A friend and I decided to try Crust Pizzeria. It was a slow day so we had the entire place to ourselves. We placed our order at the register, paid and sat at any table. We ordered the chicken pesto pizza. It arrived piping hot. The pizza is very thin and light. I could have easily ordered another as I was still hungry. Shortly after we ordered cannolis. Delicious Neapolitan pizza! The pizza is light and crispy with a soft pillowy crust. I appreciate the diversity of pizzas with over 20 pizzas to choose from! Over the weekends, we love having a pizza party with the kids and everyone gets their own pizza (always doubles over for leftovers!). Honestly, it was good but I really don't see the hype. I will say one cool thing they do is import in an Italian flour that's gluten free. I also thought the staff were super friendly and checked on us. The pizza was solid, but it didn't feel remind me of pizza I had in Italy. Their pizza style is the very flat kind baked in the brick oven. I felt like our crust tasted slightly burnt, but it was still alright. We also ordered the Calzone. I felt the same about the calzone - alright. The ambiance is cute and chill. Very family style dinning with plenty of group seating. Portions are small and prices are expensive. Ordered pepperoni beef, got no beef but it was still good! Service was timely, and they had good shows playing on TV, unfortunately the seats are not well arranged for watching them. All-in-all, I enjoy the flavor and would come back to try others. My favorite so far is the pizza with prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic glaze; although, the others I've tried are good too. This is a pretty solid artisan pizza place near Tyson's Mall. We came here on the recommendation of an acquaintance and were not disappointed! You order at the counter and they bring the pizza out to you fresh. We loved the classic margherita and there were some nice special combos too. Price-wise, it's slightly less than comparable places like Pupatellas. They keep fresh parmesan in the fridge, just ask (loved that actually!) Locationwise, if you aren't able to snag a parking spot in front, there is more parking in the back that's not too much of a fuss to navigate. Friendly staff walked us through the menu and made some suggestions - we settled on pepperoni pizza, the Vegetariana, and a house mix salad. Our pizzas were certainly delicious, but the salad was overpriced at $12 - mostly greens and a smattering of sliced onions, olives, croutons, and tomatoes tossed in. We were greeted at Tuesday lunch by another crusty cashier. I'm not sure why Crust puts unsmiling, unhappy- to-be- at- work people front of the house. She was totally irritated that we were wanting to place an order-- and then weirdly seemed to expect a smile when she delivered our appetizer (yes, you pay first, and yes, I did tip, despite the annoyed reception we received). The restaurant itself is fine. Bare bones, no big deal. But to have to sit through a meal with DJT's face up on the big screen was a huge no thank you. If I'd noticed that before ordering, we wouldn't have stayed, and if it had been Fox or something similar, we would have left. But the news is not something I want to accompany any meal. Leopard spotting on the underside, an appropriately sized cornicione, and good flavorful ingredients. I had a margherita, and the sauce, cheese, and basil were high quality. The basil was especially smart, giving some minty notes. The caprese was well composed, good quality cherry tomatoes, and a nice balsamic glaze. Came in with SO over the holiday. We ordered pizza, lasagna and the recommended wine. One of the owners, Sam, was so amazingly gracious and kind. We spoke about the progression of this location and the new location in Reston. Honestly there are very few places where the owners are ON THE FLOOR EVERY DAY. I HAVE TO GIVE KUDOS TO SAM! The pizza, NOT THE CRUST, lol, took a back seat to the lasagna! OMG, it took me back to my time in Italy..light and flavorful. American lasagna can leave you feeling heavy, but not theirs. I could have eaten several more slices it was so light! The SO thought the lasagna was FANTASTIC. He used the word, clean. The wine that Sam recommended complimented the pizza and lasagna perfectly. We finished the meal off at home with complimentary cannolis. Let me first say that cannolis generally are flavorless, IMHO. But these cannolis, LEMON THROUGH AND THROUGH. We generally have pizza night once a week in my house, so I am always excited to try a new place. We ordered two pies for pick up, and I have to say that I was so disappointed. We ordered two basic pies, a pepperoni and buffala (which is inherently softer because of the cheese). The pies were wholly undercooked, and everything was soupy. It was pretty gross, and inedible. We ended up ordering from a tried and true fav. to compensate for the loss of the two Crust Pizza soupy pies. An unexpected, and rather expensive pizza night. Thin, foldable slice (I got the one size fits all, where they cut it in quarters and let you take it from there): hint, it's best to just fold the slice into half and bite in, but maybe not so family friendly if we're only getting 4 pieces per pizza. I did say best (or favorite) pizza, not cheapest- though, don't get me wrong, I was very happy with the satiety to dollar ratio here. Maybe just aim for an extra pie(s) and/or a side dish or two if you're dealing with a big family. Stopped by for dinner on a weekday. Ordered the spicy diavola pizza and it was great. Not spicy but the sauce was fresh and tangy. The capri sandwich was very good, more mozzarella than pesto but tasted very fresh. Service was quick and excellent, only waited around 10 minutes for our food. I've heard great things about Crust for a long time and finally decided to eat here. I wasn't disappointed! I went for lunch on a weekday and got the lunch special, one small pepperoni pizza and a drink. For only $11 total I feel this was a tremendous value, two people could actually split this pizza and have a nice lunch. Or one really hungry person could eat the whole thing, that also works too! Pizza was served quickly and came hot and crackling out of the oven. You can tell they carefully source their ingredients and really care about how the food tastes.
