I received cake balls as a birthday present at the end of November 2011. They were so delicious that I kept the box it came with the address so that I could go back and get more. My favorite flavor was the lemon cake ball. Yummy! In January I decided to go visit Martha's Candies and bring back some cake balls for my hubby, however, I was disappointed when I saw that it was closed. The sign on the door indicated that were going to be under new management. I really hope it opens soon so I can taste the same yummy lemon cake balls. read more

I just tried a cinnamon roll and bunt cake. Both are amazing and everything I was hoping for when I heard Martha's was selling pastries.

I've been here twice now and both times I have been really happy with the food and the staff. They have a great lunch special for a good price. I also found out today that they have a gluten free cookie and a gluten free poppy lemon loaf cake. Both delicious. I had no bad reaction with them. The place is small but very clean and they do have a nice area right out side their shop you can sit and eat. I will be back and if you're in the area stop in an look at all their goodies. Holy Smokes! This was a pleasant surprise. Haven't found a lot to get excited about in this neck of the woods, but this tiny place, if it were in Los Angeles, would give Sweet Lady Jane, Joan's on Third and SusieCakes a run for their money. First up was a lemon meringue tart. There's nothing that bothers us more than a bakery that serves up any danish or tart with that horrible neon-yellow lemon donut filling inside. None of that nonsense here, this lemon curd is the real deal. And prepare to pucker up....you are about to find out what lemon really tastes like. Sorry but this is a man's tart, ladies should stay away, you gals just won't be able to handle this much lip-smackin pucker. Next up a blueberry muffin. A REAL blueberry muffin. No cake mix. In fact if Starbucks has been your only blueberry muffin experience, you might just be shocked to find out what a blueberry muffin actually tastes like. (A muffin is not a cupcake, though these days, a lot of bakeries apparently think so.) A muffin is more like a big baked sweet crusty pancake. And chock full of blueberries. This is the muffin you'd expect to enjoy at an oceanside café in Maine, not in the middle of Glendora village. Warm it up a bit in the toaster oven. Yum. There were peach-corn muffins here too, and big chewy cookies with crispy edges, and scones, and strawberry cream cheese danish. And even at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, everything was fresh and attractive. Got a boxful of goodies, made our way out the door.......and just as we were leaving, it happened. We spotted it, on a bottom shelf trying to hide from us. A showpiece. A great big freshly baked Apple Pie, with a sign on it...."$3 a slice". We did a 360 and returned for a slice of that bad boy. It had a perfect crust and a nice top crumble. This is the pie that moms used to make back in the olden days, back before they decided that afternoons were for the facebook. (Okay, okay, dads too). And my pet peeve is a undercooked bottom crust, nobody gets 5 stars from me if they serve up an underbaked bottom dough. None of that here, perfectly browned and crispy, thin but just enough to hold the rich caramel-cinnamon apples that sat upon it. The crust was so good that we wished the pie had a top crust too, instead of the crumble. Along with Some Crust in Claremont and Miracle Bakery in northwest Burbank, this little gem now has a permanent place on our destination-bakery rotation. Come on Glendora, put down those donuts for a minute and head to the village for some crumble and some crust. You won't be disappointed. read more

I don't understand the hype around this place. The danishes were not fresh and grocery store ice cream tastes better than the cherry chocolate ice cream I bought here. The prices are ridiculous for the quality. The only reason to come here is for the cute decor. So an Instagramers paradise, but that's about it. read more

Stopped by after a late lunch to try their ice cream sandwiches and we were NOT disappointed. The cookies were huge (bigger than my palm), soft in the middle, and you could tell that they do not go easy on the brown sugar and butter. I had a chocolate chip cookie sandwich with cookie dough ice cream and it was delicious, the cookies and the ice cream combo was divine. My boyfriend had snickerdoodles (fresh from the oven and warm!) with vanilla ice cream. We were very satisfied and will definitely be coming back soon if not often! read more

Absolutely delicious! When you walk in the door, you are greeted with the aroma of the freshly baked pastries. The staff is very welcoming and the shop is quaint and warm. The service was seriously off, the young lady behind the counter looked put out that we had come- and responded to some of the kids questions about ice cream in a snippy manner. We had arrived for Schools Week, where the kids do a scavenger hunt--I asked about the sign in to which she responded very loudly that "We dont have electronic sign-in" so I asked for the paper version--showing her the one I had. She again responded very rudely and loudly saying we had to bring one ourselves with a loud sigh." Ok fine, but there are other ways talking to CUSTOMERS. Mind you, there were no other customers in the entire store. We walked in with three adults and 6 kids in tow for ice cream and treats. After the kids got their ice cream, they made their way outside to eat. When my friends and I got outside after paying, the three older boys asked what was wrong with the 'lady." I went the first weekend after they opened after changing owners. It looks like it's finally going to be back like it was when I was a kid. It's so nostaligic walking in there. I have come here a few times in the past whenever I felt like something sweet. This Is a very cute little candy shop that sells thrifty Ice cream and an assortment of candy that Is not normally carried In stores. When I walked in, there was only three other people in the store and one employee. The people in front of me were just talking and taking a very long time deciding what they wanted. The guy behind the counter did not say hi to me or tell me he would help me in a few minutes. So I just waited for the other customers to finish. I finally decided on a lollypop and some rasperry creams. I noticed the guy was weighing all the candy in the same plastic scale. I wonder how often they clean it. Anyway, in the past I order just candy, and that's always been good, but the raspberry creams tastes awful. I left feeling like bleh. I don't recommmend that type of chocolate, but the past times I've bought their chocolate it's been good. I just have to chose a different one. It's fun to walk in there every once in a while, but I won't be a regular customer. read more

THE STAFF HERE ARE GREATTTT!!! They were so kind to both my daughter and I. We went in after lunch and decided to pick up some candies for later on and some ice cream. They were very patient with my 5 year old daughter who couldn't make up her mind on what candy she wanted. It's very organized and clean in here. Their ice cream was also good. I came here several times already, I always appreciated their tarts and scones. I decided to try their almond croissant and it was burnt and hard to chew. I went back inside and told the employee that it was super hard and bitter to taste. He came back saying rudely that that's how their croissants tasted like and that people like them like that( i said awesome! ). I mean, I just didn't want to destroy my teeth from a hard croissant, he gave me the money back but I purchased the chocolate croissant instead and gave the rest as tips. I didn't want money back. I just wanted to inform that almond croissants should not be burnt nor taste bitter. AND NO, almond croissants do not taste like that. Someone burnt those croissants. They were not edible and he should accept the fact and not sell them. I was disappointed with his rude reaction and by not admitting the poor quality of his pastry. It was hard and bitter! read more

Excellent service and the place was impeccable. They serve thrifty's ice cream (somewhere like 16 different flavors) I had the chocolate brownie with the black cherry. Thrifty's isn't thee best ice cream ever made. But for the price and the flavor. It is one of the best value ice creams you'll ever find. I'll gladly pay $2.00 for a single scoop here or $1.85 at La Michoacana in South El Monte, than pay $3.50 for a single at some place with lots of hype, and the difference in ice cream quality is slightly better, in most cases, it's not better, its all those toppings of sweets they charge you for that makes a rather average ice cream more tasty. This place is in a quiet, safe and respectable neighborhood of Glendora. They carry a nice selection of home made chocolate and fudge, plus there walls are covered with nostalgic candies like big league chew and the bubble gum pack cigarettes. read more

The coffee-flavored ice-cream is the best you can find. My daughter and I make a special trip just to go there for that ice cream. And it is not "store-bought." They get it from a creamery that uses only the best ingredients. One taste and you can tell the difference. It makes me sad that this little store might go out of business. It's not just a candy shop, but a place where generations of Glendorans have gone to have a special treat with loved ones. Stop by while you still have the chance to make one last memory. This place was great! Prices were amazingly low. Everything was fresh and made by hand. They had hand made ice cream sandwiches for $4. I wanted a half a one - 1 cookie cut in half with a big scoop and a half of ice cream - $2!!!! My friend had a float - filled a 21 oz cup with ice cream then put in some soda and handed my friend the can - $5. Huge real hot fudge sundae for $3. They even had doggie treats - great big peanut butter dog cookies for 50 cents each. Don't miss this place. read more

SO In the last year or so Martha's Candies has been made over! But in a great way!!! The new owners have kept all of the original "old fashion" Candies!! On top of it they have so many neat Ideas for gifts! They have the most amazing candy apples! And man these are apples on steroids! they are huge! Also they always give you more then you suspect with the size of the Root Bear Floats and Ice Scream scoops! Plus if you are getting married they have some amazing wedding favors!!
