Let's put the 'moose on the table'. These folks deliver the finest service of any competing store. Lot's of knowedgeable help everythere. Store is not big-box (Costco/Home Depot). You're in and out fast.,,but there is still plenty to choose from. The itch is with price...seems like it always has been. So I want to go 5 star, but can't on price. Yet, they are our 'go to' hardware store for anything with an immediate need. Candidly, the value of saved time and a friendly face are the difference makers here. I love coming to this location and they always have what I'm looking for. However I was in here on 1/18/26 evening looking for a key for a gift to send my family member on her new home. I asked an older man who worked there wearing a beanie and with a foreign accent for help. Then he tells me the cute decorative key I was going to buy would not work. I have bought many keys like this one before and never had a problem. He then took me and showed me the different door handles and locks. All he did was not call me "stupid," but his actions and words toward me were so mean spirited and aggressive. I told the very nice lady who checked me out about it. He almost made me cry, made me feel dumb and wrecked my evening by being so short tempered. I've never been spoken to like that before and seriously hope management will talk to him or put someone else in charge of the key department. Someone who's understanding, patient and does make the customer fee terrible. Other than this man everyone has been nothing but kind and helpful. I will never go here if I need a key unless there is someone else to help. Plus I spent $28 something. Just not acceptable. read more

This review is from my dog Dottie: I absolutely love this place. Whenever we are taking a walk and I see it I instantly start pulling on my leash to get inside. Everyone on staff loves puppers and somehow magically pulls treats out of their pockets. I have this trick where I purposely drop a treat so they try again. They haven't figured it out yet. My toilet has been "broken" for a week-it wouldn't stop running and I shut it off. My plumber has been on vacation. A friend suggested that I should do it myself-EEK. So I took a picture of the inside of the toilet and went to the Ace in Corona Del Mar (my favorite). The cashier/greeter was very pleasant and helpful. She directed me to the plumbing department and Sid. Sid is incredible. I showed him the picture and he went right to the part I needed and gave me very detailed directions on what I needed to do to install the part. I went home and did exactly what he told me to do and IT WORKED. So, for $10.99 instead of a plumbing service call my toilet is working. Thank you Sid and thank you Ace CDM. read more

It's getting worse, even after being forced to "suck it up" the Crown Ace employee gives me the wrong contact information for Milwaukee and it turns out the number they give me is for a Milwaukee distributor in the Midwest and will only sell me new batteries and tools. Crown Ace you're lucky to be in the right location with limited choices...you really can take advantage of the public. Now let's wrap this up.....according to Milwaukee the battery had a manufacturing date of 2016 for a battery I bought in 2020 or 2021.....so in fact the NEW battery I bought new was already out of warranty. I brought some bulbs for my garage they ended up being the wrong size this is when the pandemic happened I came on 2 occasions and I was told no returns were allowed since it was the pandemic to come after. Well the pandemic never ended so I came over to return or even just get credit for these lights in original boxes never opened or used. The manager is telling me they only didnt take returns for 1 week. This is a LIE it was at least 6 months and I was told I could return it now. I really needed to get an 8mm wrench and I was in a hurry after work. I went in found the wrench's and their locked. I wander up and down every aisle and there is no one in the store . I wait for 5 minutes for a customer doing a return to talk to the person at the front . Ask her to get it for me. She says no I'll call someone to meet you there. I'm pissed at this point. Wait for someone to get there and I get back and someone else came in for another return. Great. Now the waiting game again. After waiting for the return, he asks for propane tanks. I said "yes they have to call someone to meet you there" and she says "ill have someone get that" and has me wait longer. Then asks him to sign up for an ace card. I left after that without the wrench. During all this I see 2 other workers. Neither ring me up. Never coming here and don't reccomened anyone else to unless you got a lot of time read more

Do not get keys made here. They use very cheap blanks and most of their copies do not work. They suggested that I have the lock checked rather than remake the key that they messed up. read more

She had me waiting saying that the manager would return the items but had just stepped out. A different manager arrived and told me no and clerk lady denied ever telling me it was a possibility. Most of the time I find the CDM store and the westcliff store is under staffed and under stocked on things that are actually useful like a Quart size Ben Moore Primer (Blanco ) Pretty standard stuff here....-and it's only available if you want a gallon . It's a fine store if you want to buy beach crap or cooking crap or a Mr Coffee...or a few odds n ends you don't really need or want. I'm going to Ganal Lumber or however it's spelled. At least they can decide what to call their store. Not some Hybrid of 2 stores. ACe/Crown please step it up and hire a few more people instead of being cheap and understaffing and focus on keeping things people use in stock.. read more

I come in all the time and one of the employees named Christian is absolutely fantastic. He is always so helpful, has a smile on his face, and is very knowledgeable no matter what it is that I need.
