This is such charming little store. They have a huge selection, considering their size. The staff is knowledgeable (nerdy, in a good way) and friendly. I'm really glad this store exists in Castro Valley.

Lots of supplies, card game stuff, wall books etc near the front register

Crush is a fantastic comic shop. One of the friendliest shops I've ever frequented in my decades of going to comic shops. For anyone who's been to a few, you know some owners who can be unwelcoming or unfriendly or insular. It's the exact opposite at Crush. Josh and Andrea and everyone who works there (I used to see Cole all the time and now I run into Tyler too) is immediately welcoming and easygoing. Their positive attitude and inclusive atmosphere reflects in who shops there too. I've seen every kind of fan shop here and it makes me happy to see. They have a great selection of new books every Wednesday, a huge stock of graphic novels, single issues, and wall books. They just started carrying Games Workshop / Warhammer 40k / Age of Sigmar stuff too! Really excited to be able to pick up comics and hobby stuff in the same trip now. I picked up the new 9th ed Core book and there was a line to get Indomitus before the store opened today. If you're looking for a box, give them a call though- they might still have some. Super safe, super friendly store. Check em out!

The perfect comic they pointed me to

Visited yesterday and had a fantastic experience. They had a large number of old trades in stock, which was perfect since that's exactly what I was in the mood to pick up. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to get and the employees there were super helpful in talking about my taste in comics and what I've already read and pointing me in the right direction. To top it off, I was very impressed with their setup as far as Covid precautions. They greeted me with hand sanitizer at the door, their aisles were moved far apart enough to allow for lots of space, and there were very clear markings on the floor to keep appropriate distance from others. As a customer, it felt great to go to a business that takes our safety seriously. It was a great experience and I left with a new graphic novel that was exactly what I was looking for!

I think I have a love/hate thing going on with this place. This has been my go to comic store since I was 14 and where I got my giant squishable panda too (when they carried them a long time ago). There are rows of comics and the more popular ones displayed in the front. If you ever want some funko pops, there's a giant display with them (a few exclusive ones too!) When I was younger, I didn't notice the customer service much and only cared about the comics and stuff... nowadays, the younger guy at the register is amazing and super helpful but the owner makes me feel like I'm trespassing his store. I'm not a diehard comic fan but I do like my occasional dose of Gambit or Marvel comics (especially with the new tsum tsum covers on them). The owner pretty much only glares unless it's a super frequent diehard customer that he knows well. There are no "hi" or "welcome" from him whatsoever and I'd actually prefer not to go in the store if he's in the front. As for calling/messaging the store, I think personally think it's best to call since they don't seem too active on their Facebook page. Final Thoughts: Aside from the customer service "glare" from the owner, I love this shop to death! I'm sure I'm not the only once since I've seen a mom grab her kid out of the store after getting stared down by the owner.

This is a $85-$125 comic in mint condition, which this was not and I don't have a problem with that. Comic books are meant to be read. Really fun, epic She-Hulk run by John Byrne, Iconic cover. This TPB is out of print and sells for top dollar. Thanks, Comic Shop! What a score. Promethea #29 Written By Alan Moore; Art By J.H. Williams Iii. One of the most beautiful written and beautifully drawn comics of 1999. Smax #5 by Alan Moore. All of these Alan Moore comics on America Best Comics are gems. Alan Moore getting his 2nd wind and having fun with comic books again. Coup D'etat #1 Written By Ed Brubaker; Art By Jim Lee, #2 Written By Micah Ian Wright; Interesting event storyline where The Authority seizes control of the US Government. This TPB is out of print and since Micah Ian Wright was fired by DC and blacklisted from comics for stolen valor everything he's written has stayed out of print. The Authority story with art by Jim Lee that DC will probably never ever reprint in our lifetime. And some FCBD Greatest America Superhero, Superman, ect. Great store and great customer service.

We didn't come up with a close by card store, but there was this comic book store we decided to stop and try. The owner was very very nice. Easy to talk to. He said no, he didn't have anything as far as trading cards go, but he suggested some other places to try. Lots and lots of comics on the shelves, and there were quite a few people inside browsing and chatting with the owner as well.

Besides the free comic book, the owner has booked a Smash Bros truck, a smashed burgers truck. We tried it, and the burgers were good!! We sat in the car to enjoy our lunch, then went back to the store for more bargains. The bookstore has some outside vendors too. I have not seen many back issues with the exception of wall comics. They have a pretty large area of clearance $1 comics on the left side of the store which seem to be 2-3 years old books. I like that these $1 boxes are on tables and my back appreciates that they are easy to sort through. They also have an inventory of collected editions which includes trade paperbacks, hardcovers, omnibus, and compendiums. The owner Kerry has tried to help me find some obscure current comic books a couple times which I appreciate. The staff have all been helpful and easy to work with. I believe they do a significant amount of business in trading card/game card these days, but still have a respectable comic offering.

Awesome if your looking for something specific and I was looking for just that. Thank you so much for this spot for having that separated and allowing a quicker easier ease of access. I was able to build a small hallway of the Disney Rise of the Resistance ride. Epic and memorable. This place is definitely staple for me. Pricing wise, I believe it's 0.25 a brick and 0.50 a long slab. Personally it would be cool if they charged a bulk price for a full cup, that's my only little gripe. But the people here are friendly and will help find anything they can that's within their means.

The person on the…read moreother end said yes, to which I asked if there was anything else needed and they told me the instruction manual, if I had it, which I did. I asked one more question, which I believe was the most important one, is there anything I should do before I come in and they said no. Ultimately I took apart the Lego set, thinking it would be easier for them, plus no one I know would want a Lego set that's already put together. Where's the fun in that? Overnight I took apart the set and bagged everything according to the manuals. I think I did a pretty good job at doing all of that for them. The following day I went in and informed the person at the counter that I had called about trading in a Lego set for cash. I proceeded to show them the bags and manuals for the set. The guy behind the counter gave me a blank stare and looked at the bags and threw out a number. It wasn't a fair price, their reasoning behind it was the set was not put together, and how were they to know if it was the correct set and if all the parts were there. Furthermore, they stated that if I brought it in put together, the cash back would've been a little higher. Still not a fair price. He gave me the bags back and said I could go home put it back together and come back later. I just gave up. I sold it as is. In all honesty, I shouldn't have, but I lost my job prior to this interaction and I needed the money. Honestly, if you have Legos that you're trying to sell, just hold out and sell them on your own. Go to different toy stores, look up local toy groups, or trade events. It's not worth going here.
