    Thalassery Fish Curry

Very nice south indian restaurant with an expanded set of options. Been to multiple south indian spots in hicksville but this spot will be added to my rotation! Got the medu vadas to start. These were standard though I wish the coconut chutney was less watery and more concentrated. They also burned the mustard seeds so it was more bitter than usual. Sambar was really hearty and had eggplant chunks which was a nice addition. I tried the seeraga samaba goat biryani which is one of their specialities. While the flavors were great, I am really picky about my biryani rice and thus texture was not ideal. All the rice broke and did not hold its shape. I probably would not order biryani here again. I also tried the thalaserry fish curry. It was delicious, surprisingly not too coconut forward and well spiced. Came with a side of white rice too. It was a bit oilier but didn't make me feel overly bloated. My friend ordered the nool paratha which was a bit too tough and fried - would probably opt for a regular paratha instead. Service was attentive but a bit chaotic. They took orders for our appetizer but not mains and asked to take menus away. I think they will work out the kinks as they develop but everyone was very kind. Will be back for the fish!

Wow! This place checks all the boxes for the best Indian restaurant in town!…read more Atithi is a family-owned, pure vegetarian spot offering delicious dishes with a creative twist. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and willing to offer recommendations when needed. The best part is that the menu has very detailed descriptions of each item so even if you're not super familiar with this cuisine, you'll know how to order. My husband and I started with samosas which were the best I've ever had! If you're a fan, please go and try this and let me know if I'm being hyperbolic, but they were insanely good! I had the Aloo Gobi Masala which was out of this world. The flavors were well balanced and tasty. My husband had the veg biryani. The portions were plenty and the ingredients super fresh! We're so excited to have found a great purely vegetarian Indian restaurant so close to home. We will absolutely be back!
