Parking is sparse in front of the restaurant but paid parking is nearby. We entered and wow, the place was busy. Not overwhelming but lots of people in the indoor dining area enjoying their food. The menu is overheard and we decided what we wanted and ordered. The employees were kind and helpful, we probably were the only people that didn't speak Spanish well in the restaurant but that wasn't an issue, SCW got the number 2 combo, I got the mole. Also ordered an appetizer. Seated and waited about 10 minutes and our order came out. Everything was freaking amazing. Such great flavors and so fresh. Even SCW who doesn't necessarily gravitate towards Mexican food made nom nom nom sounds the whole time. The mole was incredible, the best I've ever had. The whole time we were here it was an endless stream of customers, even late lunch hour. SCW was impressed by the contrast stream of people coming in. We even walked around the wharf nearby for a while and drove past again and it was still packed with people. Do yourself a favor and visit El Cantato. I know I will.

It took our party (8 people) a while to decide as we were spoiled with choices. But we had time as it was pretty busy for a Friday around 1. I ended up getting the carne asada nachos and the aqua Fresca that they had that day (mango and watermelon I think). Both were absolutely spectacular. The picture included might not show the best scale but I had 2 others helping me to eat this plate and otherwise I would not have been able to finish it (even as a larger man). The crunchy jalapeños with the chips, beans and guacamole were the perfect balance. As a meat eater, the texture of the faux meat was a touch odd, but the flavor more than made up for it. The staff was helpful and attentive even as they were balancing supporting customers, answer phone orders, and taking regular orders. My wife and will definitely be stopping by here more often!!

We had the option of indoor or outdoor dining. Based on previous yelp photos I decided to try the Cappuccino and I am glad I did. Made with LavAzza coffee I felt like I was in Italy again. My husband and I decided to share the combo plate. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage and a homemade biscuit. The salsa that it comes with is amazing so don't skip it. The portion was large and plenty for two people. The food was fresh, and flavorful. While the food was great, I think what makes this an amazing spot is the team. Each person was attentive, very friendly and made sure everyone had what they needed. I think we discovered a new spot and plan to be back. Oh and I love that they have a sign out front about providing a sandwich even if you can't afford one.

The meat was in cubes with veggies & a white sauce. Given that information, it had no flavor. The sauce was watery & barely added anything to the dish. Similarly, the chicken pot pie was incredibly creamy with not enough seasoning to balance it out. -Service/Staff: Despite being sat by the entryway, staff barely checked in on us to see if we needed anything. On multiple occasions, they checked on other groups around us, but not us. This was slightly upsetting as we felt invisible. -Overall: This place was just average. Nothing was particularly stand out about the food & the staff wasn't attentive during our visit. We were hopeful as it had great reviews.

So I was driving down to Monterey from Sacramento for a quick little 36 hour golfing trip. When I…read morearrived in Monterey,I was starving so I quickly jumped on Yelp and found the closest breakfast burrito spot I could find-That's when I found 3 Mundos Sandwich Shop on Fremont Street, which is a sandwich shop that also makes breakfast burritos. When we arrived they had a small parking lot but busy because they do a lot of Door Dash and Uber Eats business. Once inside I took a quick look at the menu and saw they had breakfast burritos of either Chorizo-Sausage-Ham-Bacon or Veggie. I chose Chorizo breakfast burrito($10.39) The shop is run by the owner-he was the cashier and the cook. In talking to him,he was telling me that his family owns multiple Mexican small shops like this in the Juarez Mexico area and El Paso Texas area.Says that all the shops use the same recipe for their hot sauce that is served with the burritos. Once the burrito arrived,it was both heavy and warm.Once I cut it open,I was able to appreciate the craftsmanship of this burrito in all its chorizo, egg, potato and cheese glory-it was beautiful. As pretty as it was though,it tasted even better,I had planned on only eating half of it as I had a tee time in less than an hour but one bite led to another and then it was gone. I've had many breakfast burritos in my day and as unexpected as this is to say, this may have been the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Also the aforementioned family-recipe hot sauce that came with the burrito was so spicy yet so tasty--perfect combo to a perfect burrito. In closing,if you ever find yourself in the Monterey area and you want to treat yourself to some upper echelon breakfast burritos-do yourself a favor and stop at 3 Mundos sandwich shop-a top tier food experience awaits.

At the time I stopped in, it was very quiet compared to previous trips, with no waiting to order and our pick of seats. I ordered a Ham Breakfast Burrito to try something different and it was fantastic. The tortilla had a nice char on it before being wrapped around the plentiful ham, potatoes, egg and cheese in its swaddling embrace. Each bite was fresh and flavorful, even beforr adding some of the house made salsa, which added an even bigger burst of flavor and some heat. I ate 1/2 on site, and rewrapped the other half and enjoyed that while at the golf course.

The restaurant is located on the lowest level of the Carmel Plaza, I really loved the location because there are plenty of places to park right around there. Between the two of us, we shared: - Miso cacio e pepe: we came specifically for this! It's one of their most well known dishes, and I highly highly recommend! So creamy and savory, and the mafaldine pasta has such a nice texture, the ruffled edges hold on to sauce perfectly. We also added a bit of gochujang that came with the bibimbap and it was so good with some spice. - Dolsot bibimbap: my husband's favorite Korean dish so of course we had to get it! An excellent variety of veggies, which was nice since we barely got any veg on vacation. The kalbi beef was so juicy and delicious, and not overcooked. - Matcha Tiramisu: absolute must get, so unique. The cake layers were soaked in matcha, and topped off with some fresh fruit. - Grapefruit sake spritz: I was on the fence between this cocktail and the yuzu champagne spritz. Our waitress said that the grapefruit spritz was much less sweet, and I am so glad I decided to go with that option! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, not overwhelming. Overall, my husband and I agreed that the matcha tiramisu was the best bite either of us had all weekend!

On top of that, the staff there was great - from the hostess to our server. It was a great experience.
