I've been coming to Cuantos since before its Michelin recommendation and unfortunately the quality has dipped a bit. I feel that their meat doesn't taste as seasoned but this place is still amazing and should be on any tourist's list. I always get the pastor tacos and a quesadilla. The salsa pairs so well as it adds the needed spicy kick.

Located in an unassuming food truck park in Austin, Cuantos Tacos ended up being the absolute highlight of our trip. These tacos are seriously next level. Every bite felt over the top delicious, and we kept eating until our stomachs hurt... totally worth it! The staff were extremely friendly, and everything was made fresh to order, which you can really taste. It is honestly hard to find tacos this good, and the hype makes complete sense once you try them. Do not skip the green salsa! It is the perfect pairing and takes the tacos to another level. I would also highly recommend getting a quesadilla. It is just as incredible and definitely worth adding to your order. If you love tacos, Cuantos Tacos is a must-visit in Austin! This is the kind of place you think about long after the trip is over.

we tried one of each taco, and my favorites were definitely the mushroom and the cachete (beef cheek). the flavors overall were really good, but the tacos were pretty oily and heavy on the sodium. the red salsa was fantastic! super spicy and aromatic, but the meat itself was already quite salty, so i couldn't add much without it becoming too much. overall, they're good tacos with bold flavors, but too greasy and salty, so i think it's a little overhyped

Cuantos Tacos is a true gem and especially rewarding for those of us who would rather have a few bites of something extraordinarily delicious to a heftier portion of forgettably mediocre food. After trying two Mexican City-style tacos--the Suadero (brisket, onion & cilantro) and the Champinones (Grilled mushrooms in Salsa Adobo, onion & cilantro), both on Nixtamal tortillas--it seemed a good idea to return sooner rather than later simply because these tacos were that good: delectably seasoned, served with fresh lime plus green salsa, and securely wrapped to go. Service was straightforward, friendly, and fast. On the minus side: the food truck tables were grimy and dotted with bird droppings and the parking area was rocky/not very accessible, detracting from the area's overall ambience though not surprising for anyone familiar with Austin's food truck dining experiences.

The tacos here were pretty good but also kind of tiny. I ordered the 6 to try each one and could have had more through the hungry night. So might be advisable to get more. Or perfect for a light snack. The seating here is not so great. Almost every table is really dirty and full of bird poo and nor will kept. Some over head tarps would have maintained the area better. Which this will make me think twice before wanting to eat in this food truck area. Since there are other things in the area also.

Cuantos Tacos tacos are fine. They are made with fastidious care. The meats on each of them (I ordered one of each) are cooked to spec. The salsas are bursting with garlic and thickened, I think, with oil. They are worth ordering.

Our first visit to this food truck on 12th street. Ample parking for maybe 20-25 cars and limited street parking with a few other food trucks including Thai. There are several picnic tables in the center so bring some wipes for tables, benches and hands. We all tried the six taco plate. They are street sized tacos with 2 corn tortillas. I wasn't a fan of some that were salty, or not very flavorful in my opinion. The salsas were very tasty with a kick. After driving 25 miles one way, I'm not sure I'd come back.

Lets keep this one short and sweet. The taco's here really are as good as you've heard. I got lucky when I got on line, as I was third in line, and after I ordered, the line had 25+ people on it. Just, go, it's well worth it. Do note the taco's are street taco size. As i'm writing this, I want tacos.

The food was magical untold stories stirred me up upon my first bite to the suadero it was so gah damn delicious I'm not kidding when I say top contender for this meat. Came to Cuantos on a San Antonio-Austin trip from multiple friends' recommendations - and so glad we did! Cuantos Tacos is a truck located in the larger food truck park, with ample parking and picnic tables - two portapotties also. We came around 6pm on Grand Prix Friday in Austin and didn't wait long. Staff were super fast and friendly. I ordered the beef cheek and pork stomach tacos, and they were SO packed with flavor. I would have ordered more if I wasn't so full from the day's BBQ. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth, and the tacos really respect the ingredients, they don't fuss with extraneous toppings. All in all, will definitely come back to Cuantos - hopefully again this trip!

I'm not gonna lie, I haven't had anything but their 1 of each taco plates and a pineapple jarritos at this truck ever, but I usually enjoy my food here. think Some nights are busy, others aren't so. The parking can be a bit of a pain, but street parking is also an option.

This was my first meal in Austin and it absolutely smashed. Cuantos is a food truck around a lot of other food trucks and a shaded area with benches. I ordered one of each taco, and every single one of them was delicious. The mushroom taco was definitely the most unique, and the stomach was my favorite. The sauces are also wonderful- there's a spicy brown sauce and a tasty green one. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

I recommend trying one of each. My least favorite was the mushroom taco. I would pass on that the next time I come

OK, peeps... This is a serious taco joint in Austin. I would put it in the pantheon of La Tunita 512 (see my review elsewhere)! We waited the entire week to get their Al Pastor & the buggers did not disappoint! Perfect seared and a little slice of pineapple just gave it a bit of sweetness and acidity. However, the brisket tacos were THE BOMB! Just perfect - richness, with the usual suspects - onion and cilantro, a bit of lime juice and their salsa.... Oh, my, my.... I've been to Cuantos Tacos twice and the food is delicious! The corn tortillas are as tasty as I've had anywhere. The longaniza takes its name from the Portuguese sausage, but it has the flavor of a traditional chorizo without the drenching of grease. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food at this trailer is on par with the best Mexican restaurants in town at a fraction of the price and that's good enough for me. read more

SO tasty. Blast of flavor just like you want from a taco or Mexican dish. I cannot hype up the flavors enough. I was a little disappointed in the size of the tacos for being $2 each. BUT it doesn't matter because it's worth it. Just gotta order more tacos than you might normally. Also the frijoles - do not write it off as a bean side. It is incredibleeee and full of meats too. If you take anything away from this review it is that the flavors are so good and absolutely worth it. read more

This is the best taco spot in Austin! You know it's a good taco spot when you order 5 tacos and then ask for 5 more minutes later lol. I have been to this gem of a food truck twice. These are easily the best Mexican street tacos in Austin, and I have been to Discada, which is excellent, but these take the cake. I could argue that the carnitas is some of the best tacos in Austin period. I anticipate this restaurant being a huge hit, and it could only be a matter of time that they move into a brick and mortar. Do yourself a favor and check this place out, I promise you won't regret it. read more

A must if you're looking for legit MX city style tacos. We ordered the brisket, tripe, pulled pork, mushroom tacos and a sausage quesadilla. The tacos are small, so I suggest ordering 2x especially if you're really hungry. We arrived at 5pm and by 5:30pm there was a pretty long line. I'm glad my Austin friend brought me here for flavorful legit tacos. read more

I never write reviews but felt compelled to let people know about Cuantos Tacos. This place just opened up this week, specializing in street tacos estilo DF. So far I've had the frijoles especiales, the carnitas, and champiñones. Everything is fantastic, and the red salsa has a smoky quality with and almost cacao like undertone. Had suadero (brisket cut beef) and cachete (barbacoa style beef cheek) street tacos and a longaniza (sausage similar to chorizo) quesadilla. All three were incredibly delicious and loaded with flavor. The tacos on served on a dual layer of thin, fresh corn tortillas that actually taste like corn. The smokey flavor of longaniza sausage paired perfectly with the gooey quesadilla/Oaxacan style cheese in the quesadilla. Both salsas were great but I especially liked the creamy and smokey red salsa. First of many stops at Cuantos! Bringing a six pack next time (BYOB) to settle in and take down the rest of the menu. read more

I saw a review of the best lengua taco in town and as a Mexican decided to venture and go searching for said "taco of the week" unfortunately, nowhere was it specified that this place only offers it on WEDNESDAYS, anyways, already here, ill have everything else on the menu and help during the pandemic hardship. So TACOS ARE GREAT, I can not stress thin enough, best tacos I have tried, for sure. Only reason why I do not give this place a 5 star review is some limitations related to Covid 19 ordinances restrain best customer service practices. read more

This place is awesome! The guy behind the counter was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. I tried the saudero, buche, and longaniza tacos which were all phenomenal, tortillas were perfect as were the fillings. Also tried some of my friend's champinones quesadilla which was delicious. Definitely try the frijoles especiales, they're made with a bunch of the same meat they put in their tacos. Overall awesome Mexican street food! read more

We specialize in serving Mexico City style street tacos, Our main focus is to only serve tacos & quesadillas similar as to what you would find in the City. We use 100% NIXTAMAL tortillas for our tacos for that unique taste you can only find in Mexico.

History

Established in 2019.

We decided to serve this authentic style of tacos after researching and trying street tacos in different cities and points in our life from visiting family in Mexico. After going to Mexico City being The standard of street tacos had us wanting them back home it was a process from finding the right Tortillas to perfecting the recipe for the “Chorizera” and the salsas. Now we are ready to serve what we are very passionate about.

After going to culinary school here in Austin I always knew I would own my business wasn’t sure as to what style I was going to choose as Austin is so diverse. Being born and raised here seeing everything change I decided to stick to my Mexican roots and serve what is very dear to us Tacos! Not just any Tacos, but the kind you would find in the street stands in Mexico City (the best kind) at the same time creating a family/friendly environment with our customers for the Taqueros are real Joksters with there regulars, As well as Most importantly serving the best product every single day!

I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). One of my favourite snacks is the BLT with a slice of their smoked Cajun Butter Turkey Breast added for good measure however Ben suggested that I try the Bacon, Turkey, and Guacamole sandwich that was on the Sunday Brunch menu that out turned out to be a big winner for me with the amazing combination of the smoked turkey, house cured and smoked bacon, and a very savory guacamole and for digestive purposes only, I had a pint of the Pecan Porter draft from The Buzzmill. I definitely need to start frequenting JNL more when I'm in town.

Lebanese food doesn't appear to be super common around Austin, so it's awesome to have a spot like this. We got rosemary chai and orange pistachio chai. For the quantity, the $4 price is decent for a full cup of tea. Both flavors were good, I personally liked the Rosemary a little bit more but my husband preferred orange as that was very unique. Vada pav was SUPER fresh. Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind" menu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup. read more

I had the pleasure of trying Cuantos Tacos during Yelp's Tacos, Tequila, and Tunes event, and let me just say--I was absolutely blown away by how delicious their tacos were. The real star of the show was their nixtamal tortilla, which took the taco experience to the next level. These tortillas are wafer-thin yet incredibly sturdy, holding up perfectly to the weight and juiciness of the fillings. While they serve each taco with two tortillas, I'm confident that just one would be enough to support the full taco without tearing or becoming soggy. When I say thin, I mean super thin, but with a flavor and texture that add an impressive depth to the tacos. The Tacos: The cachete taco, featuring barbacoa (beef), was the standout for me. Its flavor was distinct and excellent, and the texture was phenomenal--juicy but slightly drier than the other tacos, which I felt worked in its favor. This one was my favorite by far. The suadero taco, made with confit brisket, was rich and flavorful but leaned toward a softer, mushier texture. Still, the brisket's richness was satisfying and paired beautifully with the tortilla. The carnitas taco had a similar profile to the suadero, with rich pork flavors but also a slightly mushy texture. While tasty, it didn't quite hit the same high notes as the cachete taco for me. What Stood Out: One of the most impressive aspects was how well these tacos held up during the event. Despite being premade and served from the event setup, they were still hot and fresh by the time I sat down to eat. That speaks volumes about their quality and preparation. The salsa deserves its own shout-out. Thick and vibrant, it had to be squeezed out, and its bold, spicy kick added an incredible layer to the already flavorful tacos. It elevated each bite and left me wanting more. Final Thoughts: Cuantos Tacos excels in crafting authentic, flavorful tacos that let their nixtamal tortillas take center stage. Each taco had its own unique strengths, but the cachete stood out as a must-try. Whether you're at an event or visiting their spot, the care and attention to detail they put into their food shine through. This was a memorable taco experience, and I can't wait to visit them again. 4.5 out of 5 stars. If you love tacos, this is a spot you shouldn't miss! read more

Cuantos Tacos has the best tacos I've had in Austin. Having lived in California for 6 years and had authentic street tacos in Mexico, it's hard to be satisfied by many of the bland "tex-mex" tacos served on big white flour tortillas in Texas. People love them, but they aren't real tacos to me. Real tacos to me are authentic Mexican slow cooked (and fast cooked) meats with tons of flavor. Balanced fat and protein. Nixtamal tortillas, homemade salsas, cilantro, lime wedges and white onion. There is a lot of love put into these tacos. Not only are they delicious, but they're priced right. There is another great taco place that opened recently on the East side, but it's too expensive for me to justify eating at regularly. I absolutely love this place, and i'm bummed they're about to move further west from their current Manor location, but i'm going for dinner tonight and it's all I can think about. read more

Cuantos Tacos is a gem in Austin! The food is absolutely delicious, with every bite packed full of authentic flavors. The area adds to the charm--it's a great spot to soak in the Austin vibe while enjoying a meal. However, I do wish there were a few more options for tacos. The menu is good, but a bit more variety could take the experience to the next level. The biggest issue, though, is the seating and the presence of dogs. While I understand Austin is super dog-friendly, I feel that for health code purposes, dogs shouldn't be allowed in the dining area. I've had dogs jump on the benches next to me while I was eating, which was less than ideal. A little more enforcement here could make a big difference. Overall, I'd still highly recommend Cuantos Tacos for the amazing food and atmosphere--it's definitely worth a visit! read more

Okay, so I've only gone for the Matamoros tacos, as I'm from Brownsville and got really excited to hear they have a Matamoros taco night. They were okay, the meat was kind of dry and the tortillas needed to also be juicier. The beans were not anything like the frijoles a la charra that I'm used to from south Texas; I like my frijoles with some good broth and not nearly as much pepper. I have not been here for other tacos, so I can't speak to that, but as far as Matamoros tacos go, I should have just made the drive to south Austin for Oyé Taco- those are legit. read more

Quanto's Tacos is a gem for authentic, flavorful tacos! I had the carnitas, buche, and costra carnitas tacos, and each one was bite-sized perfection - packed with rich flavors and a wonderful meat texture that's hard to beat. I recommend getting at least 5 tacos to fully enjoy the variety, though if you're a light eater, 4 should be just right. The service was quick, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. These are legit!! Real confit Suadero tacos cooked in a chorizera with tons of flavor and incredibly juicy. This place is not your average taco truck in town, it stands out from 99% of them! Real love and flavor goes into these and the team behind it are passionate and really care about quality. Tortillas are made with real nixtamalized corn and the salsas are muy rico. Definitely don't sleep on the beans - Jose gave me a sample of those and they are the truth. I'm thinking about going back again an hour later!! read more

I recently visited Cuantos Tacos, and I must say it was a decent experience! I paid $24.25 for 8 delightful tacos and an order of chile toreados. From the array of options including buche, suadero, carnitas, mushroom, and longaniza, my personal favorites turned out to be the carnitas and longaniza tacos. Despite their smaller size, the tacos were tasty. The taco truck is conveniently located in a charming food park with outdoor seating and plenty of private parking.
