Super expensive imo and not friendly. I have sold a few items here and I always feel so extremely ripped off when i sell anything, but there arent a lot of options around that buy. I second all the other reviews about mean girl vibez. Also a lot of people that shop here seem to be super judgy. Does not feel inclusive at all. All the employees think they work at a high end store or something. To all the employees: please calm down, you work at a thrift store. Overall would not recommend unless you want to get ripped off. I heard of this place through a friend and thought it would be a great way to aid me in spring cleaning and earn me a bit of cash for clothes I was looking to donate anyway. I had about 7 bags of clothes and purses that I drove over. The concept is that a Buyer screens the clothes you're looking to get rid of, and offers you 30% of what it's worth in cash -- or you can choose to receive 50% of what the items are worth in store credit to shop in their store. At the time of checking in, I notified one of the gals that I would only want cash in exchange for any of my items. I logged into a kiosk collecting my name, email address and phone number. Once my Buyer came out to greet me 15 minutes later, she took my ID and entered something into the computer and the begun screening through my bags. They look for specific brands and styles [mostly casual attire] because they resell the items through consignment. My Buyer was a bit sarcastic and not very personable. She didn't accept anything in my 7 bags because they were not the brands the store looks to purchase. During the interaction, she kept conversing with a cashier and would not give me eye contact. In the end, she didn't even thank me or say anything to me as I was hauling my bags back out to the car. Even though it was my first time and agree that the concept is economical -- I would not return to this location. read more

Terrible business in every aspect of the word terrible. I've sold to this location many times and I bring in the same styles that they have purchased previously because I know what they are interested in. Today I arrived with similar items & I was first in line on their waitlist. Upon arrival I was told that I needed to wait longer. Pretty bad first impression based off the initial interaction. After being called up, I handed over my items and was told to browse the store while they make their offer. I waited no more than 5 minutes before I was called up and told that my offer was ready. When I walked back up to the counter they informed that they wouldn't take any items from me today. I'm not sure how they operate but after today I will not return to crossroads. In the past they have given me extremely low offers on brand new items with tags still attached and I have sold the same items to Plato's Closet in San Jose for a much larger higher pay out than what crossroads offered me. The girls who work at Crossroads will only buy clothes that they want to purchase themselves. Do not waste your time at this business... go to Plato's Closet for a much better thrift experience as a buyer and seller!!!! read more

Dropped in here in a Wednesday afternoon and logged into their tablet to sell some clothes. This is pretty simple and effective and ended up coming back an hour later and didn't have to wait too long. I suspect this store gets pretty busy as there was a lot of people in front of me waiting to sell. but they have a pretty streamlined process and work fairly quickly through people's stuff they're trying to sell. I did some perusing around but didn't buy anything. they have a ton of inventory and this location is super big. they got a good selection of pre-owned clothing and shoes and accessories. Sarah was super nice and answered some general questions I had and she ended up being the person that I brought a bunch of women's denim jeans too. She took a ton of stuff I had for sale and she was very informative on the cash versus trade, and consignment of clothing that they look for when people are reselling. I had a great experience here and I haven't been here in over 6 years. Will definitely pop back in and try to sell some more stuff, Sarah is super cool, love her style and she is cute I ended up taking the cash instead of trade. I called the San Carlos, California location and spoke with one of the employees about liquidating large amount of inventory from one of our e-commerce music Merch projects. After speaking to one of the employees for about 30 minutes he indicated that they would be interested, but I would need to speak with the manager. After speaking another 30 minutes with the manager and having to re-explain everything, she indicated that I would need to speak with corporate headquarters based in Berkeley California. She proceeded to take down my contact information, phone, email, and stated she would send me information on who to contact in Berkeley. I checked my email and there was nothing from her. Called back on Sunday and I had to re-explain everything to another employee. She then puts me on hold again, and after five minutes, she stated that I have to call back on Tuesday to speak to another manager. I told her that I was not happy about all my time being wasted, and she proceeded to tell me that's just the way it is and I'm just an employee. Every time I would try to say something she would cut me off by stating I'm just an employee, I'm just an employee, I'm just an employee. Went in today to check out some clothes but mainly to sell. It was my first time here and right off the bat you don't get greeted and staff is not friendly at all. I made my way to the sell counter. There were 4 employees. You would think they'd look at you and ask if you needed help but no, my boyfriend and I got blank stares. Again, since it was our first time there we didn't know we had to check in or anything, and we were looking at the employees waiting for them to stop talking to each other so maybe they could assist us but not one employee helped. I ended up joining the waitlist at 12 being 9th in queue and received a text at 2:45 that it was my turn, which was pretty ridiculous. While going around the store to wait for my name to be called, we saw some merchandise behind some employees at the sell counter. My boyfriend wanted to just look at the shoes that were behind them and he asked the employee if he could look at it. She just blank stares us and says "it's not for sale" and he asked if it was okay to just look at it and she just stares at us! At least one other employee agreed for us to just look at the shoe, we never said anything about buying it. Definitely not coming back here. I recommend the Crossroads in Blossom Hill, at least they say hi. If I could give 0 stars I would, because the customer service was nowhere to be found. Use your time somewhere else. read more

I've been selling items here for over 5 years, all kinds of great current labels + high end labels. Went in again today and brought in 5 bags of all kinds of great clothing brands. After an hour wait, they took 3 items, 3! I found that the buyers tend to be young, most likely taking in brands just for the millennial but how about older women/men? I would suggest hiring buyers that are beyond college years so they know that some labels will sell - just not to the younger crowd. read more

I've been a buyer and a seller here and this is my experience... As a buyer, I've plenty of of affordable but nice pieces here. Good sweats, heels, jackets, etc... I have a very neutral opinion about this place. Let's talk about the advantages first. This store is rather large and has a good number of clothing racks that you can sift through to get that unique piece of clothing you never knew you needed. The store is well organized with each type of clothing as well as the sizing. Their shoe selection is organized on top of the clothing racks throughout the store. If you're really lucky, you can find some awesome clothes for cheap. I found a pair of lightly used Adidas Ultraboosts for ~$28, which is a steal compared to the $180 retail price. I've found other cool items from time to time, but it's a large hit or miss for me here. Now let's dive into the disadvantages. What's cool here is that you can actually sell your clothes here, where they buy your clothes at a (LOW) price and sell it for higher on the floor. I recently came here with 3 full bags of clothes to sell. They ended up buying a pair of shoes, a blouse, and a button up and offered $15 cash or $25 store credit. I'm not saying my clothes are the best in the world, but I thought more than just 3 items would be accepted. What I found interesting was that most of the time the employee doesn't even mention which clothes/items they'll keep, but will just tell you how much money you'll get back. The part that irked me the most was that I found the same pair of shoes (but in a different color) selling for $28, and the 3 items + the same shoe came out to even less than that. I know it's a business, but they drive a hard bargain. I come here when I'm in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to check here every week. My first time experience selling here was pretty good! My reason for taking 1 star off is only because I knew they could've bought more stuff but I get it. I'm new to San Jose and was looking to get rid of some old clothes and accessories since I upgrade my wardrobe every so often. I've sold stuff to stores similar to Crossroads such as Buffalo Exchange, Plato's Closet and other consignment stores. I've also worked on the other side of a selling counter - looking through items and picking & choosing which ones I want to take, so I understand why a buyer reject items especially popular/high end brands. Why I rated Crossroads 4-stars is for their wait list app which allows you to take your place in line from the comfort of your home instead of having to go there, write your name down, wait for your turn, and then they sort through your stuff. This is truly a game changer. While I was at home, I was able to place myself in line and see what number I was in their queue. On a Saturday afternoon, I was the 11th person in line. Crossroads is about a 20 minute drive from where I live, so I decided to leave my place once the app showed I'm 5th in line. This is where the app check-in was convenient, because it took a total of 1 hour and 38 minutes until I got to the front, but during that duration, I was able to do stuff at my house until it was time to go! By the time I parked at Crossroads, the app showed I was 3rd in line so I stayed in my car for maybe close to 15 minutes and then I walked in straight to the selling counter. I was able to sell a good amount of items and got a pretty reasonable cash out; better than just donating to Goodwill right away hehe. Some advice (if you've read the 1-star reviews) - Don't have high expectations that all your stuff will be taken or think you'll get top dollar for your brand items. Think of Crossroads like a pawn shop; their business is to buy what you bring them and sell it in their store for more than what they paid you for it. read more

I usually go to the Blossom Hill store but since I was in the neighborhood thought I'd give this one a try. I was there right when they opened and it was a speedy process, maybe 15 minutes tops. I had about 5 purses - Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Michael Kors & Kate Spade-and bags of clothes/belts. They pretty much took everything! We decided to consign few slightly new/brand new purses. The selection of purses here is way better than the Blossom Hill location. I only glanced at the clothing but it seemed like they had great stuff. All the ladies working there were polite, efficient and professional so no complaints there-great service. read more

I've always felt like thrifting is a hit or miss, so I wasn't expecting much going here for my first time. I went on a Saturday and was surprised to see it so busy, from people dropping off their clothes to give away to people shopping through an endless amount of racks. They actually have a good amount of name brand stuff for affordable prices! My sister found Lulus for less 20 something bucks! I was also able to find a few things without breaking the bank, so I definitely suggest to stop by during the weekend! I'll be moving in about two weeks, so for the past couple of weeks I have been purging through the house getting rid of all the junk I forgot existed! When it came time to go through my closet and drawers, I had about 4 boxes full clothes that I needed to let go. My co-workers told me about Crossroads as a good place to get rid on unwanted items, so I went through everything, and decided to take in some Jeans (7forallmankind, AG, Hudson and Paige). When selling, you can get either 33% of their selling price in cash or 50% of their selling price for store credit. When you arrive, there is an ipad to check in. They give you an option to either call you by name, or send you a text when you're next. They also have a drop off service where you just drop off your stuff, and then the next day you go pick up whatever they didn't buy (or you have the option to donate). When I went back the next day, they had decided to purchase about 4 jeans, $24.60 cash ($30 store credit) - take it as you will. Customer service seems to be a hit or miss here. When I dropped off my items, the girl who helped me was rude. But when I picked up my items, the girl who helped me then was nice. Honestly, I don't expect much from these places though. This isn't the place I would go and shop for clothes, and maybe I'll come back to sell. But it's a hassle so who knows. At least I was able to sell to get some money back. I'll be donating the rest. Not sure why there's so many negative reviews against the customer service here; I've only had positive experiences at this location! In fact, this is my favorite thrift store in San Jose. I've come here a few times in the past (I used to get most of my denim from Crossroads) - and quite a few times recently during COVID. What I like about Crossroads (in comparison to other thrift stores) is its lack of pretentiousness, while still feeling like their selection is carefully curated. They always have a really nice range of simple basics, designer picks, and mid-tier treasures. The prices also cannot be beat; I recently got a haul of clothes from Crossroads (ranging from skirts to tops to dresses) and no item exceeded $15. Every piece of clothing was really nice quality and gave my wardrobe a great refresh. I appreciate in COVID too that they allow returns; most other thrift stores are operating on a "final sale" basis which makes shopping off-putting. Again, I've had nothing but friendly/positive experiences with the staff here. I'm not sure of his name but there is one male staff member I've seen each time I've visited who has been nothing but polite, helpful, and conversational. PARKING: Outside parking lot is small, but I was able to find a spot. The lot is shared with an adult store. SELLING: When you first walk in, there is a sign-in clipboard to put your name. There was a girl at the counter who let me know the wait time would be around 25 minutes and if that's okay. You're able to leave your bag of clothes behind the counter so you can shop while you wait. My wait ended up being 45 minutes. ITEMS: They don't take items that are too formal so I wasn't able to sell my black wrist clutch purse with beading on it. My TokiDoki bag the guy informed me they sell really easily, but for the price they offered me I decided to keep it. BUYING: Overall it seems like they don't offer much for sellable clothes, but I guess they have to make a profit and pay for their overhead so if you are strapped for cash then this is better than nothing. Also a way to easily get the clothes off your hands instead of trying to take the time and effort to sell them yourself or donate it and try to write it off on your taxes (which my dad said is usually not worth it unless you donate high ticket items). STORE: I found some items I would possibly buy, and it is cheaper than at the store, but you have to wonder if you wouldn't mind paying the extra couple or few or several dollars for a brand new item. I guess everything adds up though. One thing to warn about the store is after you go through racks, there's a greasy oil feel on your hands. I like the way the store is organized it was easy to go to garment type, then go through to the colors you like. OVERALL: Overall I give them three stars for A-OK. The guy who helped me at the desk was really nice and spoke in a gentle friendly tone of voice, which was nice considering I had been waiting for a long time. Also the girl in the fitting room was nice too. I overheard a staff member chatting it up with a customer. So overall it seems like the people working here are nice, friendly, and are efficiently working and not just standing around. read more

This place is very overpriced. I walked in and I'm like wait what? With these prices I rather buy new. They had a coach purse for $120 - you can pick one up at the outlet new with a small card wallet for $120. The purse wasn't even vintage or nothing special. Just a modern coach. There were jeans - $28.50 plus half off but the crotch area was roughed up and a bit ripped. So that was a no. I mean if you go to Ross, Marshall's, TJ Max, Burlington you can find great deals on some new jeans. I think there is this big trend on social media with buying used and saving the planet. I get it saving the planet is good but these prices are a total rip off. I rather get me a new pair of jeans with a new crotch area- For less than $28.50 or even half that price. If the prices were better for used I would be more willing to shop secondhand. I wasn't fond of anything here to be quite honest. The prices weren't WOW! It was meh! The store took 3 items, and gave me $14.70. Don't expect a lot of money back, because the store needs to make money as well... My experience as a seller/buyer. First of all, yeah the staff is not so friendly. They act like Depop kids ain't even gonna lie, and probably won't talk to you unless y'all share the same vibe or want to purchase something/have question. But personally, I don't really care, I'm just stating this is what it feels like from a customer pov. Secondly, most of the time I come in everyone here working is white, so why are y'all playing music w the N word in it? (I am not black, but I know when something ain't right lmao) Maybe stick to some more customer friendly music. Some feedback would be to improve these two components because they are obviously impacting your customer service rate. Be more inclusive and diverse towards your customer! Look, only buy stuff here that you FALL IN LOVE WITH IMMEDIATELY . I have found a lot of my personal dream wardrobe items here from less than $60 for each item. Once I found pants that retail for $120, for $18 and they fit me so perfectly there wasn't a doubt in my mind. If you do have doubts, ask them to put them on hold for you for a day, sleep on it, and come back again (if you can) to see if it's the right choice. If not buy it and return it but keep in mind they only do store credit for refunds! As a seller, know your seasonal audience. I have noticed that they do tend to stick to trends, so see if u have anything in your wardrobe that is trendy to sell. Also seasons matter! Don't sell furry coats during the beginning of summer! They are looking for clothes for the season. At the beginning of fall, that's when you go in w the furry coats, vice versa. Never wait for more than an hour to sell unless you know for a fact they are gonna take more than 4+ items from you, because most of the time they take like 2 things for $15 dollars in credit lmao. Lastly, save any clothes that they didn't take to resell in the future or just donate them to charity/churches for a better cause! Thats just my own opinion over the last year and a half that I have shopped at this location. Overall it's been nice, but improvements can be made here and there. Doesn't mean the staff is bad but they need to be more inclusive of all their customers. Also, keep in mind you are buying second hand clothing! This is a good thing for the environment since instead of purchasing from fast fashion, you're doing ti second hand. So yeah, the average price tag is $15-$25 dollars second hand(which is the same as buying something new at a dash fashion store) but this is environmentally friendly! Please keep that in mind as you shop because it is important to be aware of the harmful aspects of fast fashion. read more

I am officially done with this place. I used to shop at the crossroads Portland location, but have been to their Santa Barbara and San Jose locations also.... Once in awhile I'll find something I love, occasionally brand new with the original tags still on. Look, I'm a picky gal and I am often told how stylish I am. I wear my clothes SUPER gently, I don't smoke or have a cat to shed on or snag my wardrobe, so there isn't anything funky going on with the clothes I try to sell. My friends also laugh at the "selling/trade in" crawl of shame at these stores. A few days ago I took in TWO perfect name brand jackets, and a brand spankin' new pair of Birkenstock clogs, never ever worn.; These three items were $630 dollars new (yes, $630) 1) Nau Urbane $300 NEW, ended up being too short for me, and I removed the tags. 2) Patagonia women's primaloft with a hood $250 Perfect 3) Never worn Birkenstock clogs from Germany $130 a bit too big The buyer wanted none of them! I had to google the Nau urbane jacket and and show her she was passing on a new $300 jacket, so they finally gave me like $18? I would have put it on Craigslist but people are so flaky on there plus with something so specific size wise, "meh" I left crossroads and went directly to patagonia where they have a trade in program and no questions asked got a $75 gift card for my jacket. This is how it always is at crossroads. I GET that they probably have specific buying guidelines, but...... So, I tried once more; Tiffany's pure silver $325 ring in the fricking Tiffany's box! "Nope!" Gap linen shirt, $59 a few months ago. J Crew silky denim dress, so cute, too small for me. Lucky purse, never worn Lucky necklace; "nope." And more. I often see cheap/basic/tacky stuff on sale here so, who is buying that?!? Dirty shoes, last week a pair with the insoles totally ripped out. Broken zipper purse etc etc I took my stuff to Goodwill and it felt SO great to donate to an organization with people trying to turn their lives around, not people who think their lives are "too cool" for you, buyers at essentially a stylish Goodwill. Honestly, this place is a total hit or miss but I love thrifting for their marked down prices of quality clothes. I also like how you can sell some of your own clothes for cash or store credit (they take shirts, dresses, pants, workout clothes, shoes of all types, shorts, skirts, bags, and more!) I recently came here and was able to rack up a bunch of cute tops, dresses, jeans, and shoes! I think it really depends on what other people are bringing in. I think that this Cross Roads is one of the better thrift stores in SJ and would definitely check it out. Here are some tips: If you are trying to sell clothes: 1. DON'T GET MAD IF THEY DON'T TAKE IT. I'm not sure what their style guidelines are on what to take or not, but some of the things I see them accepting are WEIRD AF. Maybe it's just that I'm not trendy enough?? But anyways, bring clothes that are relevant to the SEASON you are in currently. That means for Summer, bring in sandals, tanks, shorts, etc.. Which will give you more of a chance to selling things. 2. Bring your stuff in and get on the waiting list - then shop in the meantime! Just because you're selling clothes doesn't mean you can't look around the store for other things. Just be aware that your name will be called by a person at the front desk. 3. Bring your clothes that you couldn't sell to another thrift store - like Plato's Closet. After I try to sell my clothes here, I then bring the remaining clothes to Plato's closet (which i think takes less trendier things and more teenager-ish apparel. I like this Crossroads location better than the one in South SJ on Blossom Hill Rd. for both buying and selling used clothes and footwear. We all know that when it comes to selling, these places can be a hit or miss. My first time here, I came with two big bags of shoes and apparel and made about $70. They didn't take everything, but that trip was definitely a W! The staff is pretty friendly. So, don't be shy to ask what they are looking for this season. If you are a Sneakerhead, they have a good selection of used Nike vintage silhouettes, and you'll be surprised to find a pair of Air Forces, SB Dunks, Air Jordans, as well as Vans and Adidas. For performance lines, I've seen various Nike Air Max and Hyperdunk models. In addition, if you are into streetwear, you might come across vintage HUF, Benny Gold, and TRUE tees. My favorite pick-up from here was a used wool Pendleton short-sleeve button up in a Black Watch (green & blue) style tartan plaid print, which I picked up for $15. read more
