I carefully read the Yelp reviews for Crystal's Alterations before I took two 40" wide sheer curtains to her to be shortened for my girls bathroom. She was soooo sweet and polite and busy that I felt certain that she would help me. I handed her the TWO separate curtains and after looking at BOTH of them she gave me a receipt saying "I'm only going to charge you $20 and THEY will be ready a week from now, on Friday..." WRONG! On the appointed Friday, Crystal wasn't at the store but her Hispanic seamstress was there and after several minutes of searching, said here THEY are here but THEY are not finished! She verified my phone number on the work order and said that she would call me as soon as the curtains were done! FOUR days AFTER the work was promised and still not receiving a call, I called Crystal and she said that she just got back to work and they would be ready the next day, Thursday. Okay, almost a week LATE but okay - Then she said "Oh, I didn't realize that there were two curtains and I WILL HAVE TO DOUBLE THE CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!! We were being CHEATED! That is more than we paid for the curtains! IF you deal with this woman do NOT trust her unless every last detail is written on the work order AND YOUR RECEIPT!!! read more

The first time, I only brought one pair of slacks for her to shorten. My hesitation was because I'd gone to dry-cleaner/alterations places and they butchered my hemming request. I was sooooo pleasantly surprised when Kay took the time to pin my slacks on me, taking into consideration my brace and difference in leg lengths to make my slacks a perfect fit! She is amazing. I have a history for being everyone's bridesmaids or maid of honor. That being said, I've brought all of the 8 dresses to her in a span of 10 years. She does amazing work! All of my dress' were beautifully done and at the best quality of work! What I love about her is that she inputs a lot of her own opinions about altering fabric which I believe it vital when it comes to perfection. I was a loyal and great customer from 2002 through 2013. I spent hundreds of dollars in there over more than a decade. I was shocked by my last transaction there. Kay didn't even have me put on the shirt I needed an inside button sewed on. She just took the shirt, though I kept trying to make sure she knew where it needed to be. The next day, I picked up the shirt. That night, I had my first shift at a new job but found that she had not sewn the button at the right spot, so it was pointless, and I had to quit my new job because I wouldn't be able to wear the uniform. I called very upset, and Kay would not take responsibility for having done anything wrong and was very rude to me....even hung up the phone on me! I was stunned that this was how she treated such a longterm and devoted customer. I have not gone back since. Awful business practices. read more
