Great neighborhood bar and restaurant with well prepared food. They have another location in Genoa that we also have patronized. Nothing here is gourmet or pretentious but everything we have had was well prepared and reasonably priced. Both locations are very well run with tasty food and good service. My wife and I went to the Gilberts location for Friday fish fry. It was very tasty and satisfying. The place was packed with a 20 minute wait at 6pm. They have plenty of staff and they all hustled. Tables were cleared and turned over very quickly, always the indicator of a well run restaurant. We both had combination plates of battered and fried Walleye, Haddock, cod and shrimp. We enjoyed our meal. The place was filled with families and groups of friends eating and talking over a good meal. It is quite loud and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Extensive draft beer selection and active bar scene. We highly recommend this place as well as the Genoa location. Both are neighborhood assets. read more

Be weary of this COVID lax retaurant! We headed here on Saturday on the recommendation of my dad and his friend. The dining room was full and we decided to eat at the bar. Folks at both ends (a group of three and single guy) so we sat in the middle. Good social distancing for everyone. We were happy everyone was masked. We ordered drinks and then food. As we waited for food a group entered the bar area. It appeared to be a family with an elderly grandma and a dad about in his fifties. None of them were masked nor did it appear that they even had them. Within 10 minutes about 6-10 people came in and joined their group. These folks were in their twenties and thirties and there was a baby. Again NONE of them were masked. The group filled 2/3 of the bar area and there was no social distancing including for us since they were right behind us. The fifty year old guy and a few others interacted with staff (bartender, server, host etc) calling each other by name etc. At NO Time were they asked to wear a mask or leave even after we said something to the bartender. We got our food and quickly left as to limit our exposure to the irresponsible. Food was decent. read more

My family and I have been coming here every Tuesday for a long time now as the Corned Beef is very good and the Split pea soup is just like grandma used to make. We have especially enjoyed our waiter Jamie as he always makes us feel welcome and important so we were very sad to hear that he is no longer there, and although the food is very tatsy we would prefer go where people make us feel at home. Sadly this is not how we felt this past Tuesday, it was exactly the opposit. We felt as if we were being rushed and we were not very happy about that at all. Looks like it's time to find another place for the family to eat. We must have driven by this place at least 100 times over the years on our way to the Quad Cities to visit family. I would make a casual comment to my husband that I wondered what the place was like, but never gave it more more thought than that. Last night our friends took us there (Phil C. from an earlier review). They raved that it wasn't fancy, but that the food was "to die for!" Well if I had a buck for every time I've heard that, I'd be a rich woman indeed. When we walked in, it immediately looked like something you would see on the Food Network show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," which believe me is a good thing!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting with decor nostalgic of days gone by. The staff are even more warm and inviting...in one word passionate. They have incredible food and they want you to know it! Jamie, who served us, fairly gushed about the specials, 2 of which included steak...steak... served at what first glance would appear a place that only served burgers and beer. He'll even pull out his phone to show you pictures of the steaks! That's a first for me! Did I mention burgers? I can safely say that my burger was THE BEST I have ever had! I ordered it medium and it came medium. That never happens at a restaurant. They always over cook it, just in case. The burgers are ground in-house and hand formed and boy can you tell! To finish off an already great meal, we had apple pie cheesecake for dessert. We ordered 1 piece for 4 people because we were all so full, but I wish I could have had the whole piece to myself! It was a Sunday afternoon and my parents asked if I wanted to go out to lunch....I mean how can I say no to free food and they were letting me pick any place I wanted!! I chcked my list of places I wanted to try and decided to give Cruisin's a try, its less then 5 minutes away from my house and I've only been in there really quick for a beer but never had thier food. I wished I had the first time, it was amazing!!! It was empty in the dining area, and the bartender was also our waiter and he was always checking on us seeing if we needed anything. That was so awesome because he also had to make drinks for the people at the bar. We started with the nachos, which were very good. I mean its not every place where you have cheese left over and no chips!! I ordered a beer and my mom ordered a mai tai, best mai tai I've ever tasted!!!For Lunch I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and waffle fries(at an extra dollar) and sooooo worth it!! they were seasoned and crispy and just all around yummy. The chicken had good flavor and a huge piece. My dad got the BBQ special, for $14.99 he got half a slab of ribs, 2 pieces of chicken, and a pulled pork sandwich....Wholey food!!! The ribs fell right off the bone and the BBQ sauce was really good. The pulled pork melted in your mouth and the chicken was very juicey and full of flavor. My mom got the mushroom chicken sandwich which was also very good!! The menu is huge and I had a hard time deciding on what to order, so I will be back for sure to try all the other options!! read more

4 stars for the ambiance & wait staff; the food I'd only give 3 stars. First time here on a Friday night. When people say this place is packed, they aren't kidding. It was only 5 PM and the place was filled. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. The seating area is smaller than I thought it'd be, since half the restaurant is a bar. While we were waiting, the host (owner? manager?) chatted us up, joked with us, and gave us menus to look at since he overheard we were newbies. Really nice guy. We finally got seated and were greeted soon after by our waitress, who took our drink order. She was a great waitress - attentive and personable. She forgot my husband's soup that came with his fish fry, but no biggie - we reminded her and she brought it out ASAP and apologized. We totally understood since she was so busy. The food was just "meh". I can't eat gluten, so there really wasn't anything on the menu I could eat except nachos. Fake cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, chicken, jalapenos. Husband had the walleye fish fry. He said the fish was good, but very greasy. I could see the grease all over his plate. Son had the BBQ bacon burger which he said was really good, but we were surprised that it didn't come with any condiments - no lettuce, onion, tomato. Not even on the side. Son said fries weren't very good. Good beer selection; red wine was perfect temperature (not too chilled). Fun decor; clean restaurant; pool table in back past the bar - played a few games. I've had chicken wraps, wings, burgers, hearty country meals and well-mixed drinks plus a great selection of beers. Lots of tv's to go around, game area and excellent music whether the juke box is on or not. Great people own this place and if you like the kind of bar that's genuine with great prices and interesting people, this is definitely the place for you. There are specials for nearly every day of the week and tomorrow, since it's Friday, we're trying the Fish Fry and it's Walleye or Catfish unlimited (beer battered) and there is a selection of additional fish dinners as well. Tuesdays is Mexican food (tacos, chimichangas, burritos). Wednesdays is 1/2 Price Food from 3-10pm. Thursdays is hearty country dinners for $6.99. I had the country ham dinner and mashed potatoes last time. It was delicious and the serving was huge. For $7 it was just awesome. There are daily drink specials also. My daughter and her family bought a house in Gilbert's last year. My husband and I have been to Cruisin twice since then. I came here on a PACKED Friday night as I was passing through. I'm really glad I stopped. Immediately upon entering you realize that the wait staff here genuinely wants you to enjoy your time there. A tall friendly man who I assume is either the manager or owner sat us down and was personable and charming. That being said the food is phenomenal. Regular diner fair does not do this place justice-- I would recommend Rodeo Fries to anyone for an appetizer. The BBQ pork and sauce were amazing and I wish I had asked for a bottle of it. The burgers were great and super big. My only complaint is the fries were underseasoned and a little bland. If I'm ever in the area again I'll try to come on their Thursday BBQ night. read more
