I've had my fair share of dissatisfatory encounters with staff at this location, but my interaction…read moretoday with Assistant Manager Chelsea takes the cake. If management cared about doing the right thing, they'd throw her in the trash where she belongs. Today serves as a poignant reminder that everyone is an expendable bloodsack at Biolife and no one knows it more than regulars. Anyways, February 13th, a phlebotomist flooded my arm. With my arm being in a cuff, I couldn't tell that fluid was leaking into the surrounding tissue. Eventually, the site began to hurt. I wasn't feeling good, but a phlebomist insisted upon continuing the donation and hooked my other arm up to the machine. As this was happening, I notified them that I was feeling faint. The needle was removed and a nurse was called to take my vitals and proceeded to blame me for being dehydrated. Uh... okay. Biolife checked in with me the following day but that was the extent of it. The site has only worsened. Not only is it obviously unsightly-- it hurts to bend, there is a bit of a dull pain, and the hematoma is spreading. I wrote customer care on 2/18 about the incident expressing concern and requesting compensation. On 2/19 I received a call from the nurse to follow-up about my arm. She was perfectly nice as she checked-in with me. She also offered to reach out to management to see if I could be issued compensation. No additional support was offered, but I was advised to visit UC if things worsened. Enter Chelsea. Upon picking up her call, Chelsea snarkily asked me, "What sort of compensation are you looking for?" When I asked if she read the message I wrote or spoke with the previous nurse, she replied, "Yeah, well we don't offer that. That's what you signed up for." Ah, so Chelsea thinks it's cute to punch down and play 20 questions with injured donors. Not trusting my ears, I reiterated my story, and asked her if she saw anything wrong with her interpretation."Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. You signed papers. You knew the risk. We're not responsible and we don't owe you anything". I don't know know who Chelsea thinks she is or who she thinks I am, but holy hell. As someone who works in healthcare myself... I was FLOOORED. After I attempted to gather more info on what to do and on how to escalate the matter, Chelsea hung up on me. I proceeded to call the clinic back. Chelsea picked back up and I told her I wanted to speak to a manager. Chelsea refused to provide times of when a manager would be available and hung up on me... again! I called back and this is when Chelsea started playing victim, claiming I was yelling at her. I told her I was done talking to her; I wanted the number to corporate. She claimed there was no corporate. How does Biolife not have a corporate office with like 50 locations, smh. Anyways, it was clear I was talking to a brick wall at that juncture. The call ended. I've sent another written request to Biolife for assistance. In the meantime, I'm following up with UC for an exam. What happened wasn't okay. I didn't deserve to be treated the way I was. Nobody does. I'm calling for Chelsea the Psychopath to be fired.

Formal Complaint: Professional Misconduct and Discriminatory Treatment Date of Incident: April 21,…read more2024 & April 22, 2024 Location: BioLife Plasma Center, 1245 W Elliot Rd Suite 115, Tempe, AZ Subject: Formal Grievance regarding Medical Staff and Management Conduct To the Center Manager/Corporate Compliance Department, I am writing to formally document a series of highly unprofessional interactions I experienced at the Tempe BioLife facility. These incidents involved both a staff physician and a member of the management team. Incident 1: April 21, 2024 - Annual Physical During a scheduled annual physical, the attending physician exhibited a dismissive and condescending attitude from the outset. She made derogatory insinuations regarding my intelligence based on my questionnaire responses. During a review of my tattoos, she focused on an ankle tattoo and demanded I "elaborate" on it without medical context. When discussing my microblading history, the physician became overtly sarcastic regarding the dates provided. Upon confirming a 2023 date, she informed me of my deferral but refused to provide any further education or guidance on the policy. When I attempted to express that the interaction felt discriminatory and biased, the physician responded with a dismissive smile and stated, "We're done here." Incident 2: April 22, 2024 - Attempted Management Resolution Following standard complaint procedures, I returned to the center to speak with a manager. The manager's conduct was equally unprofessional; she was visibly hostile, rolled her eyes during my statement, and interrupted me repeatedly. When I attempted to discuss the physician's behavior, the manager stood up, acted as though I was being erratic despite my calm demeanor, and terminated the meeting by stating, "We're done here." Furthermore, both the physician and the manager refused to provide their names when asked, making it impossible to identify the specific individuals involved through standard channels. Summary of Concerns * Discrimination: I strongly believe I was targeted and treated with hostility based on my race. This appears to be part of a larger, systemic culture at this location, as I have witnessed similar biased behavior from other staff members, including a floor lead and a technician. * Professionalism: The sarcasm, eye-rolling, and refusal to provide names are direct violations of professional medical and customer service standards. * Policy Transparency: While I understand the medical deferral regarding microblading, the delivery of this information was used as a tool for exclusion rather than a professional medical briefing. Requested Action I am seeking a formal investigation into the conduct of the staff members working on the dates mentioned. I would like a written explanation of the center's policy regarding staff identification and what steps will be taken to address the unprofessional and discriminatory environment at the Tempe location. No donor should be subjected to such demeaning treatment.

I went to Vitalant planning to donate whole blood, but the staff suggested I switch to a plasma…read moredonation because my hemoglobin was "really good." I agreed. After 40min, the machine couldn't draw enough plasma and the technician told me "it's still enough, we can stop here, you've given enough blood." So I left thinking at least part of my donation was collected and would be used. A few days later, I checked my Vitalant account and saw my donation listed as "Unsuccessful Draw." No explanation, no details, nothing. That means the donation was discarded -- yet the staff told me everything was "enough" and "good." This is incredibly confusing and honestly feels misleading. If the product was not usable, then say that. If nothing was collected, then say that. If partial plasma was discarded, then say that. A donor should not have to guess what happened to their own blood. I volunteered my time and my body to help people, and the lack of transparency makes me feel like my effort didn't matter. Vitalant needs major improvements: Clear communication/Transparency: Donors should be told upfront when a donation ends early and whether anything is actually usable. Or even online portal should show more details, what was taken, what was discarded, how much was taken, where is it going, who did i help, some sort of transparency. Accurate donor history: The online portal should show what was collected (blood, plasma, partial amounts) even if it's discarded. Respect for donors' time: It's discouraging to give blood only to learn from the website -- not the staff -- that it was thrown away. I want to support blood donation, but this experience left me confused, disappointed, and feeling like I wasn't told the truth. So, I am not going back to Vitalant for sure but I will still explore more options to help out people.

This review is for their Phoenix location, but they also have another location in Lincoln Nebraska. Pros: Pay can be decent, but otherwise demanding Vis a Vis length of stays. Some studies require the whole year. Staff are usually amicable. The facility is spacious and nice. There are general areas situated in the dining hall where you can do a lot of work between procedures if you're moonlighting another job. Participants are usually friendly. Many speak Spanish , so if you speak it, you'll fit in quite well. Cons: usually screening visits encompass two separate days (that might be a week apart) : bloodwork and physical. Very rarely do they occur on the same day, but sometimes they do -- those are the studies you want if you're out of town! Competitive phone call: even if you pass your screening and physical, you still have one more task: to call in at a designated time slot. Call exactly at your designated time and prepare to have multiple phones, so you can have a greater chance of getting through the rush. Many studies require multiple returns which eats away at your time and profit. A lot of blood collections. They generally don't use catheters. Prepare your veins for discomfort and assault. They take in many backups. Such that if you're out of town it becomes not worth it even if you're accepted. In one study they took in a total of 80 participants to keep twenty. Sleeping quarters can shift everyday from bunk beds to the injection site area. You're gonna wanna bring a sleeping mask as in the test site area as there is an emergency light that is always on. Some of the studies you're required to eat everything in your meal. If you cannot, you will be promptly ejected from the study. Food is generally not of the greatest quality even when compared to hospital food (with few exceptions).

BANNED AFTER REPORTING BEING TOUCHED -- COVID RISKS, UNFAIR SCRUBS ENFORCEMENT…read more I reported another participant after he touched me without my consent. Management pulled me aside and then banned me, saying there were "multiple complaints" but refusing to provide incident reports or explain what the complaints were. I never threatened, disrespected, or hurt anyone. On top of that, staff placed people who were visibly sick with COVID in our station area (Station 1 by the nurse's station) instead of the upstairs isolation rooms. That blocked access to our bathroom and exposed other participants to sickness -- unhygienic, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Scrubs enforcement was inconsistent (many others were not wearing scrubs and were not disciplined), which felt retaliatory. I request that the site produce the incident reports that justify my ban, explain the complaint details, and outline the appeal process. If you care about participant safety, transparency, and basic hygiene, think twice before volunteering at Celerion.

I have found Dr Page to be very knowledgable, thorough, and passionate about keeping me healthy,. He is a clear communicator and a good listener. I think…read morepart of it is that I've been coming to this office for so long over the past two decades while I've been in and out of Arizona that I've seen a lot of changes since this began as a doctor's office probably before I was even thought of in the womb. The office now has a wound treatment center, a pharmacy, and their own X-ray labs (and blood labs). It's basically a day time hospital for non-emergencies, so it gets busy but the care has always met medical standards. Have I waited 3 hours in the past to be seen? Yes. Have I had a new doctor I'd never met gaslight me in 2022 for my cannabis use? Yep. A nurse even accused me of lying about how I broke my rib, ensuring me I was in a safe space to speak about domestic violence. I was not being abused, and I didn't appreciate the skepticism, but I can still admire the fact she cared enough to ask. A lot of people are happy to turn the other way. And honestly, no matter where you go in America, you're going to have good and poor quality doctors. It's just the nature of any industry. My current PA is awesome and has helped keep my medical conditions under control. Doctor Robert saved my dad's life before my dad realized he was in the early stages of cardiac arrest. Doctor Curtis got my husband admitted to the hospital before his condition worsened (and I almost lost him twice that year). The pharmacy is slightly higher than what I'd pay at a local Walmart, but oh boy, it makes up for itself in convenience. No lines, no wait beyond 5 minutes, and no chasing down referrals to the doctor's office since it's right here in the same location. I recommend this office a hundred times over and will continue to return for as long as I reside in Arizona.
