The service is also great, the waiter also came to check on us and made sure we had what we needed. The restaurant itself is pretty small but clean and inside a small shopping center. Just left about 20-30 mins. I've passed by this spot so many times and said one day I'm a go lol. Today was that day. I stopped by today for lunch. It was busy but not overwhelming. Everyone was already seated and eating when I walked in and sat down. It was a real chill vibe. Sports game was on. It was some quiet. It's a nice space for a cafe. They have two dining sections as well as a patio section out front. Prices were reasonable. I had an espresso martini for the first time and it was amazing. Both Natalie and Jazmin are some amazing waitresses/bartenders. The food was good. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Being that it was Cajun style I was expecting more of a Cajun seasoning but the chicken was still good. It was a decent amount of chicken pieces. $9 for the express martini was not bad at all. $19 for the chicken and waffles was about average compared to other spots in the area or nearby. After driving by Jinky's countless times I finally had the urge to pop in and give it a try! A solid greasy spoon option in the Beverly Grove area. They are nestled between Tacos 1986 and the New Beverly Theater. It's easy to drive by and miss them. I ordered my usual go to diner order, Steak & Eggs + Crispy Hashbrowns. Since the ribeye steak was thin it arrived on the well done side, not the end of the world. Still enough fat content in the ribeye that the steak wasn't completely dry. My server was nice and attentive. My favorite part was that the coffee was served in a 2 cup small thermos like the kind at iHOP back in the day. Food was alright not the most flavorful in my opinion. Got a breakfast burrito not the best, and the French toast was pretty good. My friend got the spicy chilaquiles with steak that those were good. The drinks however, if you're going for cute cocktails drinks this is not the place. If you loved Chili My Soul as much as I did, then you are aware that Jinky's carried on Randy Hoffman's recipes in its restaurants (some of them at least). God, I miss Chili My Soul! Many years later and I finally gave Jinky's a try to relive those damn great chili memories. I ordered a quart of chili because I may as well get as much of a dose as possible and had it delivered through DoorDash. Everything arrived intact, no spills. I'll sum it up...was it as great as CMS? I'd have to say no, but it did the job of a comforting bowl of chili. Half the fun of CMS was getting split bowls and Jinky's doesn't offer a great variety of chili options. Also, I don't recall Randy's chili being very oily and as you can see, this chili was very oily. I solved the oil problem once the chili cooled and oil congealed - it was very easy to spoon out. Another disappointment was that CMS used to come with a side of veggies and this secret pink sauce (I believe I was told it was Thousand Island sauce with Tabasco). That shiet was delish af! Jinky's provides you with garlic bread as a side. Eh, I don't know how I feel about garlic bread being paired with chili - cornbread may have been a better option. . The veggies and sauce would have been ideal. All in all, while the chili was decent, it did not serve as a substitute for CMS and the lack of choice in flavors was disappointing. The whole experience just wasn't there for me. I have to accept CMS is history and savor the memories of some of then best chili I have ever had. If you are a CMS fan though, I invite you to experience this for yourself and chime in as to how you feel Jinky's compares to the OG version. read more

Great little place to eat. They have a small patio in the front, dog friendly. Our waitress was great and attentive. I did only see 2 waitresses and another young lady helping out with refills. Front parking was meter only, but luckily, I found street self parking around the corner. The business is the second location from the corner, on the main street. It was a pleasant visit. I've now been back about eight times and not once been disappointed. Each time I bring a different friend and they've all loved it. I love French toast and they have a list of ways to get it. SO, so happy that a GOOD diner has come back to our hood - welcome!! I post this after about 4 visits so far and am extremely happy with the food choices and the friendly service. Talking of which, Jasmine, the manager is a gem! I was totally surprised to see an Indian dish on the menu and when inquiring HOW/WHY, I learnt that the owner was Indian... Being an Ex-Pat Brit I know a thing or three about said food, so I vowed to try on one occasion. That occasion came last week with friends. WOW!! I know the previous restaurant at this address was Indian and I had eaten there, my verdict, the Jinky's curry dish might have kept the old restaurant in business!!! EXCELLENT and well done. Every dish I have had was very good, I am slowly going through the menu. Couple of things - I would like the Huevos Rancheros better as an open dish rather than covered and coffee could be better - great suggestions are Peets Major Dickason's Dark Roast and believe it or not, Starbucks Caffe Verona - both available as pods. Jinkys Cafe is very close to my house so I can walk over for breakfast or lunch. I have eaten there several times and have recommended it to my neighbors on Next Door. The service is great, the choice of entrees is good and all the different things I have ordered have been well prepared and very tasty. The good- customer service and speed of food. The bad- $20 for GF Berry Pancakes, the maple syrup is maple flavored sugar syrup, the coulis is a few dots around the plate, the berries are just a small amount. The pancakes are three medium size. I had to ask about the granola being GF - it is not- that should be noted on the menu, and called out by the server when ordering gf pancakes. Overall not a pancake I would comeback for, and no option of even adding real maple syrup. Ambiance is a no stars. It is clean, and there is attempt at some decor but 2 TVs dominate the space. The floor is the same you would find in a Holiday Inn self serve kitchen area. For a cafe that has a long history in Los Angeles there is not a single piece of decor that even lets you know you are in LA let alone a long time established business, even if this location is new. This area needs a good breakfast spot, but without some improvements to the menu and ambiance I fear this location will be short lived.
