I paid $2200 for my Max Mara Teddie coat (famous for soft and fluffy) in January 2024. Wore it a few times only ( it is warm bay area!). Brought in for clean April 2024 and returned just fine. Wore it twice IN 2025 and brought in for clean March 2025. I called ahead and was told it is ready. When I got there, the fluffy coat lost ALL OF ITS FLUFFY and is no longer SOFT. The $2200 coat has been RUINED!!! The owner kept saying that as time goes on , they will lose fluffyness. Even though I told her MANY TIMES that my coat is only one year old ( bought January 2024) and I wore it a few times only. And she charged $55 ( OVERPRICED) for cleaning this coat and TOTALLY RUINED IT!!! read more

I should have heeded the warnings from other Yelp reviews! After my regular cleaners closed after many years of good service, I had to find a new place to clean my shirts and other garments. I took 7 shirts to Crown Cleaners and expected to pay $3.95 each. But when I went to pick them up, I was told that EVERY shirt was stained and needed extra treatment and the cost was DOUBLE -- $7.95 per shirt, or more than $55.00!! This is apparentlly standard procedure here. I could believe that a few of my shirts might need the extra treatment, but not EVERY shirt, including several that were nearly new. I will definitely not return here but continue my search for a good, honest cleaners. read more

From 2016 to 2020, it was always Crown Cleaners where I dry cleaned my clothes and husband's clothes too. The owner Karen was knowledgeable and truthful when it came to advice on cleaning (or not cleaning) some of our more elaborate items, specifically our heavy beaded or embroidered suits from Punjab Pakistan and Delhi India, especially salvars, shervanis and lehengas. Our other more conventional office work shirts and pants were always perfectly cleaned, pressed, labeled, and double-labeled on the garment tags. I am confused by some of the negative reviews written on this Yelp page about Crown Cleaners, because all my dry cleaning tickets done year-round for four years from 2016 to 2020 were uniformly excellent. On several occasions, Karen even noticed and repaired missing buttons and liner holes in jackets, without my realizing, requesting or paying for the repairs. I can't help but jump on the bandwagon here. I moved to Cupertino several months ago from the East Side. I usually have about 5 to 8 shirts and maybe one or two pairs of pants for each trip. On the East Side I paid about $35 for this much. When I got my bill the first time (and the last) it was over $75.00. I also had difficulty getting the price per shirt and was given the excuse that they had to remove stains. The shirts were not stained when I dropped them! Predatory pricing to the max! I smiled nicely and paid my bill knowing the ultimate price was paid by THEM, not me. You lost a customer after one cleaning! Never have I seen such an overpriced service. read more

I've never had such attentive, friendly service at a dry-cleaning establishment before. They made it a pleasure to pickup my drycleaning, not just a chore -- the gentleman at the counter smiled, acted quickly, and practically bowed when he took my credit card! I felt so special, and all I was doing was picking up a dress. Now, on to the actual important stuff: the cleaning. First, a little background -- the dress I took for cleaning was my wedding dress. My wedding dress is a custom-made silk chiffon and silk satin three-part outfit with hand-beading and a cotton underskirt...and it's hand-dyed a lavender-to-purple ombre. So, it's a really complicated piece of clothing. I designed my dress with the intention of wearing it to fancy-dress balls (for as long as it fits!). Which means I dance in it. And sweat in it. And the hem gets stepped on, repeatedly. When I took it to Crown Cleaners, it was, ahem, salty, and the hem was covered in gray marks. When I got it back from Crown, it was fresh as a pollen-free spring day and perfectly pressed. No noticeable impact on the color, beading, rolled hems, etc. They also cleaned my husband's custom light-green tux shirt (complete with pleats) with excellent success and treated the hand-sewn amethyst collar button with utmost care. The total price for the cleaning was very fair, considering the intracacy of the garment and the number of individual pieces (4), and about 40% less than other places (mainly because I did not utter the word "wedding" anywhere near the word "dress"). I would highly recommend Crown's services for all your special items! read more

A dry cleaner is a dry cleaner when it comes to just cleaning some of my special wardrobe items. BUT, Crown Cleaners are the only people I trust to fix my jeans. I'm a lover of fine denim, which I wear often, so holes are inevitable. The first time, I tore up the bottom hem of my Rock and Republics--I seriously almost cried--and they hemmed them up so nicely, I couldn't even tell the difference between what the original hem looked like and what they did. I've also taken some Hudson and Seven jeans with little holes and they fixed those right up too. Like everyone else has said, the people who own Crown Cleaners are beyond nice and will do everything they can for you. This place is super close to my house as well, so it's extra great that the most convenient dry cleaner is also the best. read more

A week before the wedding, my wedding dress was a rumpled, wrinkled mess. Unsure who I could trust to fix it, I searched Yelp and found Crown Cleaners. Crown Cleaners delivered. When I got the dress back, it was perfect. Crown even included a bust-shaped hanger that helped to keep the dress smooth and perfect until the wedding. I paid $40 for the job, and given the high cost of everything wedding, that seems reasonable. I admit, I don't take all my dry cleaning to Crown Cleaners. Buyer beware -- PREDATORY PRICING! This place is a rip off and they won't tell you that before you pay. I gave two items to be dry cleaned, a regular t-shirt that because of a stain I asked for it to be dry cleaned and then a pair of pants which had a stain as well. I was given a receipt. I did not notice but there were no dollar amounts listed for either item on the receipt. When I returned to pick up the two items, I was handed a bill for $23.95. I was told as to the t-shirt they were unable to remove the stain. Regardless, I balked at the extreme cost for only two items and the fact that I had not been given any notice. I was rudely told there was a price sign hanging on the wall in the store that provided sufficient notice. When I looked, there was a sign listing several prices including one that said "$7.95" with an arrow next to it pointing up. I was told this meant the store could charge me whatever they wanted in excess of $7.95 without first disclosing the price before work began. Had I known the pricing, or had I been told via the receipt, I would not be complaining. As someone who lives on a fixed income, this kind of predatory pricing is unacceptable. read more

I agree with the previous two reviewers. Crown Cleaners was a recommendation from a co-worker's wife when I first moved to the Bay Area. I drive out of my way to go here and I've never been disappointed. At first, I would make trips there every few weeks and then once a month. When my travel schedule picked up, I wouldn't be there as often, but I would always be greeted by name and with a big smile. The employees here know their craft and have a good eye for detail and customer service. I've used them for tailoring as well as dry cleaning. I once had a long pair of pants that I step through and tore a hole in them with the heel of my shoe. I took the pants into Crown Cleaners hoping they could be hemmed (they were just too long for me). All hope was lost for them being hemmed without being obvious, so Crown had them turned into capris which are really cute. I highly recommend them!! read more

Crown does a GREAT job! I have had multiple dry cleaning disasters in the past, so I'm always pretty wary about trying a new place, but.... we've been going here since I relocated to Los Altos in August, and they always do as promised. On time, stains removed, pressed or starched the way you requested-- not one problem! They also do upholstery, etc-- I brought in a couch cushion cover and they worked wonders with it! The families have switched over and unfortunately with that, the service has gone down the drain. They no longer know my name, or just make up a pronunciation of it that's entirely wrong. I can get past that, but what I can't get past is the shoddy work. One incident they fixed (they cut fashionable threads off my sweater but managed to fix it...not perfect but passable). The final incident was when I dropped off a leather sweater to be cleaned. It had been cleaned there before with no incident (other family was present at the time). I pointed out to the woman (who barely understands English, I have come to find out) that the sweater had leather. She didn't say a word... I came back in when my order was ready only to find out they didn't dry clean my leather sweater. They didn't feel equipped to do it. Nobody called me that my order wasn't going to be complete. I was counting on that sweater being cleaned. They asked me if I wanted to send it to a "professional leather cleaner" (aren't they a professional leather cleaner, they cleaned it before just fine?!?!). That cleaner would take FOUR WEEKS. I'm done. Mind you, I was a 20-year+ customer of Crown Cleanres and they've now lost me. I won't be back, except maybe to retrieve some slacks that I think they misplaced. read more

They were rude, They do NOT stand behind their work, expensive and very unprofessional. This was the only cleaner we had been going to for the last 8 years. I always thought it a tad expensive, and impersonable, but it was convenient enough that I was willing to pay. As business owners ourselves, we feel it is important to patronage local businesses. Today I went to go get some more badges sewn on my sons uniform. I also had noticed the last visit (10 days prior) they had not fully outlined one of many small badges. The man at the counter denied it was their work claiming it was glued and that they outline sew, and do not glue badges. This is frustrating, because this IS the ONLY cleaner we have used, I told him this. AS well he recognized me . In the past I had to have them replace one badge for another smaller one, and there was glue residue there, therefore they do use the glue. I was completely taken aback by his nasty attitude after all the times we have used them for comforters as well as Tayloring, uniform badges and cleaning. He denied it was their work. To smooth the situation, I then suggested he do the other badges I was bringing in, worth far more then the one in discussion, and finish the one already paid for. He said I would have to pay $5 for it. (I already paid $5 for that one!) I was trying to allow him an out so he could still have our business, and move past his defensive attitude. The part that frustrates me, is that if they do shoddy work on one small thing and are willing to lose a customer of long standing on a $5 item, then what happens when they do shoddy work on the larger ticket items like $45 on a comforter?! Rarely do I write anything negative, or even complain, but this was a bit shocking. If we treated our customers this way, we would not have a business. The bottom line is, it is hard to trust someone, who lies to your face. Further, when you are willing to be so disrespectful to someone over a $5 item, and don't recognize the potential $$$ that you are forcing away by simply NOT standing behind your work, is really disappointing. I recently took my wedding dress to Crown Cleaners for dry cleaning and had the worst possible experience. The dress is a two-piece wear that I personally designed, working with a designer in San Francisco and a workshop in India. It included two gold metal toggles sewed on the top right chest area, and a skirt made of chiffon silk. After my wedding, I brought my dress in for dry cleaning and to fix a small tear in the waist area of the skirt. The employee agreed to fix the tear, but she insisted they would have to remove the metal toggles to avoid damage during the dry cleaning process, and then they would sew them back on afterwards. I was skeptical but thought they must know what they were doing. When I picked up the dress two weeks later, the employee (who had helped me before) handed me the dress and proceeded to ring me up. However, when I inspected the dress, I was utterly disappointed! The metal toggles were gone, replaced with a bunch of ugly cheap flower ribbons. I asked the employee what had happened. She said that the gold toggles fell and broke when they were removed. I pressed for a better explanation, but she wouldn't say anything more. They had never called to tell me they had broken the toggles. The employee didn't admit their mistake even at check out, and she showed no remorse until I pressed to find out what happened. Then all she said was, "Sorry." I inspected the chiffon skirt and found it was still completely wrinkled and that the tear was still there. I asked the employee why they didn't stitch up the tear. She didn't say anything other than offering to take back the dress and stitch it up later. I expressed my profound disappointment and explained how this dress was very important to me because it commemorated my wedding. The staff repeatedly said sorry, but did not offer any solutions. Since I will need to take it back to the designer to fix the dress (including finding materials from India), I asked them to pay for the repairs. The staff refused to pay for even part of the repair, and only waived the dry cleaning fee as compensation. I was furious at the way the staff treated me. They never acknowledged their mistake during the entire process and did not consult me before completely changing the design of my custom-made dress, which cost about $2,000. They also disrespected me, when the staff didn't point out the mistake during check out and was going to charge me as usual. I can't believe they thought they would get away with such a horrendous error and that I wouldn't notice. I certainly will not do business with them again. read more

Twice I brought in shirts for alterations and pick them up with the expectation that the work would be sound. Instead, I found a loose buttons, loose threads, and cheap materials. When I called this to their attention, they said I could pay more to have it fixed. Coincidentally, the day I was in there, a lady complained about how there was a stain on her dress. They told her she needed to pay to get it dry cleaned again. I don't like this place at all. Several businesses in the Silicon Valley have a very apathetic attitude toward their customers and yet charge the highest prices. This is one of those businesses. read more

This was a brand new shirt and the buttons were well sewn so I don't know what they did to cause the button to come off. Also, they ruined my brand new $300 cashmere sweater by over-pressing it. CHEATERS!!! I had given for alteration for which the lady there charged $30. Couple days later when i went the lady asked me to pay $50 but i clearly remember she mentioning $30 when i dropped the cloth. The lady fought with me saying she had written $50 in the receipt and after an argument she just swiped my card for $40. I came back home and found the receipt and realized she hadn't written anything on it. So that's how clever she CHEATS!! She doesn't write the amount on the customer copy and overcharges later. They ruined my Korean dress!! See my photo. I have two of the same dress. Both were made of the same fabric, by the same seamstress in the same year and they were pretty much in the same condition. One on the left was cleaned by Crown Cleaners and the other on the right cleaned at a different cleaner. They were supposed to hand wash the dress as the patterns on the dress top were delicate, but clearly they did not. Unlike the right one in the photo which was correctly hand washed by the other cleaner, the Crown Cleaners people lied about hand washing and tried to make excuses of their unprofessional work and sloppiness, and they continued to insist that they hand washed the dress. But one can see clearly that it isn't the case. Note the loose and frayed collar, faded silver pattern and the damaged blue corner accent. DO NOT take your clothes to this cleaner. You can't trust their integrity. They are NOT RELIABLE and their charge is also extremely high!! They never apologized for ruining my clothes. I would say stay far away. I agree with all reviewers that they do a good job on the cleaning and their customer service is excellent. The reason I am giving 2 stars is that their prices are absolutely insulting. I took my dry cleaning in when I was home visiting my parents for the holidays. Their prices are literally 3x as much as any other cleaner I have ever been to in the city and I take my dry cleaning in regularly. $13 for a scarf, $15 for a skirt... are you kidding me??? If I drove to the city and back to drop my cleaning off, I still would've come out ahead. I would never go back here again, regardless of how friendly they may be. read more

Great service, high and unpredictable prices. That's fine when I occasionally bring in a suit or sweater for dry cleaning, but sometimes you need the cleaners to do something small... like press some shirts. On the phone, Crown Cleaners said $2-3 depending on the shirt. (Other places nearby say $2.) When I brought in three shirts, the bill came out to $3 per shirt. Dandy. Then this week, I brought in eight shirts. The bill was $5 per shirt. What happened to $3 per shirt? What exactly are they doing that's worth $5 per shirt? I should have asked, but I was already occupied with thoughts of my upcoming Yelp review. If it matters, the shirts were casual cotton button-downs-- shirts you might wear with jeans to a bar, but not with slacks to the opera. My apartment has a condensation dryer that tends to set wrinkles into my shirts, so I can imagine that Crown might have found it took extra effort. (If it were easy, I'd do it myself.) I'll continue coming to Crown when I've got a wine-stained suit or a damaged item, but I'll take the small stuff somewhere else. read more

Never go back this cleaner. They gave me a price $7.99 for sweater dry cleaning at beginning. When I went back to pick up today, they told me it's $37 in total. The reason they gave me was" one sweater is THICKER, and one I requested for stretching. " They never mentioned extra charge for thicker sweater and stretching. I can understand stretch may spend long time or extra labor. For THICKER, just like when you go have Hair cut, long hair cut or dye has higher price, but never heard they will charge you more due to more hair or thicker hair. And I don't think the sweater is thick, so they just charge you randomly with ridiculous reasons. So disappointed!!! read more

I love these guys. They've been my cleaner for a few years, and have always delivered. Great quality of work, quick, very service oriented shop. They catch all of the occasional stains, I've had them mend rips, repair button holes, fix pants, etc. They always seems to find whatever thing I've foolishly left in my pockets and save it before it goes through the cleaning process! I recently took in a pair of men's black slacks to be hemmed at Crown Cleaners 2310 Homestead Road in Los Altos. The owner, she stated that it will be $18, and that it will be ready to pickup in 4 business days. So far so good, until a few days after having the slacks in my possession for a needed occasion, the hem job (or non job) completely sagged. As a paying customer, I entrusted Crown Cleaners to fulfill my desired needs in reference to this scope of work, and they failed with the task. Sadly I can't recommend them and will seek a dry cleaner with integrity and desire to retain their customers. read more

When I was a little girl I remember going with my mom to pick up my dad's shirts from the dry cleaners. They came perfectly folded and neatly placed into boxes. I always thought they smelled great and looked absolutely pristine. Fast forward thirty (gulp!) years and Crown Cleaners is still the pinnacle of dry cleaning. And, although my husband likes his shirts light starch and on hangers (a fact which every single employee at Crown Cleaners remembers without fail), I still see a few stacks of the shirt boxes waiting to be picked up by the old school clientele. Over the years, Crown Cleaners has never failed to get an impossible stain out, make regular size maternity pants petite all over (not just a simple hem), renew our couch cushion covers, or remember to give me two lollipops - one for each of my kids. The one "negative" review here was a rant on prices. In my mind, it is definitely worth a premium to get the kind of service, quality and consistency you get from Crown Cleaners. When I moved out of the area for school and tried another dry cleaners, I spent less money for missing buttons and still-stained clothing. Hey, you get what you pay for! read more

I took in a pair of jeans to be hemmed about a year ago, and the results weren't great. The weren't awful, but they didn't seem especially professional. The hems were a bit wider (roughly over 3/8 of an inch vs. the original 1/4 inch) than the original and seemed puffier (like they'd rolled up the excess fabric inside), and the thread was slightly off-color. All minor details but details I notice whenever I see the jeans :(. And at $12, it's a bit pricier than other tailors. read more
