I've been craving juicy fried chicken, coleslaw, mashed and gravy for weeks but didn't want to go the route of the Cornell and thought I'd give a local biz my biz, at a fairly new location, Ward st. 1st time: Chicken was slightly over cooked dry, and really spicy crust, cole slaw was overpriced, 1 cup, swimming in watery mayo, mashed was ok from a box but hugely over priced for 1/2 cup. Carrot cake was good. Food arrived cold bc doordash guy doesn't speak english and couldn't find my apt. Not Crowns fault, I know that. 2nd time a week later: still hoping I would receive the same chicken quality, it was COMPLETELY over fried hard as rock and like chewing flavorless cotton. Mashed the same mediocre over priced, received macaroni salad, not coleslaw. Macaroni salad swimming in watery mayo, too sweet. No refund. DD delivery guy was awesome. So $80 later - I'll be looking for a new fried chicken sourse. read more

Dang - good chicken! Unbelievably reasonable price for the best fried chicken I've had in a long time. A hint of spiciness in the coating, crisp on the outside, moist and tender on the inside and nice size pieces. My kind of joint: no frills, good food at a fair price. Great service. Everything my family and I ordered was just okay. We got cheese fries, white fish with spicy rice, and wings. The cheese fries and the rice were more than what we thought we'd get and quite tasty. The fried fish and the chicken however were really bland. The breading on both the chicken and the fish had no seasoning so it just fell short despite looking and smelling good. The other thing is that we had ordered wings ONLY, but what we got had ZERO wings in it (as you can tell by the box). Since we already got made it home, it wasn't like we could've just asked them and figured out if it was a mistake. We also got the world's smallest gyro. I wasn't aware of when we ordered how small it would be, but that at least tasted good. On the brighter side, the people were really nice and the service was good. No complaints there. Overall, I'd probably just come back for the fries and more likely the gyro. I'd give the fried chicken and fish another shot if they actually seasoned the breading. read more

No wonder why this place is always packed... Crown Fried Chicken is DELICIOUS! My all-time favorites are their fried chicken, chicken kebab over rice, cheesesteak, and gyros. The food is always cooked to perfection, seasoned accordingly, and the portions are pretty big! Not only are they affordable but the workers are also extremely nice and welcoming every time I visit. The best part about this place? It's open after 9 pm! If you're impatient like me, I would call ahead because they tend to take 15-20 minutes. Highly recommend! read more

Wooooweeeee, I get the hype. This is some GOOD fried chicken! I'm from the South and have pretty high expectations. This exceeded them! The mashed potatoes were average, and the Mac was alright. Rolls are just simple ones, nothing fancy. But DAMN that chicken makes up for it. Seasoned beautifully- the kind where you can taste it in there, with each bite. It's a light and crispy skin, more similar to KFC than the thicker more crunch Popeyes. It came out piping hot. That first crunch was worthy of a Mukbang video. Just absolutely delicious. The kabob was also good, but nothing extraordinary. Didn't like the chewy Oreo cake (it's probably old), but the Tres Leches was alright. Aside from that, I'm already craving this chicken again. I have been to 2 of the Crown establishments and just loved them my favorite is Tandoori Chicken over rice with Tatzicci which was as good as any 5 star restaurant! Their Fried Chicken is awesome! You can tell they change frier grease often because you can't get that golden fry ! The salads are great! Fresh Nan bread if you want fries or some other entree the menu is large! The service is always good here. They're attentive and welcoming. The menu is extensive. I forgot that they serve foods other than fried chicken. I usually order from here, I haven't really been in here to eat a meal so I couldn't tell you what the restaurant is like. I can tell you that my favorite dish and go to is the chicken kabobs over rice. The chicken is seasoned well and tender. The rice has a little kick to it and has been delicious everytime I have ordered here. I have had their fried chicken once and it was good, but I'm not a huge fried chicken fan. To start with, I was expecting great things here considering how positive most of the past reviews sound. However, this was one of the worst experiences I have had with any food restaurant. The moment we walked in and greeted the person at the front desk, he did not smile or even acknowledge us in any manner. Instead, we were met with a look of boredom and dissatisfaction. The restaurant itself was not as clean or tidy as we would have hoped, but at this point we decided we had come this far and we were expecting better; so we tried it. I ordered spicy boneless hot wings with fries, which ended up being an enormous portion of fries with a tiny quantity of chicken. Additionally, the fries were extremely thin, hardly room temperature and lacking salt. The chicken sandwich my partner ordered was average. Not outstanding, but not horrible either. The place is called Crown Fried Chicken. Stick with the chicken. I'd go back for it and pick it over KFC no problem. The Gyro, not so much. The meat had the texture of that Salisbury steak you used to get in elementary school. It does not get carved off a rotisserie spit, it comes out of the freezer in strips.
