    Let it be (nonalcoholic)
    Israel M.

I've been wanting to try Crossroads Kitchen for a long time, and I'm so glad I finally made it. While the ambiance and décor evoke the warmth of an old-school steakhouse or classic Italian restaurant, the food is anything but traditional. It offers a fresh, modern take on vegan Italian cuisine. Drinks & Appetizers We started with two cocktails: the Strawberry Girl (alcoholic) and the Let It Be (non-alcoholic). Both were excellent. For appetizers, we ordered the Moroccan Cigars, served with a light, tangy yogurt-style dipping sauce with just the right amount of heat. The cigars themselves were delicate, filled with plant-based meat, and lightly fried. Think of an elevated, artisanal taquito. A perfect lead-in to the main course. Entrées We ordered two dishes: the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka with the chicken Parmesan add-on, and the Spicy Meatball Pizza. Pro tip: absolutely add the chicken Parmesan to the rigatoni. The vodka sauce was bold and spicy without overpowering the dish, and the chicken Parm was beautifully cooked with excellent texture, a natural and well-balanced pairing. The pizza was exceptional. True to its name, there was a meatball in nearly every bite. It's topped with ricotta and dusted with parmesan, and we added red chili flakes for an extra kick. The crust is very thin and artisanal, and every component, the marinara, meatballs, sausage, ricotta, and parmesan, worked in perfect harmony. The dough alone is worth finishing every last piece. Dessert We ended with the Brownie Sundae, which was the one minor letdown of the evening. The ice cream appeared to have been pre-scooped, as it was quite firm with visible ice crystals, not ideal. The brownie itself, however, was absolutely delicious, though the portion felt a bit small relative to the dish as a whole. Overall, the sundae was just okay. I'd likely skip it next time and explore other dessert options. Service & Atmosphere The service was fantastic, and the overall ambiance was warm and inviting. The pacing of the meal was particularly impressive. Drinks, appetizers, entrées, and dessert all arrived at just the right tempo. Nothing felt rushed, and nothing lingered too long. Parking There is no dedicated parking for the restaurant. Crossroads is located on Melrose Avenue, a busy shopping district with heavy foot traffic and limited street parking. That said, we visited on a Sunday afternoon and found street parking without much trouble. If spots near the restaurant are taken, driving a few blocks into the surrounding neighborhood usually turns up more options, just be prepared for a short walk. Plan your arrival time accordingly to avoid any parking stress. Overall, Crossroads Kitchen delivered on every front. Creative food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend, with the rigatoni and pizza as must-orders.

Came to enjoy a Mother's Day dinner after seeing a show at Pantages. My husband and I were both thrilled with the warm cozy feel of the restaurant. Staff were so friendly and kind. And the food was delicious!! Shared the zucchini blossoms and they were delicious. My husband enjoyed the piccata and we shared the yummy truffle potatoes. I've been wanting to try vegan scallops made with trumpet mushrooms and these did not let me down - the linguine and scallops were amazingly delicious - would definitely have again! The strawberry cheesecake was a great way to finish the meal - banana pudding was ok. Overall, would highly recommend and hope to return for more!

First time at this eatery. Crossroads Kitchen is a popular, upscale vegan restaurant in Los Angeles known for its plant-based Italian-American cuisine, offering dishes like pasta, pizza, and "chicken" and waffles that appeal to both vegans and non-vegans. It features a full bar, patio dining, and is praised for its creative, flavorful food, though some reviews mention inconsistent We were seated at a long table since there were so many of us. The staff was very accommodating. First time eating vegan food. Wasn't quite for me, but it was a wonderful dinning experience.

I'd heard about this spot for years and was excited to finally check it out last night. Overall I really enjoyed my food -- the eggplant short rib was a definite standout that was super unique and flavorful. I also really liked the cauliflower torte and the apple martini. The pasta was tasty, a bit too spicy for both my friend and me. My least favorite part of the meal was the dessert -- we got the chocolate cake, which was sadly a bit on the drier side (though we did appreciate the birthday candles since we were both celebrating our birthdays!). Service was a bit hit or miss. My friend asked for lemon for her water, which was brought promptly. 5 minutes later, the busboy came back to tell us that would be a $2 charge, after it was already in my friend's water glass. I have never heard of a restaurant charging for lemon slices in your water and we were pretty taken aback by that to be honest. The waitress said she'd remove that charge from the bill since we weren't told about it upfront, but really? That shouldn't be a charge at all. Our waitress was very nice, but fairly absent after we received our dishes. She never came to check on us, refill water, see if we needed more drinks, etc. We actually had to flag another waitress down to find ours when it was time for us to get the check (after sitting with cleaned off plates on the table for at least 25 minutes). The space is pretty from what I could tell. We were seated in a side section that the hostess said is usually not open, so it did feel like a bit of an afterthought. But I could tell that the main space is nice. If I could give 2.5 stars, I would -- but that's not an option, so it's a 2 for me. I'm glad I finally came here, but don't think I would need to return.

Elevated fine-dining with an all-vegan menu. Great place for a date or special occasion. If you've been to Pura Vita, you can expect a similar experience. CALAMARI FRITTI - As someone who typically enjoys deep-fried, battered food, the fried calamari wasn't very impressive. It was oily and borderline soggy. It wasn't bad by any means, but it just didn't embody the long-standing reputation of quality food that Crossroads has always carried in the LA vegan circle. TRUFFLE MUSHROOM BIANCA - Again, it just didn't have the wow factor. It was decent, but just not great. In summary, fine-dining ambiance and spectacular service accompanied by mediocre food.

Yum! Had the moroccan cigars, cacio e pepe, and the lasagna. They were all wonderful but the lasagna was definitely the best and most flavorful.

Lovely ambiance! Warm, dark interior for dinner with soft banquettes. We had the Chick'n Pizza, Tempeh Piccata, and Italian sausage. We were all happy with our choices. The Italian sausage was pretty hot so I ordered the bread service with it. I was pleasantly surprised by the sourdough bread which had been grilled - very good. We also split the Kale Caesar. Our server was attentive and professional.

Spicy Rigatoni Vodka with Chicken Milanese

This is really a top notch vegan spot! They know how to make amazing food, get it out to the customer fast and have great service. The price tag is a bit on the pricey side but feels worth it! The rigatoni was a standout for the evening! It was perfectly seasoned and spicy with the chicken still having that deliciously addictive crunch. The mushroom arancini were also delicious! Our waitress was very nice and brought out everything super fast. The restaurant is really beautiful with a great bar and nice lighting. The tortellini was probable my least favorite of the night as it was a Bit too Al dente and the broth was not very warm. It did come out with some flare as they light the rosemary on fire before pouring the soup over the pasta. The banana pudding was ok, however I think they could spruce up their dessert menu as I don't think I've ever had one that was to die for.

    Calamari
    Holly S.

Was excited to try the LA location, but service greatly reduced my rating. Food was average, and lacked impressiveness. Celery root tartare semi bland. No apple or dill flavor. Chips were fresh and okay. Calamari was thick cut. Hearty breading. But a great plant based alt to calamari. Do give it a try! Beet salad was my favorite. Very small. No blue cheese appeared in this dish. The golden beets with the sweet pears were yummy. Overall, nice mix of flavors and textures, would have been better with the blue cheese tho. Balsamic pearls are a fun spin. CELERY ROOT & CHESTNUT TORTELLINI has a delectable table-side flamed rosemary in the spout of a kettle before the vegetable broth was poured over the tortellini. Tbh, there was no flavor in the pasta itself. This dish is more like a soup. It's just the flavorless pasta in a small amount of veggie broth. Grilled lions mane steak was a good "heavier" entree. I opted for the sauce on the side and glad I did... was more of a broth style sauce which I would not have liked. The truffle potato has good presentation, but lacked much, if any, truffle flavor. Courses were not timed. Table was loaded with dishes and to make it worse, after dinner, and for a minimum of one hour, none of the dishes were cleared from the table and no server checked in. Inside is elegantly appointed. Noise level is loud.

This has been a go-to special occasion for years and it never, ever disappoints! Highlights: Calamari is to die for. Infinitely better than the original. Eggplant short rib has a beautiful 'meaty' texture and hearty flavor that's perfect for a winter menu. Their martinis! Always made perfectly to specifications. Ambience is nice enough that I don't feel out of place being dressy for special occasions, but it's never stuffy. Service is always prompt and friendly.

*** Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants (2024): #98 *** Visited Crossroads Kitchen for the first time on a Friday night around 6:45pm without reservations. Although all the tables were taken, we were able to grab seats at the bar. Service was attentive and friendly. To eat, we ordered the Bolognese ($24) and the Pepperoni Pizza ($22). To drink, a Sierra Nevada Hazy ($7). The food was good, and the ambiance was even better. While I'm not in a rush to come back, we enjoyed our experience here. If you're in the area, I'd say this place is worth checking out.

Do they have Sunday brunch like their Las Vegas location?

They have a Sunday brunch but it's not buffet style as it is in Las Vegas.

Where is the closest parking structure?

You don't need to be dressy. I've been in athleisure plenty of times. People dress in what's comfortable for them.

    Are there any allium-free options?

Are all of the "cheeses" and dairy options here made from nuts?

Yes! All their cheeses are non-dairy and delish!!!! I highly recommend their zucchini blossoms but their Charcuterie appetizer with cheese is also delicious.

Does anyone know whose chicken they use for the chicken and waffles? My daughter loves it.

    It's house made

How do I know what's vegan?

The whole restaurant menu is vegan.

Do they have a Happy Hour? In the past, reviewers mention HH and a late night HH.

no happy hour as far as i know

Do they still have valet parking? Am trying to determine how much time I should allow for parking.

    Yes

    Are dogs allowed?

I just called and they are allowed only for outdoor seating :)

How is the outdoor seating? Is it in the parking lot or how is it set up? Is there inside seating?

The outdoor seating is set up on the side walk. One thing I raved about the crossroads is their romantic ambience so you are definitely NOT getting that anymore. But the food is still just as great :)

Are there heaters for outdoor dining?

    Yes

Is it all vegan or is the fried chicken and meatballs real meat?

The entire restaurant is Vegan. I have taken meat eaters There and they say the chicken and waffles are the best they have had 🙏🏽 the meatballs are vegan and tasty also.

What is the base of their Alfredo sauce? (Nut purée/milk?)

    Almond cream

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

They do have mimosas however, they are not bottomless.

Do they have happy hour on weekends too at night?

I don't think they have happy hour. I could be wrong though. The late night bar menu is every night starting at 10pm.

I see the attire is "dressy," and I saw one review that says to dress up if you're going in the evening. I'm looking to go to a brunch on Sunday, what would be the dress "code" or suggestion? Thanks.

No, casual is fine. But TBH, their brunch is not the best in my opinion. The portions are tiny and we left still feeling hungry.

Do you have gluten free options?

    Yes they do!

It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

I think there's only 4 or 5 dedicated parking spots available out front so you'll likely have to street park unless you get lucky. It can be difficult to find as the entrance is more on Santa Fe than it is on Mateo. I ordered an iced chai latte and my date ordered a pour over. I think he was pretty satisfied with his drink but my drink was mediocre. Chai lattes are my go-to so it's easy for me to compare and the drink here just doesn't have as much flavor as I expected and tasted watery. Not itching to return but if I did, I'd order an açaí bowl or a pastry as those seem pretty good.

I had many questions, and both he and his team addressed every single one with patience, care, and attention to detail. It's clear that Dave was born to host events! That level of guidance makes all the difference when you're nervours... that patience and guidance it's exactly what you want in a venue partner. Prank was an excellent choice for our event. The location is fantastic, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the drinks and food were outstanding. Thank you so much. We will absolutely recommend Prank and keep it on our radar for future events in LA.

The open patio, the bar area and how it wraps around the corner where there is a smaller intimate section. The music was awesome, the bartender has a great pour and the people seemed to be really having a great time. As I look around I see there is an open upstairs area that looks down onto the first level. So cool right? I had a conversation with two regulars and they swear by the menu. Plans are made to come back and I must try the food when I do. Cheers!!

Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients that stood out from the first bite to the last. The ambiance was welcoming and the art was tasteful. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the meal. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured everything was perfect without being intrusive. We ordered the tostaditas de atún agua chile negro, beet salad, carne asada taco and Al pastor taco and watched the World Cup game. Distrito Catorce combines exceptional food, a great atmosphere, and top-notch service. It's the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. Definitely plan on coming back to watch more World Cup games.

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

My friend just flew in for a day because his relative had forgot her passport and needed to travel to Korea, so we stopped here. He missed a few meetings, a vet appointment and other things, but also saved the day, otherwise his relative wouldn't have been able to make it to Korea. While here, they ordered a salad with cherries and pecans that was pretty amazing. I think that may have been one of the better salads I've eaten. In addition to that, a cucumber burrata salad was ordered, and that was made well too. When my venison burger arrived, I took a few bites and it had the exact flavor I was hoping for and I thought the burger was done extremely well. My friend also ordered a pork chop, and it was an amazing cut, cooked perfectly, tender, juicy and everything you could ever want in a bone in pork chop. They also cut the entire piece for you and scraped every last bit off of the bone too. The service is really attentive. They come by your table a lot to ensure you have everything you need. The ambiance is a bit dim in lighting which sets a nice mood. And the place just happens to be dog friendly too. Sorry for the lack of photos, but I didn't wanna intrude on everyone else's meals. However, if you come here, definitely try the salad with cherries and the venison burger or the pork chop!
