When I brought this frustration to their attention, they didn't treat me like a difficult customer. Instead, they simply doubled down on making it right. They kept my vehicle--and kept me in a brand-new loaner--until the issue was fully resolved. It took several months, including a master service call directly to German engineers. Throughout the entire process, communication was stellar. I received regular updates, had a long, reassuring conversation with the Service Director, and was even invited to talk through the mechanics directly with the technician working on my car. Because the diagnosis was so complex, they made some initial missteps--and rather than passing those costs on to me, they absorbed them entirely. He answered my seemingly incessant questions about the car and how a lease works. He not only answered my questions i a timely manner, he was willing to text and chat until I was content. When I found a road block he worked with me to get through it. Not only an amicable solution, he found a better car under my required monthly payment with more features than I anticipated. On Tuesday morning he came to pick me up at my store in Falls Church, VA (The Gun Dude) and drove me to Germantown, MD (because they don't sell electric Smart cars in Virginia) 45 minutes later. The conversation on the way to the store was stimulating and his energy was evident. At the car dealer he was very attentive to my every need. He offered coffee and water and served it to me not seconds after I was through the door. We even spent a few minutes learning how to install the panels on one of the model Smart cars. I took my new car (my first new car ever) for a test drive and was more than pleased with the product. Upon return we completed the papers, during which he very patiently answered every question I had about the contracts, and when he did not know the answer he said as much...and then went to find the answer!!!!! I wish this guy worked for me, seriously. Once the lease paperwork was complete he walked me through the features of my new car and plugged it in for a full charge before I left. The charge took longer than expected so he gave me a loaner car to get lunch. While at lunch he realized the charge and detailing would take a bit longer than we anticipated so he gave me the loaner so I could get back to my business. He then drove my car to me (a 45 minute drive) and picked up the lender car at about 7pm. Jeff explained every question I had about the car and the whole leasing process in general in an extremely courteous and professional manner. I have never seen a sales person so knowledgeable about what they were selling before in my life. I will most definitely return to Jeff in the future to get another car, whether it's a Smart car and or a Mercedes-Benz. I highly recommend getting a car from Jeff if you want to leave the dealership with a smile, knowing that you made the right decision about your purchase.

I came to purchase a car for my wife, because hers went down. She found a car and we purchased it cash. But if I rewind, the whole entire time that I was there, this guy spoke so highly of not selling junk and not selling bad cars. My wife test drove it on the highway and back up the street for about 10 minutes. My wife like the car. She drove the car for a couple of days and then began mentioning a rattle and shake on the front end of the car.(Now, remember, some women will just drive a car until the wheels come off, and never really noticed sounds, but this was different and alarming to her) I got in. I heard the noise while she was driving, I decided to drive I heard the noise shaking loose sound, not only was there a shaking, loose sound whenever you press the gas pedal during the gear changes the steering wheel which snatch to the right right in between the gear changes. That's when I was sort of confused because I did not think that there was anything with the motor that could be related to the steering at all, even more odd. I return to the dealership. Now this is when the funny business starts the young lady there immediately starts getting crazy defensive about my complaint and the quality of vehicle never saying to me bring the car back so we can see what's wrong. However, she was sure to make sure that she stated that you know this is a used vehicle, and I should know better, this is an as is dealership, (Like get outta here clown you know you can't complain at a used car dealership sorry you have to be quicker than that, sir. Was her attitude) she began making excuses for her manager or the owner I returned again the same thing he's not here he's not here. Here's the crazy thing the whole entire bottom of the vehicle never had screws installed on the control arms of the truck except for one bolt that was hanging out had we not gone to a mechanic who did a full inspection and me videos and showed us that we could have been killed in this car no call steel Tuesday from direct auto. These vehicles are unsafe and whoever the person is home inspected, these vehicles should be fired and this place should be close. I have video footage and I have the entire inspection report. I am considering posting it on here also so that you can see how horrible this business is don't go horrible this business is don't go there. I implore you don't do it. The guy is a salesman and possibly a fraud.

Dropped it off around 1030 AM and if you don't wait there, they will put you behind those that are (fine - makes sense). I asked if I could get the car by 2PM. No problem. I started checking in around 130 and had to text my service agent multiple times to get a response back. By 2PM I still did not receive confirmation that my car was ready. After calling the front desk, they finally got back to me that they wanted to handle a recall item. Fine. By 4PM they had found two other issues. The service agents are not on top of responding back to you and their pick service is on call - so you can't set a time to be picked up.

$700 TO REPLACE A BATTERY THAT LASTED 18 MONTHS…read more King Volkswagen replaced my battery in January 2025. By August 2026, it failed after only 18 months. I was offered no discount, goodwill adjustment, or meaningful resolution toward the nearly $700 replacement. I escalated the issue to manager Dave Scott and requested a phone call. After multiple emails, Dave stated he was "not available for a phone conversation" and suggested I take my business elsewhere. After I paid and signed my paperwork on 8/13/2026, I asked Kaylee Cummins a routine question about a service coupon. Her response: "You fired me as your advisor, so you need to ask someone else." She refused to assist me and directed me to Melanie Thompson, who also declined to assist me and referred me back to management. What began as a prematurely failed battery ultimately exposed a much larger customer-service problem. This was, without question, the worst customer-service experience I have ever experienced. Based on both the service issue and, more importantly, how it was handled by employees and manager, Dave Scott, I would strongly advise against having your vehicle serviced at King Volkswagen in Gaithersburg, MD.

Now in June, find out from my bank that they never received the title from the dealer. That VA is waiting on information from the dealer to transfer the title. Called and left messages no response. After sales customer service so far is lacking. Usually there is a survey from dealers. Not one from this one. Once they take your money they are ghosts. I had a conversation with someone who also bought a car from them. Similar experience, person told me they just use another dealer.

The whole process took multiple days because they could not find the car that I wanted (Kona white AWD). Then they informed me that there was a Kona white FWD available which is obviously pricier. When I finally came in to seal the deal, I was told that the original 0% interest fee was now suddenly 2.2%. I felt frustrated and blind sided. On top of this, when I spoke with the sales manager over the phone, she was extremely aggressive and rude. If there is a mistake or complication, I don't believe that it is ever okay to put your frustrations on others, especially your customers. But overall I am very happy with the car. I'm just disappinted at the multiple mistakes and disrespect.

We verbally confirmed the deal, and I left knowing I would return the following day with my trade-in and all necessary documentation. Upon my return, I found my new car parked up front, ready for finalization. However, the process took longer than anticipated--about three hours--because Kevin informed me there was some confusion over the agreement from the day before. Despite Marcus verifying our deal, management seemed hesitant to honor it initially. After some back-and-forth, we managed to move forward, but the delay felt unnecessary given our earlier discussions. During the closing, I worked with a finance representative (whose name I regrettably forgot), and she made the process relatively smooth. I was offered various upsells, including the Fitzgerald VIP card for $799, which I declined based on my previous experiences with loaner cars being challenging to obtain.
