Final review of Tony's in Oakton as tonight is my final time visiting them. We've had our fair share of ups and downs and downs with this place over the years - uneven food and consistently bad service... but tonight was the last straw. Ordered a 14" pepperoni for pickup. $21.29 is outrageous for a medium one topping pie (carry out) to start. But when we got it home, it was 11 inches (we measured). We ordered meatball and grilled sausage subs, which were very good! The bread was also worth mentioning. Not sure where they source it, but the flavor was on point! The only complaint we have is the cheesecake. Maybe my nutritionist called ahead and told them I don't need desert? Every meal at Tony's is worth it! Updating my review because I always order their pizza and this week marked the first time that I tried their pasta and I was equally as impressed. We ordered their ziti, garlic knots, and Cesar salad. The ziti has just the right amount of sauce and cheese to compliment the pasta. These days, I find that many restaurants try to be conservative with their ingredients but Tony's remains exceptional - the sauce and cheese were generous. The garlic knots were tasty and not too garlicky. The Cesar was super fresh and each bite of lettuce came with a crisp crunch. Once again, Tony's for the win! read more

Can't give five on our first as we got it delivered via Uber eats, we knew it wouldn't be piping hot and let's face it, it's best piping hot. It was still excellent--hence the 4 stars. I had low expectations but the mozzarella sticks were very good! Coated in batter, not bread crumbs. The outside was crispy and flavorful and the inside was perfectly gooey. My first couple times in there were meh, but you know what? They've since resolved this issue. This location is not as big as Fair Lakes, but despite its small size, big heart! Super nice employees. Well done as this is an establishment that will get your order correct, and in a timely fashion. Located in Hunter Mill Shopping Center, it's convenient to a lot of other spots. I love their pizzas. Most business here is carry out, but they have a few tables to dine in. They also have traditional Italian dishes, that are good quality and fair priced. Well done! I like this restaurant a lot. This is a family owned and family friendly place. That was needed in this area, and will be ordering another delicious pizza here shortly. read more

We haven't had Tony's in a long time..probably not since the start of Covid. Expected and totally acceptable prices went up, as everyone's did. But quantity also went down at the same time? The 10 inch subs are now 8 - find new boxes, the current boxes are so sad with the sub only filling up half the container. The pizza sizes also look 30% less than what they used to be. I used to be a regular customer of their pizzas, but they recently raised the price too much.......a regular 16' cheese pizza is now $17.50, up several dollars from before. You can't do that and keep your customers.....so I simply quit buying pizza there. The only thing I get there now is the Thursday special for the ziti-pie, when it is about half-price. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like it. The sauce had a rich, tangy flavor, and the cheese was melted to perfection. I feel like I'm living on a different planet here. I came back for the NY style pizza and picked up a half pepperoni-half margherita pizza. For such a "famed" pizza joint here in NoVA, it came up short. Not by a few inches, but at least a foot, if not more. I think the biggest issue with the pizza here is their crust. Having both their sicilian style and now their NY style, their crust is just not up to par. I would venture to say if I put their crust and some frozen pizza from the grocery store in front of someone, 50% of the time they would probably pick the frozen pizza crust as being better. If you've been watching a bunch of, One Bite Everybody Knows the Rules, reviews by our our fellow pizza connoisseur, DP (you already know), then this will likely not satiate your craving. On the DP scale, I'd venture to say he'd probably throw a 5.2 on this, which I will translate to two stars here. I really wish I could vouch for them more, as they are a nice local pizzeria, but there's a few others in this area that are probably better value and tastier. Finally, as it turns out, this Tony's NY Pizza is not the same exact owner as some of the other famed Tony's. So that might explain some of the discrepancy with the other Tony's. Nonetheless, the review stands. TL;DR: Not the same as other Tony's NY Pizzas in the area. The crust is probably the most lackluster part of the pizza, and you know the crust is key. While not a hard pass, there's generally better pizza joints in the area if you're not hard pressed to drive a little further. read more

We came in on a Friday night and the restaurant wasn't super packed but it had a good amount of people in it. I ordered 2 slices of mushroom pizza and my husband and his friend ordered a large pepperoni pizza with onions and sausage. It took about 15/20 min for our food to come out which didn't really feel that long since we got to sit outside and the evening was beautiful temperature. I noticed that the middle of the pizza is where the crust loses is crispiness which I wasn't a fan because I love a crispy crust. The rest of the crust was really good though! The tomato sauce they use does have a sweetness to it but overall it was good. Definitely a great spot to check out for pizza night. Very strong Italian energy emanating from this place! Framed pictures of the pope, Italian pop music blasting through the speakers, totally fresh pizza--you gotta love it, especially as an Italian-American. I just came in for a slice, and there were tons of options including many creative and gourmet combinations. I was craving classic pepperoni. They don't skimp on the pepperoni! I tried the garlic sauce too, which reminded me of the Papa John's one. Really good pizza--the cheese and the crust were what made it great. I'm excited to try more. My bill was under $5 after tax, which you can't beat for lunch. They were advertising some type of winetasting event for tonight, which I would love to check out. Tried it for the first time today. Enjoyed the wings, pizza, spaghetti, and garlic bread. It's a super casual sit-down spot and the food was pretty darn good. We had the margherita pizza, another pizza whose name I can't remember, wings, and sausage spaghetti. All were delicious. The garlic bread was buttery and the outside was nice and crusty. I visited Tony's this weekend because I was looking for a quick slice of pizza in the area. When I walked in I was greeted by friendly staff and the restaurant looked very clean. The entire staff was wearing masks and gloves and it was clear that they were taking the appropriate measures to ensure that staff was practicing social distancing. There was both outdoor and indoor seating available which I thought was great. They had a wide selection of options to choose from-- lots of different pizzas (thin/thick crust) as well as calzones, sandwiches and pastas. I ordered a slice of the Tony's special and it was fantastic! The crust was crispy and warm and the ratio of cheese/sauce toppings was just right. I enjoyed the slice so much that I ordered two additional slices to take home! I saw that they had a nice wine selection and even a semi-private back room for events/parties. I'm looking forward to stopping by again to try their pasta and sandwiches. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! I will be back soon! read more

Tony's NY Pizza are a family owned business with a few other restaurant locations. Their reputation precedes them! Excellent pizza and very warm hospitality. You may have tried their pizza from their restaurant in Fair Lakes. I just visited for the first time today since they opened two days ago in Oakton. The new restaurant is very clean and they are already busy. I ordered a half margheritta, half special pizza for take-out. Their pizza is so freshly made and flavorful that it's dangerous! I'll be a regular for sure. Their pizza is really good, but their menu goes beyond the pizza. They serve appetizers such as fries, calamari and wings. They also have soups, salads, pasta, hot and cold subs and desserts. They also have a gluten free menu. Tony's NY pizza has something for everyone, we will definitely order again. read more
