KIAs & Hyundais ARE STRAIGHT UP GARBAGE, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very slim chance of a KIA making it to 100k miles without major issues. Their warranties are cleverly designed to only apply to the original owner. 100k miles is 100k miles. Why should it matter who owns the car during that period? It's because they know most original owners won't keep these stressful-to-own, over-engineered (or more like mis-engineered), problem-ridden pieces of junk anywhere remotely close 100k miles. So that's how they can afford to offer such a "great" warranty. These vehicles seemingly come with all this sizzle, only to get all burnt up to a crisp with catastrophic failure when the frying pan gets even a little hot. Of course the KIA sales people will tell you anything to sell you a car. "It's new German engineering from the designer that left Volkswagen" or "The company has really turned itself around in the last couple of years or something along that lines, blah blah blah... Don't fall for it. Don't try and rationalize or justify a purchase (ESPECIALLY PRE-OWNED) for any reason whatsoever. Spend the extra money for a new or CPO Toyota. Avoiding the headaches will be well worth it. If you think you're saving money by buying a KIA - WRONG. Factor in the imperative need for a hit or miss extended warranty and future repairs and you are most DEFINITELY NOT saving any money. If you read this and still decide to be stupid enough to buy a KIA or Hyundai, THAT'S ON YOU. You have been warned. When your KIA craps out on you while you're doing 65 on the highway, remember this message as an "I told you so". But by all means...if unnecessary stress, regret and buyer's remorse is your thing - go ahead and indulge. Go to any KIA owners forum on Facebook and you'll see more videos of people trying to diagnose problems with their KIA then actually enjoying ownership. I mean....think about it. When is the last time you ever heard someone say, "My KIA or Hyundai is SO reliable?" Pretty much NEVER. How many times have you heard this said about Toyota? ALL THE TIME. Even my brother-in-laws Sonata croaked at 82k miles. You don't hear slime balls like Bobby Fucillo on the radio selling Toyota's. Giving away free cruises or TVs with the purchase of a vehicle. That is because Toyota doesn't have to resort to these types of tactics. The quality sells itself. I'm helping my girlfriend initiate a class-action lawsuit for this stupid, useless, faulty AFAIK CVVT system they installed on these cars, similar to the class-action lawsuit that Nissan has already failed to get dismissed. Certifiedtransmissionrepair.com even says these things are more trouble than they're worth. Also submitting a formal complaint with the NHTSA to see if I can get a recall going and plan to reach out to a few lemon law attorneys. I wouldn't be surprised if KIA already knows about this problem, but not voluntarily doing anything about it until the government forces them to do a recall, because they have already too many previous recalls to deal with. Recall, after recall, after recall. Even the front page of their website has a "Recall" tab LMFAO!!! Seriously, if they ever do a re-boot of the movie Total Recall, KIA should be the official sponsor. And speaking of websites, the Crown KIA website only posts positive reviews and filters out the bad. Talk about lack of transparency!! Sad. All smoke and mirrors. Well, for now, I guess I'll be off to every other social media platform I can possibly think of, to rip this brand as much as possible, so the masses can be aware and avoid it. Then to the nearest Toyota dealership to get a Highlander to replace this trash ass Sorrento. If anyone out there decides to dodge a bullet by not buying a KIA because of this advice - you're welcome. P.S. Three of my local Kia dealers came up with the prices of comparable cars in my search criteria. Crown Kia was the lowest price and the only silver van in stock. Then I was contacted by Will Kattaria, a Sales Rep there, who wanted to get more info from me, The next day, I called Will and told him I was on my way to talk with him. I purchased my 2012 Kia Optima at Crown Kia (St. Pete) 2 years ago and after getting it detailed today- I feel like I have a new car! Initially, I ran into quite a few issues scheduling a detailing appointment that I thought was included in a protection plan I had purchased. I had it detailed last year without a problem so I was really confused as to why this year it was suddenly an issue. After explaining this to the Service Manager, they not only apologized and detailed my car - but they ensured they would stick to their word and continue the service for the length of the plan. Took it back to dealer and manager did not do anything to help resolve it other than try to add an additional 6,000 debt for another vehicle. I I would strongly suggest trying IFS carloans.com as opposed to going through Crown Kia. I attempted to get information on a lease purchase through Crown. First of all I was told that they could get me between 5 and 6% interest rate on my car loan, next thing I know they came out with a 7.18 and stated it was because of my FICA information. As I stated in the previous Yelp my FICO score was 731. They were also going to hit me up for another $899 for vehicle prep etc not really sure what it was for..... I was able to get the lease loan through IFScar loans.COM at 6.2% with no vehicle prep OR UNEXPLAINED additional charges. My payments will be appx 30 a month less than Crowns.b I really think it's too bad when car dealerships turns people off. I will not trust Crown Kia and I will never do business with them in the future! I would strongly suggest you check out other avenues if you are going to purchase a leased car. read more

I got my Optima from another dealership in the area, but live closest to Crown Kia. Naturally, when the time came for the first service, I chose Crown because of the proximity to me. Scheduling an appointment for my oil change was very easy, as I had an unexpected day off and booked my service, got in, and got the car started within 45 minutes (for all of it). I booked online and as soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by Julian Bitar. He was warm, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. I purchased a service package from the other dealership but it wasn't quite the same as the one offered by Crown. Julian immediately got on the horn to make sure that everything was taken care of up front and had everything he needed within about 10 minutes. He then personally walked me over to the waiting area and offered me fresh coffee and refreshments. The dealership had complimentary wi-fi that was easy to log on to and ran quickly once connected. The waiting area was comfortable and had a television as well as a desk type workspace for those who had laptops and might have needed a little workspace. About halfway through my service, Julian checked back in with me to make sure I was comfortable and also to update me on where they were at with everything. Once everything was done, checkout was easy peasey lemon squeezy. All in all it was a GREAT experience! I will DEFINITELY be a customer for life. read more

I would have to agree with the previous review. Our salesman was phenomenal (Dan Ullian) but the finance guy we worked with at the end was shady. He tried to push extraneous costs to us, lied about our finance rate, then couldn't answer why we had to pay for gap insurance for 72 months when our financing was only for 60 months! He started stuttering about "that's just what most people do." It was crazy. Nevertheless, we bought our car there because of the great price that they did honor (no bait and switch) and I'll definitely deal with Dan again. Wonderful salesman. I'm new to the area and was driving my 2018 Kia Sportage when I came to a stop light and my engine shut off randomly. I got my car to turn back on but I drove it to crown kia right away where Dominick took care of me. He pulled my car around to get looked at by a mechanic who didn't see any immediate red flag for an engine issue. I then drove my car home with an appointment for Monday, however I really needed a car to get around for the weekend. I called Dominick back and left him a message asking for a referral to a nearby car rental service, he called me back almost immediately telling me I could bring my car back in and they would lend me a courtesy car for the weekend since I didn't feel safe driving my car around. Wow! What service. Im not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars so was pretty grateful I could leave my car for the weekend to get looked out without the inconvenience of being carless. I am glad our vehicle purchase here is done. I am currently deployed and my wife was looking for a new car. I called crown kia from overseas to confirm the availability of a certified pre owned kia on their website. Our salesman was Chris Jensen. I talked to him on the phone and expressed our interest in the Kia Sorento and explained our situation with me being deployed. I told him that we lived over 3 hours away and I wanted to make sure we were close on a deal before she drove all the way up there. He told me what we could get for our trade. We were about $1,000 different on what we wanted to be at. He then reassured me that the $1,000 was just a number and he was absolutely sure we could work a deal and make us happy. So my wife and mother in law drove up there and loved the car. Then it was time to deal. Again, we had already talked on the phone and he assured me that the $1,000 difference was flexible. So my wife calls me and tells me that they wont work on that number at all. Long story short, I said lets just split the difference. Not a chance. They wouldn't budge off the difference. My wife calls me later and tells me that Chris was mocking me saying "I was a horrible deal maker" and that "I have no clue how to make a deal" and also that "He is nickel and diming me to death" I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful he was. If my wife didn't like the car so much, I would have told her to leave. Not to mention when they were signing the papers, the finance rep told my wife she was ridiculous for not purchasing the extended warranty and GAP insurance. Which we already had GAP coverage when we applied for the loan. They just paid off our trade. It took over 12 days for them to pay it off. Sure did cash our down payment fast though. It also took over 3 hours to sign papers and leave the dealership. What a joke. I am very disappointed in this dealership and would not recommend trying to work a deal with them. Crown Kia has been nothing but good to me. When my beloved Jeep decided to give up on me we went in and met with James Purcell who was a pleasure to work with. He really listened to what I needed and that I didn't have a lot of money to work with at the time. I ended up leaving with a great lease on a Soul and have been so happy with it. I own a 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid that has under 100K miles and the engine seized even though I had regular maintenance. Now the car is completely useless as I refuse to pay over $7,000 to have it fixed. Took it to Crown Kia in St. Petersburg FL last year for what turned out to be several electrical problems. It actually started with them requiring me to do a detailed 'system check' for almost $300 and they called for me to authorize a fuze to be replaced claiming that would fix the issue. They replaced the fuse and then kept calling me saying there was other problems they found... several thousand later I had my car back. Last week the car died on the expressway with the dashboard reading 'Hybrid System Warning...' reluctantly I took it back to Crown Kia and again they said it would be fixed after the required 'system check' showed a blown fuse/switch. They called after replacing the fuse/switch and said my engine was seized and I needed a new engine! Very disappointed in Crown Kia of St. Petersburg. read more

We have a 2011 Kia Sportage. We like the car very much. We had an excellent salesman. However, when it came to picking up the car, WATCH OUT for the Finance Guy. Make sure you get the interest rate quoted if financing through them. Also, read every word because he has added every possilbe extra. We eliminated many unnecessary items that would have increasd our monthly payment significantly. When we complained to the Manager, we found out he is the one that drives the process and didn't care for him at all. We sent friends to this dealership and the same happened to them. I went to this dealer for service on one occasion only and I will never go there again. I was having transmission problems and the service adviser said I needed a new transmission. I asked for details about what is specifically wrong with my transmission. His answer, "it's smoked." The cost was going to be thousands. I was not happy. I took the car to JC Auto who I highly recommend. The transmission was fine. It was something else and the repair was a couple of hundred dollars, not thousands. This one experience turned me off to Crown forever. Yes, it may have been just two employees (the technician and the adviser), but I think it might be indicative of how they do business. I leased a new, 2016 Kia Soul. The EPA mileage estimate on the sticker was 24 City, 31 Highway. The City mileage is about 21 mpg and the highway is about 24 mpg, from this little car! I heard every ridiculous excuse from the Dealership, then Kia Consumer Affairs. Why drive a tiny vehicle like this when you could drive a mid-sized, or larger vehicle, and get the same mileage? Kia continues their history of misrepresenting the fuel mileage of their vehicles, steer clear of the Kia Soul and Crown Kia. read more

I am not a fan of Crown Kia. I purchased a car from them and 3 months later the battery died. I called to ask them for help to replace the battery. They were rude on the phone telling me it was not their issue. VERY RUDE. I was actually warned by someone not to deal with Crown but I didn't listen. If you want a KIA, I do like my car but look somewhere else. They are good to you when buying but after you sign the contract, screw you. Not a good dealership. While in the process of buying it was interesting to see how lax they are with the sales floor. I walked to the sales floor with my title info to transfer to them after getting the title situation fixed. After numerous calls to try to get info from them I decided to just do what I thought I should do...I am not in the car business so didn't know. I walked in with the corrected title to see the sales people all sitting at the front desk eating and having a good ole conversation full of profanity. I was turned off by that but I had already purchased a car. I didn't think I would be dealing with them or at least so soon. It was the second time I heard profanity on the sales floor coming from their team. I am not that worried about such things on a normal bases but there is a time an place for everything and a professional sales floor is not the place to drop the F-bomb. Anyway, these are my thoughts and experiences.
