Great brewery & burgers down the street from Trifecta

CrossFit Trifecta is a great gym with a wonderful community and absolutely amazing coaching! I've been doing CrossFit for 9+ years, have been a full time member at five affiliates and have dropped in at CrossFit gyms around the world - the coaching and programming at Trifecta is the best hands down. If you're looking for a welcoming fitness community that will get you stronger safely, come check out Trifecta!

My dad brought me here 6 years ago as a freshman in high school and I've been coming ever since with him (now 20 and a junior in college). Coach Tommy trained my fundamentals and he taught me all the Crossfit moves I needed to know. I love doing a new workout every day with a warmup, strength, hit, and cooldown portion already created. I also enjoy the strength cycles they plan for several weeks, I can focus on a couple of movements and really progress in PRs. The coaches are all welcoming and remember my specific needs in a workout. Although some of the workouts seem intense, they always have modifications that work well for all levels. However, the main reason I've stayed at this gym so long is the community. I've made some lifelong friends and met so many new people. Every class I end up laughing.

My husband and I started at CrossFit Trifecta in June 2012, right before our wedding. I'm a 5'1" woman and my husband is a 6'5" guy. I didn't think that we'd ever be able to do the same workouts, but at CrossFit Trifecta they are able to modify any workout to make it so that each person is perfectly challenged for their size and level of fitness. From the very beginning both of us were hooked. We both love the friendly competition blended seamlessly with encouragement and companionship. The people are really what make CrossFit Trifecta invaluable. Recently I invited three friends to join me for a weekend class. They were all very nervous at the beginning as it was each of their first times trying CrossFit. By the time they left, each had a huge smile on their faces and reiterated to me how friendly, helpful, encouraging , and welcoming the other Trifecta members were. My two friends that live in downtown SD are even thinking about driving up every weekend because they can't imagine finding a better group to workout with. Some days are harder than others and there are times when my work keeps me from working out consistently. Yet, I always feel the full support of the other members and the coaches at CrossFit Trifecta. Tommy and Samantha Pease, the owners, have created an amazing community that inspire me daily. I highly recommend CrossFit Trifecta to anyone that is looking for a way to take your fitness to the next level. The coaches at Trifecta know how to work with everyone, from the reforming couch-potatoes to the super athletes. They can work with you to achieve your goals, while welcoming you in like family. Incredible group of people that support and encourage you to your next level of fitness

I started CrossFit in Oregon around August of 2012. I wish I would've had access to Trifecta back then... This place is incredible. Once I moved to California I tried 3 CrossFit gyms and I didn't stay much beyond a couple of months. I thought for sure I'd be out of "the game". Then I was introduced to Trifecta in December of 2013. I thought why not, I've heard good things. The atmosphere is phenomenal. Tommy & Sam are such hard working, dedicated box owners. And all of the coaches are knowledgeable and supportive. They're constantly coming up with new and fun ways to warm up and keep up the energy through out the entire class. There is never a dull moment at Trifecta! And let's be honest, who doesn't love to warm up by pretending ab mats are pizzas and you have to run around trying to knock them off other peoples hands? (I believe it was a 5 burpee penalty for every time yours was knocked off). The professional know-how is also important of course, and ALL of these coaches put their money where there mouth is! I mean, c'mon, our head coach and owner is Tommy "The Local Legend" Pease! #gamesbound2015 Anyway, they're all hard working smart as hell coaches and know exactly what CrossFit, Olympic Lifting and the overall community is all about!!! That's just a small tiny itty bitty snippet of why Trifecta and everyone there is awesome. The community is incredible... I've NEVER seen anything like it! I made friends immediately. I felt SO welcomed and supported! I made incredible personal gains that throughout my CrossFit journey I wasn't able to make for one reason or another. (within 2 months of starting at Trifecta I got my first pull up. There have been MANY more since). Gains like that... and friendships I can't even begin to describe. Did I mention the price? It's insanely affordable.... Especially for SoCal. If you're anywhere near Trifecta, and you're looking to switch it up... have a good time... meet and hang out with good people... get sweaty... gain muscle... and not have to worry if your coaches have your best interest at heart... please come check them out. You won't regret it and you won't want to leave!!!

One evening when I went to pick up my 2-year-old daughter, I saw a male employee walking out of the daycare area. He was not carrying custodial equipment or anything identifying him as maintenance staff, which immediately concerned me because when I originally signed up, I specifically asked whether anyone besides the childcare workers entered the daycare area and was told no. When I walked in, one of the daycare workers looked visibly startled, and when I asked where my daughter was, she initially believed my daughter was cornered behind large play equipment with an older boy significantly bigger and older than her. Thankfully, my daughter was actually under the front desk near the computer/wiring area, which raised a completely separate safety concern. This situation alone made me uncomfortable with the level of supervision happening in the childcare room. There are often only two workers present with multiple children of very different ages, and the environment can feel chaotic and understaffed. After this experience, my daughter became extremely distressed whenever I mentioned going to the gym. She went from adjusting normally to refusing to enter and having major tantrums before we even left the house. As a mother, that change was alarming to me. I later called management to express my concerns and was told the male employee was "most likely custodial," but again, he was not visibly performing custodial work when I saw him leaving the daycare area. I also had issues with misinformation regarding my membership. I was specifically told during signup that I would have access to multiple locations, including Oceanside. I successfully used the Oceanside location once, but later was told my membership was restricted and then was immediately pitched an upgraded membership during a promotion. That experience felt misleading and frustrating. At the end of the day, this is a very low-cost gym membership, and the childcare reflects that reality. Parents should simply understand what they are signing up for and have realistic expectations regarding supervision and staffing levels. Personally, after my experience, I would not recommend this childcare setup for very young children who cannot fully communicate or advocate for themselves yet.

This one is by far the best. It's well maintained and VERY clean; both out on the floor and in the locker room. The other members are well educated, friendly, and courteous when lifting weights/doing cardio's. Rarely do you hear grunts, groans and dropping weights. The front counter staff are friendly; both coming and going. The trainers are professional and know what they're doing. I like this facility. The inflated price seems to create extremely entitled, mostly older gym-goers, that hoard 4-5 sets of freeweights at a time, and then hold loud 45-minute work calls while monopolizing a cable tower and glaring at anyone who comes close. If you want your routine to take 2 hours to do half as much actual lifting, spend 20 minutes trying to park, and still cost literally 10x as other gyms, then go for it. And hey, at least the locker rooms are clean. Just never try to cancel. They will call, text, email, and otherwise harass you to re-join every 2-3 months for the rest of your life. And no, they do not listen to requests to stop.
