Perhaps it was the smell of Palo Santo or Frankincense that drew me inside the actual store rather than simply lingering around the plants outside. When I walked in, a full-on aura cleansing was being given by Alfonso Alexander, resident Mayan Curandero/Healer. When asked why the ceiling is covered in aluminum foil, he said to help protect the plants from exterior radiation in the city. Interesting. He was also burning some very special crystallized sap incense that can only be found in his country, and he let me sample many different types by sampling some in his heated charcoal bowl. He was kind, friendly, and in no way pushing products on me that I wasn't interested in, while also being very generous about letting me smell difference incense to see what I would like most. There's something about this place I just love. It's filled w hanging, trayed, propped, glittering and nestled treasures ... Like a cosy crowded bnursery of magic. A small dragon's lair. I've bought some great rocks there. The manager (I think... or owner?) is extremely knowledgeable. It's always a perfect pleasure, and also educational, to speak to him. Two downsides: it feels like someone from the store is constantly watching as if you're going to shoplift. Or are they trying to help? It's hard to tell but I don't like it. Also some of the prices are high. I was so surprised at one price that I contacted another expert to ask if it made sense. (It didn't.) But not all the prices are so high. And it's NY. And it's East Village. And I've seen worse. I like it much better than Beads of P or Aum Shanti. (I like Astro too.) I could spend hours exploring the crowded shelves and boxes and racks, and hours outside w the plants and palo santo and hanging things. The place is filled with crystals I loved it. My friend and I went in hopes to find a beautiful crystal and a worker assumed we were just there "looking" and not going to buy when we had crystals ready to purchase. I assumed it was because we look young when we're adults. He gave us an attitude and we didn't like the way he spoke to us so we nicely put the crystals back and left. I really liked many crystals there but with employees like that, customers will be scared away. read more

I walked a long way to go to this store. I was excited to get some new items however my happiness deflated reaching there. I shouldn't feel deflated in a spiritual setting. I understand they had a cleaning routine but a GRAND RISING could've been nice when I FIRST was there. When another customer came in.. there was a how are you doing... wow! Was I astonished. I eventually was told if I needed help, I can ask. However it was a little too late bruv. I did buy a couple of things because I walked VERY far. I also felt uneasy in there and a little claustrophobic. However I ain't neva comin' back to that store... If you've ever wanted to buy a bromeliad nestled in a snail shell, this is the place to get it! (see my photo) This place has a great assortment of unusual houseplants, including the aforementioned bromeliads -- there are at least 3-4 varieties of them. And the best part is they only cost $10! A great housewarming gift. I also got a nice fluffy fern there for only $15, and the guy who works there is very helpful on watering/feeding advice. A hidden gem. read more

What...A...Vibe! I walked into this place and immediately felt at ease... energy is everything, so I was delighted to have been helped by the young man in the store. His energy was kind & warm, but most importantly he was knowledgeable. He helped me to find what I was looking for, but more importantly the crystals that wanted Me; found Me! There is a wide selection & variety of tumbled, raw, beaded crystals, stones, incense etc. they have beautiful plants as well. This will be my go to from now on. BEST Crystal shop in all of NYC. I have spent WAY too much cash on some AMAZING magical rocks from this place :) II go in here often just to recharge myself and soak in the high vibrations. It is run by the kindest staff who can answer just about any question you might have about crystals/gems/plants. As soon as the worker saw us, she started shaming us and telling us that the "government is lying to us" and that we're "killing ourselves." She would not leave us alone and we just decided to leave. Don't buy plants here. Basically you'll pay a lot of moolah for the plant for die in a week. I want to like this place so much.. walk pass it every day. It looks amazing and has quite the selection. I paid $20 for the world's smallest aloe potted plant that died in a week. A few days after my purchase saw a huge one (probably 20x the size of the one from here) at another store for $5. Not saying that size matters but at least I would be out of 5 bucks if it died and not 20. read more

this place is a hidden "gem" of new york, for the mystical and curious alike. I stumbled across this treasure in search of some new succulents, of which they most certainly don't disappoint. the selection is bountiful and varied, with hanging air plants and larger banana trees or fronds that are lush and healthy. this spot also sells plenty of incense and small totems, sage, and palo santo for cleansing of soac s and for good energy. their gemstone selection is unreal. it's hard to find good pieces that are in their raw form - not just polished and strangely dyed like those you find at the museum gift shop. All stones are natural and absolutely gorgeous, and all have good energy that can be felt throughout the entire store. the staff are extremely knowledgeable about the stones and their meanings, as well as where there from. and if you have any questions, they're very open to looking up the answer for you. the crystals and gems are QUITE heavily on the pricy side, so unless you have a specific thing you're looking for you can accidentally end up spending a bit of money. There is a very rare stone, called maticite or something along those lines, that is only found in a certain part of the world, so a tiny piece can be from $30 to over a thousand. but he fact that they even have such cool pieces to sell or just admire makes this place a favorite spot of mine in the lower east side. read more

I purchased a jade tree 6-7 weeks ago and paid over $100. I followed all of the instructions on caring for it I was given to the t, but the plant wouldn't stop losing its leaves. I called for 2 days before anyone would give me the time of day to talk about why it was unhealthy. Eventually I was just staring at it watching the leaves fall when I saw that there were bugs. When they finally got back to me they told me I was probably doing something wrong and that's why it was dying. Just had to repot it and it was absolutely infested with bugs that had eaten the roots, it will likely die even in its new pot and soil. Will never buy anything from here ever again - could not recommend less. read more

This has been one of my favorite places for years and i'm really surprised that I couldn't find a single review anywhere online. The prices are the best I've found in town (hanging pitcher plants for $20!! they're $60-$80 everywhere else!) and they have a great selection of interesting and unusual cacti, succulents and bromeliads. Everything is healthy and bug/disease free and you can buy little versions of everything (great for bottle gardens!) under the counter. The guy behind the counter really knows his stuff and is always friendly and helpful The atmosphere of the shop itself is that of walking into a rainforest that happens to be filled with beautiful jewelry. While I have never bought any of the jewelry there I looove looking. The huge chunky natural stones are beautiful with the plants in there. My favorite neighborhood shopping habit hands down. read more

I agree with the previous reviewer. I usually keep extra cards around to share with friends, but I couldn't put my finger on them tonight and I was trying to direct a friend over there. I always forget 12th st or 10th st....anyway, I digress. The point is this place is amazing! Super wonderful collection of cactus and succulents and for someone that has lived in the desert and the tropics it is like a little paradise. They have great pots too. This place is a true gem (pun intended). I am never a fan of floral shops because they are stuffy and boring, but this store is truly one of a kind and worth a trip to the east village. It is actually two attached adjacent stores. The 1st focuses on succulents and precious stones (why didn't I think of this), while the other store has a larger plant selection including soil, pebbles, etc. This is a one stop shop for anyone looking to do a DIY project or pick up a unique gift. oh and the prices are the best I've seen in NYC. $4 for mini plants, $10-15 for larger ferns.
