part of the community. Excellent coaching, great community, fantastic programming. I have been a member of Crossfit South Cobb for four months. Prior to that I was a member of two other Crossfit gyms and a visitor of several more. Based on my experience, I have found Crossfit South Cobb to be the best. My interest in fitness began in 2011 when I was in my mid-40s, starting with Zumba and somehow leading to Crossfit. Although I've made a ton of progress, I still have a ways to go. This particular gym has the right coaching and programming to help me reach my goals. Even though I'm usually the slowest person in the group, I've always felt supported. The coaches give me excellent feedback to improve my performance, and my fellow members cheer me on and push me when I want to give up. Because there is such a focus on form and performing the moves correctly, I know that when one of the coaches tells me to move up to a heavier weight, I can do so safely. In addition to Crossfit classes, this gym also has a barbell club which focuses on Olympic lifting, rowing classes, a running club, mobility clinics led by a chiropractor and/or Army master fitness trainer, competitive events, charity events and social activities. I have belonged to CFSC for a month now. I can say the instruction is great and motivating. You are not expected or required to show up for workouts. Miles is just as friendly today as the first day I walked in. Chris and Raul are some of the best teachers I have ever met.
