Mom had recently had a stroke and was…read moregoing through a really rough time and the staff there was beyond wonderful and welcoming during this transition. I could fill 1000 pages with specific praise for this place but let me just cover the best of the best. I will start with "Management"... I will start with the top: The Executive Director, Karen Enciso has that rare blend of business savvy, compassion and emotional intelligence. She runs a very tight ship but does so with grace and poise and it's apparent she cares for all of her residents, families, and staff. Karen is always available and responsive when needed. My mother thinks the world of her and for good reason. The nursing management and staff are kind and competent and always ready to help. These professionals have saved my mother's life on several occasions and I am humbled by how hard they work to keep their elderly residents feeling safe and cared for. The great part about this place is that they also offer a great Memory Care Program. If my mother ever needs that specific service, I am confident that she will be well taken care of. The community is always clean and fresh when I visit my mother and we just enjoy those fresh cookies the receptionist bakes daily. I shopped around and Emeritus at Oceanside offers the best bang for our buck. You can find slightly less expensive places but they are not up to standard in my opinion. You can pay much more and not do any better. I thank God for guiding me to this place, I can now sleep better knowing that my mother is in good hands. I give this place all the stars in the sky. Alot of love and respect, A Satisfied Daughter

The activities director truly cares that the residents are treated with dignity and are enjoying themselves. The director is constantly making improvements, taking the suggestions of families and residents to heart. They have actually gotten to know her personally and I feel confident that they want the best for her. I have worked in Alzheimer's facilities and know the difference between a mediocre facility and a good one... This is honestly the best, most caring one I've been in.

We can't say enough about the Home Instead Team! My Mother-in-law lives in Vista and is in hospice…read morecare. At 95 she lives alone. Her wish is to stay in her house for as long as she can. With the help of wonderful care-givers provided by Home Instead she's able to accomplish that. My husband and I live in LA and have leaned on management and staff for help with changes in scheduling and other questions and concerns. They've been a calming presence and we're grateful that they're on deck during this difficult time.

I have never written a bad review before, but I have had such a poor experience with this company…read morethat I felt the need to share. Since my dad has dementia, we asked for a caretaker that is experienced in dementia-specific care. During the intake, I told the team that experience should be the top priority over anything. Instead, we had a "kind-of" experienced person come to train somebody who literally had their first day in the industry in our home. This guy didn't even know how to help my dad change his pull-ups when he was still mobile. Very simple stuff that frankly I've never been trained on myself, and have no business training him on. This theme continued throughout the time we were with them, and it ultimately became more work to have their caretakers in the home. We also paid a premium for dementia-care, but obviously the person who is brand new is not providing that value. We stayed with them until my dad was hospitalized. We need 30+ hours per week of care since then, and we actively avoided bringing them back because they were no help. They are also extremely disorganized as an organization. The care is the main reason we stopped working with them, and the admin & accounting teams have made sure we don't even explore other caretakers with them. Working with this company has been a headache, and I would suggest looking at other agencies for a significantly better experience.
