Seating is mostly first-come, first-served since they don't take reservations, so expect a bit of a wait during peak times. There is indoor and outdoor seating options and good amount of street parking. Portions are huge and have plenty of vegetarian options, which is always a win. We ended up getting Huevos Rancheros and Tofu Scramble (highly recommend adding veggies and cheese because it's literally just tofu scrambled). Wow, used to love this place but I probably won't be back. We were told to wait because they were understaffed. I counted 6 employees on and to be honest they weren't working very hard. The servers we were ignoring the few tables they had and as someone who works in food service and managers a restaurant, I would be having a meeting with this entire staff about their total lack of customer service. Either the manager needs to learn how to manage or they need an entirely new staff. We walked out. And the last two times I was here the service was slipping. Actually the last 3 times, I almost forgot about the time my wife ordered her meal, they brought out the wrong food and then proceeded to almost argue with her that she ordered it wrong. Yes yes yes ! The place is sooo good. I absolutely love the fact that they gave banana bread as a little something extra! Stopped at Crossroads Cafe before hiking in Joshua Tree. Place is a cozy little desert breakfast spot and had nice western decor. It had a very relaxing vibe to it. I came here for a heartier breakfast option and knew it was held in pretty high regard not just on Yelp. Even on a weekday it was pretty busy and got seated at a little two seater on the side. I was pretty hungry so I went for something big. I figured the breakfast burrito seemed like it was large and with a side of beans. I got a a Diet Pepsi as well. So, it was busy but it seemed to clear up and I thought it took pretty long for the food to arrive. I had about 2 refills of my soda while I waited, probably would have been more but being around the corner from the register seemed to be black hole. My food arrived and I was expecting a massive burrito but it was about the size of a microwave burrito. I ended up eating all of fit but still felt a bit unsatisfied. This place has a pretty long wait time but it worked out because I was able to check out some of the shops in the area and the farmers market while we waited. We were told our wait would be about 45 mins and we came back to find that we still had to wait longer. The hostest was pretty rude about it as well but I will chalk that up to how busy it was but you'd think they'd be used to large crowds on holiday weekends during the summer. Long wait times are the theme for breakfast spots in this area. The food here was really good. I was more tolerant of the wait because I actually enjoyed my French toast. I still probably wouldnt wait that long again for food but it was good and once you're seated the servers become pretty friendly. Super friendly service and they help each other out with drink orders. We got the corned beef hash with homemade cornbread and a Thai-dye salad with lightly seared ahi. Great food, the front-end service lacks. You're barely greeted upon entering and (they are super busy) have to wait to be told that they'll find you a table. The girl at the counter who was also serving intermittently was more interested in talking to a couple lingering after paying that to take out payment to move the line along of 6 people after us. HOWEVER- the first night we visited here, the waitress behind the bar was very nice and super accommodating to our food allergies and even had tuna tacos that they don't serve anymore, special made for me. Ok so me and my girlfriend were on a retreat in Joshua Tree and woke up the next day to go to a sound bath at the Integratron *highly recommend* We stumbled upon this cafe via yelp and thanks to the reviews and photos they were all so right! This food is to die for. I got a lovely corn beef hash with eggs and toast and my friend got some fries. We ordered some coffee and the staff was really quick with service! The energy in the location was incredible, it was nice and light hearted in there and we just had a wonderful breakfast. Man you're in for a treat if you decide to grab some brunch at Crossroads Cafe. Hands down my absolute favorite restaurant out in Joshua Tree. I want to drive down from Los Angeles over to Crossroads Café in two hour traffic just to have their food again. Loved their chicken and cilantro soup. AMAZING brings back some sweet childhood memories. I'm pretty sure there's a Hispanic chef in the back cooking up some authentic soup recipes. Boy was I impressed. Crossroads Cafe sure knows how to make a good mimosa. I enjoyed one one too many mimosas during our brunch visit. The Cactus Flower deserves 5/5 stars and the price point for the drink is spot on ($6.50). Ample amount of parking in the back of the establishment and we even came across a farmers market half a block away. Do expect a 20-30 minute visit but definitely COME HERE TO EAT! read more

This place was a cozy surprise. The wait was really long in a Saturday morning but that was expected since it was a thanksgiving weekend. We waited almost an hour before being seated. Once we did get seated, the food came in really fast, which we really appreciated. We tried a bunch of different coffees and all of them were really strong. For the food, we ordered the tofu scramble, the vegetarian quesadilla, hot as hell tacos and the breakfast burrito. The food was soooooo good. The quesadilla was our absolute favorite, followed closely by the beans. The portion sizes are huge. This place doesn't do to go orders. I have been here twice for breakfast. The first time it was great! That was two years ago. So we decided to go back with my family and I am proud to report that they are consistent. You do want to consider that there is going to most likely be a wait. We knew this going in. But this was a Saturday and there was a farmers market going on in the shopping center directly next to the restaurant. So that was a nice way to spend the time. The food was awesome. Their sourdough toast was so good and so was their sourdough French toast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (unfortunately I don't remember the name from their menu) and I asked if there were any vegan options that I could try in the sandwich. I am not vegan but I do like to have vegan food if possible. What a better place to do that than in Joshua Tree. I was recommended the Seitan and I'm glad I was. It was delicious. We stopped in for lunch while in JT. We had heard good things and decided to check it out. I'd say we were underwhelmed. There was a few people waiting ahead of us, we thought this was a good sign, but it really ended up showing us a lot of disorganized operational practices. As an example they have their dirty dishes drop bin right where people are waiting, so much in the way that people were asked to move almost every time a server tried using the bin. The high chairs were also there and not wiped Down between uses and pretty full of leftovers, we wiped the one we used first as it still had some toast and jam (I think) from the last little one it supported. Our server was lovely, she was kind and had great suggestions. She also brough us waters right off the Hop which I appreciated- including one with a lid for our baby girl (under 1). My partner ordered the heaven burger and said it was pretty tasty. The fries were home cut and nice and crispy. I ordered the Ruben and on suggestion the spinach salad. My sandwich was good, but as you can see from the photo, the bread was over done. The salad was good but flooded with dressing. We overall enjoyed our meal but it felt a bit like we were inconveniencing most of the staff, maybe it was just a busy day (Thursday in March). I will say I think we picked the wrong meal as the breakfasts I saw coming out looked so good. It had potatoes stuffing which was very unique. We also ordered Lattes along with our food option and they were decent, nothing crazy! Since it was going to be a long day, we decided to also place some to-go orders for lunch. The server mentioned that they don't typically do to-go orders but we could just order the dishes and then later pack them (weird, I know, but it is what it is!) Irrespective, our server was very sweet in taking our orders and being accommodating with the requested changes.
