I dropped in at CrossFit Trifecta while visiting family and planned to work out just once or twice, but I've enjoyed it so much that I've continued coming throughout my entire vacation. The coaches do a great job making sure everyone is properly warmed up and truly ready for the workout. They're very knowledgeable, attentive, and provide solid coaching throughout the class. The workouts are challenging but always scalable, which makes them approachable and fun no matter your level. The members are friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe is positive and encouraging. The gym itself is spacious, clean, and well-equipped with plenty of room and equipment to support the classes. I also appreciated the versatile music selection--it keeps the energy up without being overwhelming. Overall, CrossFit Trifecta is a great gym with strong coaching, a welcoming community, and a fun training environment. My CrossFit journey began at Trifecta. This review is written from the perspective of a new CrossFit member attending 4-5 times a week. A few things that stand out. 1 - Fundamentals is fundamental. I had my first few sessions with Coach Matt who is detailed, educational, and encouraging! I left feeling more confident and less concerned about how physically behind I was with my fitness goals. 2 - After having a kid, I needed additional help reactivating some sleepy muscles and did 1:1 training with Delaney who is awesome, great at listening, and adapting your programming towards your goals. 3 - Once starting a membership at the gym, everyone has been great and helpful. Because I am new, the coaches check in and make sure I am aware of what my scaled version of the workout could look like. Beyond the coaches, I noticed others in the class are also constantly teaching. 4 - No one is left behind here. As a newbie to CrossFit, I was worried about feeling lost in the classes and I just noticed that no matter how slow I am... like for real... the entire class cheers you on ensuring that you feel supported through an entire workout through the end. My dad brought me here 6 years ago as a freshman in high school and I've been coming ever since with him (now 20 and a junior in college). Coach Tommy trained my fundamentals and he taught me all the Crossfit moves I needed to know. I love doing a new workout every day with a warmup, strength, hit, and cooldown portion already created. I also enjoy the strength cycles they plan for several weeks, I can focus on a couple of movements and really progress in PRs. The coaches are all welcoming and remember my specific needs in a workout. Although some of the workouts seem intense, they always have modifications that work well for all levels. However, the main reason I've stayed at this gym so long is the community. I've made some lifelong friends and met so many new people. Every class I end up laughing. read more

My husband and I started at CrossFit Trifecta in June 2012, right before our wedding. I'm a 5'1" woman and my husband is a 6'5" guy. I didn't think that we'd ever be able to do the same workouts, but at CrossFit Trifecta they are able to modify any workout to make it so that each person is perfectly challenged for their size and level of fitness. From the very beginning both of us were hooked. We both love the friendly competition blended seamlessly with encouragement and companionship. The people are really what make CrossFit Trifecta invaluable. Recently I invited three friends to join me for a weekend class. They were all very nervous at the beginning as it was each of their first times trying CrossFit. By the time they left, each had a huge smile on their faces and reiterated to me how friendly, helpful, encouraging , and welcoming the other Trifecta members were. My two friends that live in downtown SD are even thinking about driving up every weekend because they can't imagine finding a better group to workout with. Some days are harder than others and there are times when my work keeps me from working out consistently. Yet, I always feel the full support of the other members and the coaches at CrossFit Trifecta. Tommy and Samantha Pease, the owners, have created an amazing community that inspire me daily. I started CrossFit in Oregon around August of 2012. I wish I would've had access to Trifecta back then... This place is incredible. Once I moved to California I tried 3 CrossFit gyms and I didn't stay much beyond a couple of months. I thought for sure I'd be out of "the game". Then I was introduced to Trifecta in December of 2013. I thought why not, I've heard good things. The atmosphere is phenomenal. Tommy & Sam are such hard working, dedicated box owners. And all of the coaches are knowledgeable and supportive. They're constantly coming up with new and fun ways to warm up and keep up the energy through out the entire class. There is never a dull moment at Trifecta! And let's be honest, who doesn't love to warm up by pretending ab mats are pizzas and you have to run around trying to knock them off other peoples hands? (I believe it was a 5 burpee penalty for every time yours was knocked off). The professional know-how is also important of course, and ALL of these coaches put their money where there mouth is! I mean, c'mon, our head coach and owner is Tommy "The Local Legend" Pease! #gamesbound2015 Anyway, they're all hard working smart as hell coaches and know exactly what CrossFit, Olympic Lifting and the overall community is all about!!! I remember the first time I came to Seb's weightlifting class. It was casual at first. Just for the convenience of it being at noon. But then I hit a 40 lb PR on my clean and jerk. That was it. I was hooked. I hated snatches but I was determined to grin and bear it if only so I could improve my C&J even more. Pretty soon I'm competing in local meets and bonding with my teammates. I felt like I was really part of something awesome. After a year and some injuries to my wrist I decide to try my hand at powerlifting. I'd always loved the dead lift and the weightlifting got my squats way up. After a few weeks my wrist pain was gone and I had fallen in love all over again with the barbell. Yet again Trifecta barbell had my back and supported me, even though I was taking a new path. Throughout My last 3 years at Trifecta one thing has remained consistent. The coaching and support of Tommy Pease and his amazing team. you won't find many people on this planet as patient and adaptable as him. I have been here for about a month now and am I glad I came across Crossfit Trifecta. I was very curious about crossfit for some time and after being in the gym solo for the last few years I realized I needed a push, something more to get me to the next level. I'm not gonna lie I was in the gym doing weights and all but never really dedicated time to cardio as I should. Since I have been here I get my butt kicked every work out and I love that! Coming here I've already learned so much, from new lifts, conditioning, and even nutrition. I think it's easier to come to a place like this where your just not staring or having people stare at you through a mirror and actually interact with everyone. Not only do we interact with one another, we encourage, motivate, and push each other to get through these work outs and boy do we need it! Everyone here is awesome, from the top down.
