Cute area for outdoor dining and the doors to inside are open so if you're concerned about ventilation, don't be. They also have a free water station. Very cute brunch location. They have tables both inside and out, and the decor is cute and trendy. Our favorite dish was the Madeira Mushroom Melt - the mushrooms were marinated and the flavor was wonderful. On the recommendation of many fellow Yelpers, we had the quinoa scramble, which was also very good. The Eggs Newport was on their brunch menu, which had poached eggs on crab cakes. I wasn't too crazy about the hash that it came with - a bit too strong on the BBQ flavor for me. The service was reasonably quick, considering their size, and very friendly. I had the shrimp Po-Boy yesterday. Everything was perfection. That is absolutely, extremely, rare. (I found out after I already stopped in that it's BYOB. Had I known, I would've been prepared.) The bread the Po-Boy was in was not a big hunk of chewy bread, no! It was a crispy light fluffy airy roll that melted when I bit into it. I don't know how they managed that. Then there was a layer of very fresh green leaf lettuce, then there was the remoulade, a delicate yet spicy layer, then there were the numerous fluffy, perfectly done, lightly battered, crispy, flavorful shrimp. Then there were bright red, halved, cherry tomatoes, perfectly ripe. There's no way I could have known to expect this, visually, from the outside, until I later saw who the owner was from the take-out menu, and then of course I knew why it was so well done; a Morin brother. For such a casual venue, how was I to know? I have done nothing but rave to various friends, and now have a new favorite place. All of the pastries looked just lovely. Overall a five star with the exception of their avocado toast. Service was amazing everyone was nice and friendly. It was busy inside but line was short and fast! The outside is so pretty I definitely recommend eating outside in the right weather. The bathroom was pretty big and clean as well. We got the crusty crab burger and avocado toast. Crusty crab burger was the perfect portion/size and the crab part tasted great as did the asian coleslaw (and so did the sauce). Avocado toast on the other hand was a letdown. To be fair I didn't order it with tomatoes and eggs (because I don't like tomatoes), but the toast/bread used wasn't the greatest and too thin imo. The avocado tasted great though. Can't comment on the cappuccino since I didn't drink it but I'm guessing it was average tasting. Would definitely come back here and try other things on the menu if I'm ever in Newport again! read more

My son and I came in from Ct to see the auto museum and were famished. We found CRU quiet by accident as it is right around the corner. So we took a chance and boy are we glad we did. The staff were delightful, pleasant and accommodating in every way. The food was delicious and came out quickly. My son had The Twisted Reuben which he thoroughly enjoyed. We are from out of town, visiting Newport for a few days. The Cru Cafe is a cute and yummy place. It was a little crowded, but i guess that shows how good it is. Cru Cafe was hopping at 10am on a Monday so we came back for a 3pm lunch after kayaking. The food and service were great. We had the Charleston chicken biscuits and gravy ($11.95), Next Level avocado toast with chili sauce ($8.00 - it's sweet not spicy, FYI), and the Fancy tots ($3.55 for a small). TL;DR: delicious food, great and friendly service, doggo friendly, so good that we came back again Me and three others went to RI for a mini getaway and I was tasked with finding a brunch spot. Glad to say I pass with flying colors as you get everything here: delicious food, great friendly service and the wait wasn't too bad. We first came on Sunday for brunch and got Not Your Average BLT (they're right - BLT with a twist), Avocado toast with tomato and a fried egg (the avocado has a nice spicy kick to it - not a crazy kick in the face but a nice punch), Eggs Newport (by far our favorite - basically a crab cake and egg Benedict had a baby together), and Charleston chicken and biscuits (great crisp on the fried chicken and a delicious biscuit). Everything was just delicious. On our last day, we wanted to grab food before heading back so we went to what we knew and love. It was a Monday so there was no brunch but we were still able to grab the stuffed French Toast (so good - cream cheese and jelly stuffed inside a French Toast. Simple yet delicious), the not so average BLT and avocado toast again, and the casino. Pro Tip: stand on line and order inside and then you can grab a seat outside. It was busy but no one was hogging the seats and left when they were done so we didn't have to wait for a seat. We found a seat and then they came out with our food.
