Went in to sell some items. We were told computers were down so we waited outside to be called in which was fine. Once we were called we came in and stood at the counter. Three salesgirls were chatting together completely ignoring us for at least 2 minutes. Doesn't sound like a lot of time but it is when you're just standing there, not being greeted and they're talking about music and who knows what. Never acknowledging us until they were done talking to each other. Very unprofessional. read more

I would agree with posters complaining about the lack of customer service. Most of the associates only interact with you as needed, but I am not expecting Nordy's level service at a resale shop. As long as they are polite and professional, I am good. As far as the complaints about what they buy, their customer base is NOT people who want Chico's or even some GAP. Look around the store and take note of what brands they are selling. I have alot of nice, gently used clothing from some brands that are not trendy anymore, but that's on me! The Karens that come in and get all outraged bc their stuff isn't purchased need to go away. I do agree that some of the prices are too high, but that is just my opinion, and like the saying goes: opinions are like a$$hole$, everybody has one!! I would recommend this place but do your homework so you know what to sell and buy!! read more

I have been a seller, consignor, & buyer at many Crossroads for over 15 years -- starting in WeHo & now in Costa Mesa . I love the staff at the Costa Mesa store and the manager, Melissa, is stellar. I like Taysha & her staff at the Irvine store for the most part but they are not as attentive or friendly as the Costa Mesa team. Going into a dressing room Yesterday I became --literally-- nauseous. these photos tell the story !! As well the ledge along the front window are filthy & have always been And dirt under clothing racks -- hence long clothes are often dirty ( as was the case with 2 items I purchased yesterday. ) This is absolutely disgraceful & unhealthy !!! They had really cute clothes but the prices were 20-40$ for a pair of jeans.. this is supposed to be a trading/thrift store. I didn't come to shop for overpriced clothes.. I get that it's irvine and most of these people have the money to spare for it but I wasn't impressed. The employees weren't super happy to be there either. read more

The store is extremely well organized and maintained by the team. There are always excellent pieces on display walls & in the designer glass case. My daughter is just getting into fashion and we have found the selection to fit her style as well as my own, with a wide range of on-trend offerings. Yes for shopping - cute shirts, pants, sweaters and bags!! Everything is priced well. No for selling - I sold 1 Vans tshirt, 2 pairs of uggs (one boot pair and one tasman pair) and a pair of new balances, all shoes were brand NEW. I got $16. If you're selling, I'd recommend going to Plato's Closet instead. The staff isn't the nicest either. But at least the clothes are cute when you shop :) read more

Great finds at this location. I've also found this location to be the best to sell and trade clothes at. They don't try to low ball you and are always reasonable with their prices. You can find lots of active wear and nice summer dresses here. The staff are always friendly and helpful. read more

What a lovely store. I was just there last week and bought the nicest shirt at a reasonable price. The service was so nice. I had not been in a retail shop in some time. I am high risk for the virus so I stay home most of the time. I went in with a mask, of course, and they even had some there in case someone forgot theirs. Now, that is great customer service. This place is pretty big and has a huge selection of vintage, well-used, clothes for both men and women. I got in easily. The distancing was great and check out a breeze. I will be back. Kinda had higher expectations of this place! I was thinking the selection would be good here since Irvine's demographic (rich people). I saw A LOT of J.Crew, Zara, Free People, Forever 21, Madewell, & Tavik. Don't expect too much luxury here if that's what you're looking for, all of the good stuff is located behind the register so it makes it awkward to shop when you have to ask to see the merchandise & be watched while doing so! No thank you. The store was small & you really gotta dig through the racks. Everything was decently priced, not much was NWT tho. I'll try other locations to see the inventory there. read more

Very niche -definitely for the middle-high end. Nothing beyond XL. I went in with nice clothes for consideration for sale, fortunately had minimal wait, however was told excellent condition however "Chico's" doesn't resell well there. Chico's are not Wal-Mart or Target. Fortunately I had cleaned out my closet and was passing through on my way back from a doctors appointment & had the bag in my car and stopped by on my way to meet some friends. I was willing to stop in and see. I have found that it really depends on what area you're in and who is checking your clothes. read more

I have been a loyal shopper at crossroads throughout all of college! I have visited the Santa Barbara location, Pasadena location, la location and the Huntington Beach location. I arrived at the store about an hour before closing, I was greeted upon walking in with the workers complaining about the customers currently shopping there and apparently my sister and I upon walking in. SO RUDE!!! The brunette girl in the grey sweater with a face mask, was nothing but rude. She talked about how inconvenient it was for her to work, let alone have 5 customers in the store an hour before closing!!! I even left my clothes that I had originally planned on selling in my car, out of consideration for the workers since they would be closing in the next hour. I walked to the fitting room and again the girl was gossiping to her workers about how annoying it is that they can't close now. I have worked over 10 years of customer service in retail and was appalled at her blatant behavior and disrespectful behavior towards other customers in the store. I only tried on four items and put them on the rack after I finished, perfectly hung up only to find no one there to take my number. In all honestly I was disappointed with the service that I received, in all my visits at other locations I have always been treated nicely and received excellent customer service. THESE WORKERS NEED SERIOUS HR TRAINING, IN HOW TO BE A NICE, WELCOMING, EMPLOYEE. Also, I only spent 20 minutes in the store and left well over 30 minutes before closing. read more

Isn't it weird how most of these places (consignment/places to sell your clothing to), have such low ratings from sellers yet high ratings from buyers? I admit, I had been put off by reading endless reviews of selling experiences - other reviewers who claim to bring clothing in with tags attached, pristine clothing from coveted popular brands such as Free People, Anthro and brands you find at Nordy's to athleisure powerhouses alo and lululemon...because those are the exact things that I want to sell! I made my first visit to the Costa Mesa location, and was assigned Bridget as my buyer. I brought in 3 big bags of clothing, full of the above brands. I left with 2 bags of clothing and an extra $103 (or $174 in store credit). Not only did Bridget take her time telling me why she is taking a certain item, she also explained clearly why she was rejecting an item. She showed me the grading chart that buyers were expected to follow. Contrary to belief, Crossroads has processes in place to produce a very consistent way of rating what is acceptable and profitable to buy. Through this experience, I learned exactly what to bring in and what to skip. Fast forward to today, where I visited the Irvine (Westpark) location. I came in with 3 big bags of clothing full of Free People, Aritzia, and some athleisure. I curated my bags with Bridget's advice and also according to their seasonal notecard trends (you can grab a copy in store). Some of my clothing had tags and some did not. I left with 1 bag of clothing and an extra $305 (or $540 in store credit). Joey (my buyer) was also as helpful, knowledgeable and friendly as Bridget and guided me on things that he was rejecting and also on things that he was accepting. He echoed on a lot of things that Bridget said - including rejecting similar items for similar reasons. Not only does this prove that buyers are consistent across locations, but also answers the question that I posed when starting this review - the reason why there are higher ratings from customers who buy clothing versus customers who sell clothing to Crossroads is because of how strict they are in curating the best possible finds for customers to purchase. When you bring in bags of your "amazing clothing" and expect Crossroads to buy most of it, but then they don't? Maybe the reason they don't want your clothing is the exact reason why you are getting rid of it from your closet in the first place. Attacking how the employees dress and assuming they don't know anything about fashion from how they rejected your clothing is both childish and petty. This only reflects on your character when you don't get your way; choosing to blindly rage online via Yelp instead of trying to understand why. If you are a new seller, don't listen to the bad reviews, on your first visit - check in via their app to get on the waitlist and consider sticking around when they sort through your stuff to learn about their processes (don't do a drop off), it might be time consuming (my first Costa Mesa visit took 3.5 hours because they were understaffed and I didn't know to check in via their app ahead of time), but the knowledge from the feedback they give you about your items will help you curate your items to make as much profit as possible in future buys with them! read more

I tried selling a Chloe shirt, and purse. The purse I have documents for that I bought when I went to south coast plaza but the shirt and jacket from Chloe I didn't save my tags. The girl told me they are fake. Why would they be fake ? If you know your designer clothes you would know that they were real and could tell by the fabrics and name tag. Yet my 2,000 purse is real? The service here is horrible! No one looks you in the eye when they are "helping" you,. They act like you are a nuisance to them, but they will talk to their coworkers all happy and cheery. Train your staff better! I work in retail and a smile goes a long way. It's not that difficult. I was there 2 hours today and I didn't get one pleasant experience from any of them. Buyer (Joey)...he was very polite, friendly, and professional. This review is not based on my experience with him :) Okay...once upon a time I shopped here (years ago). It used to appealing...nice displays, beautiful clothing, name brand items... My, how time have changed unfortunately... this place looks like "plato's closet" or even "Keepers" (the goodwill boutique). I went to sell my designer jeans ( Joe's, AG, rag & bone, 7 Jeans, lucky brand, James perse) I had about 20 pair and also my Louis Vuitton sneakers that Ive maybe wore 2x. They wanted to consign the shoes for $300 (original price $1020) And give me $7 for a pair of jeans. Moral of the story...this explains why there fashion sucks now...they are too cheap! I would never sell my $200 jeans for $7 and I would expect anyone else to either. Selling your designer stuff to Crossroads is equivalent to selling your soul to the devil for a bag of hot cheetos. literally the best place ever. i come here multiple times a week after work just because i have never ever had an instance where i don't walk out without something cool in hand. keep in mind it's not your typical dollar item thrift store as prices here do range from $15-$40 from what i have seen but the difference is they hand select premium brands and carry high quality clothing (still significantly marked down from whatever the original item retailed for). ive seen many items here still with tags on at less than 1/4 of the tagged price. can't go wrong with crossroads in irvine! always an amazing selection and the loveliest staff who are always so helpful. happy shopping :) read more

I've shopped at this location for nearly a year and my experiences have typically been great, with good finds and pleasant staff. Recently though it's gone downhill. I'm not sure what happened--change in management, new staff etc., but the quality of service and clothes have gone way down. I saw several items I liked but had to pass on because there were too many stains, pills, missing buttons and/or rips. One dress I would have bought but it had four missing buttons and a big rip down the middle and it wasn't even discounted or marked "as is" either. Do these buyers even check for the quality of clothing before purchasing, or do they just grab up whatever fits the "current trends" for the season?? Very weird experience with staff. Girl with dirty blond hair wearing a black slip dress didn't make eye contact while checking me out, forgot to give me my receipt and immediately turned her back to me to lean on a pile of clothes and resume gossiping with her coworker. As she did, her whole backside hung out of her dress and she basically flashed all the customers at the counter....not a good look. Idk if there's a dress code but there should be some standard at least. When she saw me standing there still she said "yeah??" Very rudely while I asked for my receipt. Finally, the floor in the dressing room is disgusting. Dust and trash fill the corners and the mirrors are dirty. Overall will not be wasting my time returning here, I might as well go to goodwill if I want same quality of clothes, service and atmosphere. read more

The experience was unorganized and time consuming. I waited for over an hour and although I had followed their trend card and brought items to match, the outcome wasn't what I was expecting. The seller was very polite and professional and this is a reflection of my selling experience, not the store or its staff. I had hoped to contribute to the sustainable clothing exchange while also making a few bucks but this experience helped me realize, the few dollars I earned wasn't worth the output of time and energy on my part. To start with- the wait is soooo long, the staff is very unprofessional and basically does not care. The merchandise they carry is cheap quick fashion type and EXTREMELY overpriced. I took in clothes from GAP, Abercrombie & fitch, Nautica and they said they don't buy these brands often... these clothes had tags on!! Basically all they have is cheap fast fashion products at very high prices. And they need better staff. read more

I did not have a great experience selling here. I brought in 2 bags full of brand name clothes, such as Hollister and a few clothes from Tilly's. After waiting for an hour and a half, the worker with the dyed hair told me she couldn't take anything because it was out of style and fast fashion. I left feeling upset because I thought they would take at least 1 item, and I also wasted time waiting in line. I'm super confused as well because the racks don't have good selections. read more

Have been coming to Crossroads Trading for 5+ years. Here are some things I've noticed recently, A lot of the styles that they are buying up are now circa 90's early 2000's clothing and as much as that is the trend *right now*, people or at least I personally don't want to purchase clothing that are priced the same as they were 15 years ago. These types of clothing should be donated to your local goodwill where you can buy said pieces for $4-8 not $25-35. I really like coming to Crossroads because there are a lot of second hand designer items and higher quality items that I could get for a reasonable price. Unfortunately I see a decline in that and more of the 2003 juicy couture tracksuits, and jeans that look like they've been worn to oblivion but are on the racks just because they are low rise. A second thing that deters me from buying designer items from Crossroads is the uneasiness about replicas. They claim to have a really good authentication process but unfortunately these days fakes are so well made that for peace of mind you sometimes want to buy something and take it to get authenticated which I think everyone should be able to do. The problem is that Crossroads does not do money back but store credit which means you can hypothetically get stuck with the item or a store credit which doesn't really make the customer feel good. That's why it's important when shopping here to leave with something you are 100% sure about that way you don't have buyers remorse. Moving on to all of the employees who work here, they are all so nice. From the probably hundreds of times I've come to shop here I have always had the best interactions with the reps who work at this location. The store itself is maintained well, always clean and often pretty busy. The shoe selection has been so so at least for my specific shoe size but that's the beauty of consignment stores, they are always getting new product in. All in all, this location in my opinion is the best that I've been to just because of the selection of designer and high quality items, I just hope that it stays closer to what has been in the past than where it currently is which is similar to the costa mesa Crossroads where all the items are overpriced and overly vintage read more

Came here to sell and ended up purchasing a piece. There was only one seller in front of me, so I spent some time browsing before my turn. I ended up finding a crop top I liked, from DeLacy LA. A quick search revealed this brand retailed for $90ish and the NWT piece was $18! Wow. I tried on a bunch of other things, but didn't find anything I liked. I liked the selection here - designer pieces, fashionable. Definitely different from the Oakland location. Clientele was strangely "Irvine mom" but whatever, the selection was good. I'd come back here to browse, for sure. I felt like everything was in very good condition and cheap cheap cheap for what it was. As far as selling went, my buyer was very friendly and explained the process to me very clearly. She ended up picking only three items and like a goof I left one of the price tags on, which showed the discounted price I paid, which obviously meant I got less for it. Dammit. Interestingly, the dress a 60 year old woman gave me (her cast off) was priced for the most. Go figure. :/ They didn't take any career wear but recommended a place for me to bring my clothes. I ended up getting $40 credit or $28 in cash (retail value of $80 for my three items) for what was bought. After deducting for my purchase, I walked out with a new top and $15 in cash. Not sure I would do it again - it seems fussier than I want to deal with, but I'd come back here definitely to peruse the items. I'm finding that different stores have different desires. I'm seeing a big difference between NorCal and Socal, and I'm sure there will be a difference between Irvine and Costa Mesa. read more

They're very serious about their mask policy which is a plus for me. They stop everyone at the door to make sure customers know about their new COVID guidelines. They quarantine the clothes for a few days before reviewing them so it takes at least 3? Days until you can go back to pick them up. At the beginning of fall I brought in a bunch of long sleeve clothes/ pants and they denied every single one of them since the weather wasn't cold yet so they're looking for current SoCal weather clothing. (Even though it was fall). It makes sense but I was a little annoyed. I've tried calling the store a few times to see if they were accepting long sleeve clothes but they don't pick up. Great experience selling and buying clothes! It's a higher end thrift store and the prices reflect that! The employees are very kind and helpful and I have found some real treasures here over the years :) Don't expect them to buy a bunch of clothes lol it's just Convenient to go and see what they'll buy before I donate them to my local women's shelter. Our last haul we had maybe 5 large bags of clothes and shoes well over 50 items and they chose to buy 9 items leaving us with about $80 store credit! If you want cash it's less, and if you can't spend the whole amount same day they'll put the difference on a gift card for you. You still have to pay sales tax though so keep that in mind, even with store credit. read more

My sweet elderly mother ripped a nasty loud fart and the employee didn't even bat an eye. That's how professional they are. I really like that they were sweet to my mother. My mother has a hard time seeing and is considered legally blind. She doesn't really come out of the house to shop, and Crossroads is the first thrifting store she's even been to. Now every time she comes visit me in Irvine she has to stop by here. read more
