I had read about Crumbs sometime ago but never had an opportunity to try it. A trip to Fall River Mills and surrounds to explore flyfishing spots gave us that chance. I tried to convince my wife to make a reservation but she insisted it wouldn't be a problem so I planned to be there when their doors opened at 5pm. They seated us immediately but my wife soon found out that I had been correct. The only reason our table for two was open was the couple that reserved it had a reservation for 6:30. It didn't take long to find out why it is so popular. We ordered the Dinosaur Egg appetizer, a breaded flash fried half of avocado stuffed with ahi and drizzled with the best spicy sauce. The avocado melted in our mouths. It was yummy. We both selected the Bisket that was shredded and served with veggies done to perfection over a bed of fried white rice and drizzled with a Chipotle Aiole. It was the best brisket I have ever had. The portion was more than enough and my wife took part of her's home. I am really glad we decided to go early because the small restaurant was packed by the time we got our main course. If you are going to try it, which I highly recommend, make a reservation. Only negatives I noticed was the lack of local beers on tap which was odd since Fall River Brewery used to be close by and there was a very small wine section. On my last fishing trip to Fall River Mills our guide recommended this "new" place fir dinner. It was outstanding, this area doesn't have much to offer in choices to Crumbs is a great addition. We had dinner, service was very good and friendly. And the food was great, a bone in pork chop was the hit at out table. The stuffed Tri Tip was also very good, and the Wild Rice Cake served along was very enjoyable. The area around Fall River Mills is a agriculturally based area and one if it's crops is wild rice. Have been waiting to try this restaurant since last time in McArthur for my birthday last year and made a reservation and went last night. I ordered the grilled shrimp and it was wonderful and I loved the grilled sushi rice! The staff were very attentive and friendly and had a view of Travis chef/owner who was amazing. We're able to eat here a few times a year while visiting family. We always ask to be seated at the Chef's Table, a bar at arm's length from Chef Travis in his grill room. He loves to engage with his guests and he is never too busy to maintain the flow of the orders and meet newcomers, or catch up with friends. Tonight we enjoyed the wedge salad with the slooooooow roasted brisket, and was that ever tasty! Plenty of meat in that serving! Husband was head over heels for the Sushi Stacker, an impressive vertical presentation of seafood. He continued his indulgence with the warm shrimp salad, and finished with the classic Grandma Bird dessert - ice cream and coffee. In addition to an enjoyable conversation with Chef Travis, he demonstrated a coconut oil based latte that is healthy, filling, and as frothy as any latte can be. Conflicted here. We arrived 20 minutes prior to opening, having never been here or heard of it, but got the referral of a local who's a friend. Asked the waitress if they opened right at 5, she said yes, asked if we could just come in early and get a table, said nope, and locked the door again. Ok, whatever. Not a big deal. So called from out front, and made a reservation for 5pm, got it, but was told we would need to be done by 6:30. Once again, not a biggie, 90 minutes for a party of 2. So we go in, second couple in the door right at 5pm on the dot. The young man at the door is the other wait staff. Very pleasant, but very inexperienced. We get seated and the lady I dealt with earlier is helping the other couple beside us, we have the young man. The other couple orders, the young man gives us a minute to look over the menu, then forgets us. Come back at 5:10 and apologizes for it. Ok, not a huge deal again, we order an appetizer and two entrees, a burger, and the brisket with a house salad. We wait another 10 minutes for a soda, (glad I stuck with the water) and then wait another 15 for the 51/50 dinosaur egg. We don't see a sign of the waiter at all during this window. Then at about 5:45 my salad comes out. At 5:55 my wife's burger comes out with me being told my brisket would come out when it was done. I ordered it 40 minutes ago... second couple in the door. The first couple have their food, as do numerous guests who came in after us. My brisket comes out right about 6:00. We ask for a refill on soda. Never got it. Saw our waiter 3 times in 90 minutes. Left almost right at 6:30 on the dot. The place was half full the entire time. Not slammed, but also not slow. The lady was much more efficient waiting the other tables. Luck of the draw I suppose. But she wasn't friendly at all. So no huge loss. My conflicting thoughts here... the food was amazing. The 51/50 dinosaur egg was delicious, the brisket was mind blowing, and my wife loved the bacon bleu burger. Had the service been halfway decent, would have been 5 stars. The food is 6 stars. Service was pathetic. The chef is a stud and I'd risk the crap service to eat his fare again. Hoping the service is better next time. Must have a reservation I would say. It's worth the gamble due to the wonderful food. read more

Let me just say that this was probably the best meal I have ever had in all my 48 years. Every thing was perfect, from the croquette appetizer to the wedge salad with amazing ranch dressing to the blackened ahi. If this place was located in a major town, there would be a line out the door. I wish I lived closer, because I would be here all the time. I lived near McArthur for only about 1 month but I went to Crumbs at least 3 times. Not exaggerating one bit, Crumbs has some of the best food I've ever had. I'll be completely honest, my expectations were low considering there aren't that many food options in McArthur. But I was so pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is absolutely adorable. It's incredibly cute both on the outside and inside. The service and environment is excellent. The food itself is absolutely delicious. Next time I am driving through northern CA I will definitely take a detour to go to Crumbs. A must go. read more

This place is incredible! I have been only 3 times because it's an hour from my home. If it was closer I would probably go weekly. The brisket is the best that I have ever had. It's brisket with a culinary flare. It's not heavy or Smokey, instead light and favorable. They offer sushi but I have not tried. The homemade desserts are amazing. One trip we had a bourbon chocolate banana bread pudding with hand made whipping cream, each time we have gone back I have hoped to catch that special again, still hoping. You need reservations, we tried once to get in without and all they had were late times. If you are passing through McArthur/Fall River it's worth the stop! read more

I love Crumbs. I tell everyone who visits our little rural area that they will be blown away by the dynamic menu and delicious flavors tucked away next to a Saloon in the tiny town of McArthur, CA. This little gem is home to the "adult tater tot" which should not be missed. Suffice it to say, if I had to order a last meal the adult tater tot would be my appetizer. Also, since I try to keep to a plant-based diet (when I'm not cheating with the tater tot) I was pleased to see a vegan option last time I visited. Delicious vegan stir-fry with the chef's signature sweet chili sauce (you'll see it in a lot of his dishes). Make sure you check to make sure this place is open as their hours vary with season but if you can make it to Crumbs, don't miss out! You'll be glad you made the trip! read more

Can you say Tuna Tataki? I couldn't either until I learned about it last night by ordering it from the Gabroni and team at Crumbs. I was so impressed I knew after one bite I owed Crumbs a review and a thank you. This tuna was not the traditional portion tuna you'd expect for $17.95, they were straight up tuna steaks!!! Packed with flavor, seared with a torch and combined with some very tasty sauce and sushi rice. To say we're lucky to have a sushi master living in the NE corner of the state is an understatement. WE LOVE CRUMBS! PS. My lady got the Brontosaurus Chicken entree again and loved it but this time she was emphatic about the kale being so tasty, so emphatic that she insisted I try it, so I did and we're in agreement, best cook in all the land is right here in our backyard! I had the worst customer service ever in there. The host was so rude, mean, and judgmental. I went through the door & had to wait 7 min till she showed up. She asked me how many people with me. I said I'm alone. Then rudely said there are no tables available for you now unless you want to wait for an hour. I told her that the majority of the tables are empty then she said they are reserved till we closed. I asked her whether they do accept reservation to plane my visit next time, she said only today & thank you for your visit. I will never go again & spend my money there. They need to learn how to treat customers right & hire the right person to do the job & not just a family member to insult the customers. read more

Having recently moved to the beautiful Fall River valley from a large city, I thought I'd have to lower my expectations when it came to fine dining. I was wrong. Crumbs is an absolute gem: friendly and responsive service, nice ambiance, and exceptionally well prepared food. The wine list, while not extensive, offered some very good options. All courses exceeded our expectations: the appetizers - a deep fried dough pouch filled with crab meat were served with a wonderful housemade sweet chili sauce. The salad was sprinkled with fresh bacon pieces and, again, a housemade dressing. And my main course was a linguini with mussels and shrimp which was as good as any pasta dish I've had in Italy or San Francisco's North Beach. I look forward to becoming a regular for dinner there! read more

I have been traveling to the Burney Basin for the past twenty years..There has never been a restaurant in the area that was worth the effort to eat at. they all were and are mediocre at best . Last year on one of my fishing trips to Fall River, I decided that we should try this new place out called Crumbs. I had heard from other fisherman that is was pretty good. The food was really outstanding. and the service was as good as the food. The wine list was somewhat limited. but heck you in the Fall River Valley, not Napa or Sonoma.. The chief is creative and has a refined palate. IMHO. This place is a great find, It is about time that someone took a chance and opened up a restaurant in this area. It proves that a good chief can be successful anywhere. I hope they have continued success. read more

This review is for Crumbs Grill at the Fall River Valley Golf Course. I drove into McArthur at lunchtime and was informed that the restaurant was now only open for dinner but to go to the Golf Course if I was interested in lunch. While the wait staff was very friendly and the menu small but appetizing, I found that my brisket melt was soggy, fatty and greasy. The sweet potato fries where deep fried, obviously store bought frozen and soggy as well. The lunch was on par with a greasy spoon roadside burger shack sorry to say. Worst yet, within 15 minutes after I finished my meal I became ill. Trouble was, I was 90 minutes away from my home. I was nauseous the whole way back. Now I would have loved to have come back and had some sushi at the main restaurant, but now I am questioning the cleanliness of the operation. I do not become ill very easily so it became clear as I had time to ponder the situation that the food served to me must have been of sub par quality. Had I lived any closer I would have returned and asked for my money back. My hope is that the owner/chef does not actually cook at the Grill location and that lunch was the fault of the line cook but I am not going to take my chances. Sorry Crumbs. read more

My sister and I happened upon Crumbs after a day of shopping and was so hungry when we were looking for a place in Danville to have lunch. We decided to try this place because after driving into another parking lot and couldn't find a parking space and boy were we ever happy we did. We were served by the waiter, Freddy, who was the best waiter I have EVER had. He was very knowledgeable about the restaurant and all of the food and drinks. He entertained us with his great sense of humor while serving us our food we ordered and then some. I had the impossible burger and my sister has the waffles and chicken. The food was the best I had had in a long time. If you are looking for a great place to eat and worth the money, you have gotta try this spot and be sure to ask for Freddy and the Bloody Mary's. read more

Like others have said this place is out in the middle of not much! But they can do some really good food. Came here with a group of about 10 and all were very pleasantly fed greeted by the staff. Helps that one of the guys was there just the night prior for an anniversary, so that should say something about the quality too! The majority of us got the Killer-Rito, and yeah it can kill you as in put you in an amazing space of fullness and sleepiness. I highly suggest this place if you are in the area and looking for some good eats. read more

A bit out of place in the Fall River Valley but greatly welcomed. Coming from the bay area to Northern California it is nice to find something other than a basic diner or chain restaurant. The decor is clean, fresh and understated. The manager is friendly, enthusiastic and very personable. We started our meal with fresh, warm bread with an oil and balsamic dipping sauce. Warm bread, delightfully chewy. Our appetizer was a crab sushi roll with miso and it was perfect. The purple asparagus that accompanied it was cooked tender crisp, and teased the appetite for more. The salad with bleu cheese dressing and bleu cheese crumbles was the real deal, the bleu cheese obviously fresh and likely local. The iceberg wedge was crisp, fresh and delightful. Our waiter, who was also the manager, was attentive with offering us more water and bread and clearing our plates so the three of us were never crowded. I choose chicken with a sweet pepper salsa, wasabi mashes potato and spring veggies. The chicken was moist, flavorful and cooked to perfection, the potato an inspired creation and the veggies were given the same care as the rest of the meal. The salmon my brother chose was blackened and in a coffee enhanced marinade. The bite I had was superb. My sister in law chose the chicken also, and said that every time they have eaten here, the meal was wonderful, every dish they have tried was outstanding. We topped off the evening with Bananas Foster and coffee. The ice cream for the Foster had flecks of vanilla seed throughout, and tasted like the ice cream from my youth. The bananas were firm sweet and warm. The coffee was flavorful, balanced and perfect with the dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and would love to eat here again when I return to visit my family. read more

Tried Crumbs on a recommendation and was not disappointed in the least. Ordered the Ahi tuna blackened with rice, this was as good or better than any I've eaten before. My wife had the ribeye steak special that was cooked to perfection. Wedge salad that was fresh and ice cold. Shared the warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. The service was friendly, courteous and only added to the overall wonderful experience. It was well worth the drive from Mt. Shasta to MacArthur for this wonderful meal. read more
