I've been coming to Cuantos since before its Michelin recommendation and unfortunately the quality has dipped a bit. I feel that their meat doesn't taste as seasoned but this place is still amazing and should be on any tourist's list. I always get the pastor tacos and a quesadilla. The salsa pairs so well as it adds the needed spicy kick.
Located in an unassuming food truck park in Austin, Cuantos Tacos ended up being the absolute highlight of our trip. These tacos are seriously next level. Every bite felt over the top delicious, and we kept eating until our stomachs hurt... totally worth it! The staff were extremely friendly, and everything was made fresh to order, which you can really taste. It is honestly hard to find tacos this good, and the hype makes complete sense once you try them. Do not skip the green salsa! It is the perfect pairing and takes the tacos to another level. I would also highly recommend getting a quesadilla. It is just as incredible and definitely worth adding to your order. If you love tacos, Cuantos Tacos is a must-visit in Austin! This is the kind of place you think about long after the trip is over.
we tried one of each taco, and my favorites were definitely the mushroom and the cachete (beef cheek). the flavors overall were really good, but the tacos were pretty oily and heavy on the sodium. the red salsa was fantastic! super spicy and aromatic, but the meat itself was already quite salty, so i couldn't add much without it becoming too much. overall, they're good tacos with bold flavors, but too greasy and salty, so i think it's a little overhyped
Cuantos Tacos is a true gem and especially rewarding for those of us who would rather have a few bites of something extraordinarily delicious to a heftier portion of forgettably mediocre food. After trying two Mexican City-style tacos--the Suadero (brisket, onion & cilantro) and the Champinones (Grilled mushrooms in Salsa Adobo, onion & cilantro), both on Nixtamal tortillas--it seemed a good idea to return sooner rather than later simply because these tacos were that good: delectably seasoned, served with fresh lime plus green salsa, and securely wrapped to go. Service was straightforward, friendly, and fast. On the minus side: the food truck tables were grimy and dotted with bird droppings and the parking area was rocky/not very accessible, detracting from the area's overall ambience though not surprising for anyone familiar with Austin's food truck dining experiences.
The tacos here were pretty good but also kind of tiny. I ordered the 6 to try each one and could have had more through the hungry night. So might be advisable to get more. Or perfect for a light snack. The seating here is not so great. Almost every table is really dirty and full of bird poo and nor will kept. Some over head tarps would have maintained the area better. Which this will make me think twice before wanting to eat in this food truck area. Since there are other things in the area also.
Our first visit to this food truck on 12th street. Ample parking for maybe 20-25 cars and limited street parking with a few other food trucks including Thai. There are several picnic tables in the center so bring some wipes for tables, benches and hands. We all tried the six taco plate. They are street sized tacos with 2 corn tortillas. I wasn't a fan of some that were salty, or not very flavorful in my opinion. The salsas were very tasty with a kick. After driving 25 miles one way, I'm not sure I'd come back.
Lets keep this one short and sweet. The taco's here really are as good as you've heard. I got lucky when I got on line, as I was third in line, and after I ordered, the line had 25+ people on it. Just, go, it's well worth it. Do note the taco's are street taco size. As i'm writing this, I want tacos.
The food was magical untold stories stirred me up upon my first bite to the suadero it was so gah damn delicious I'm not kidding when I say top contender for this meat. Not at all and understatement why they're featured for Michelin guide. Service is diligent even at brunch hours I say about a quick ten minutes and less. Came to Cuantos on a San Antonio-Austin trip from multiple friends' recommendations - and so glad we did! Cuantos Tacos is a truck located in the larger food truck park, with ample parking and picnic tables - two portapotties also. We came around 6pm on Grand Prix Friday in Austin and didn't wait long. Staff were super fast and friendly. I ordered the beef cheek and pork stomach tacos, and they were SO packed with flavor. I would have ordered more if I wasn't so full from the day's BBQ. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth, and the tacos really respect the ingredients, they don't fuss with extraneous toppings. All in all, will definitely come back to Cuantos - hopefully again this trip!
This was my first meal in Austin and it absolutely smashed. Cuantos is a food truck around a lot of other food trucks and a shaded area with benches. I ordered one of each taco, and every single one of them was delicious. The mushroom taco was definitely the most unique, and the stomach was my favorite. The sauces are also wonderful- there's a spicy brown sauce and a tasty green one. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Man, I don't really ever trust food from a truck especially when it's meat but these tacos were beyond restaurant quality. They are on light tortillas and the meat is tender. I'd rank the brisket best BY FAR but the carnitas has a strong profile as well. The chef is nice and the food comes out in 5 mins or less. Furthermore, you get to sit in a nice shaded area secluded from the street. My only regret is not ordering 6! (For an adult you should get 5 minimum!) read more

I've been anticipating going to try this place for the first time as it's one of the top rated taco places in Austin. Overall it was good but not amazing. It could be due to the fact that I got everything to go but the time from pick up to eating was 30 min and the food was still warm. I got the sampler that came with 6 of each and the most standout part of the tacos were the high quality corn tortillas. Nutty, toasted perfection. The meat had decent flavor but didn't wow me. The salsas were disappointing. They were oil based and the red was a little spicy but not enough for me. With street style tacos I believe the salsas are what take it to the next level and these did not. What I did love was how fast the order was ready. Ordered at 12:05p and was ready for pick up in 10 minutes. Smooth online ordering system. There were a couple tables in the shade so next time I'll have to experience the dine in option. read more

Tacos were so flavorful, fresh, and juicy! Super chill vibes by everyone in the food truck park. Loved everything about it. Got 2 brisket, 1 carnitas, and 2 pastor. Both of the salsas were packed with flavor and good spice level. read more
Nut allergy friendly - I don't think I even asked. Located in a food truck park, parking at Cuantos is a bit difficult with a small dirt lot and then some street parking. There are a good number of picnic tables with tree shade and some port-a-potty restrooms for use. Food was ready extremely quickly (less than 10 minutes from order at the window). We decided to try two each of the: Campechana Taco (4/5): The brisket and chorizo have an interesting offset of saltiness and dryness. Revuelta Taco (5/5): Wow, this might be the single best street taco I've had in Austin. Perfectly tender all around and super flavorful. Al Pastor Taco (4/5): Nothing too crazy here, it's good and seasoned better than other Al Pastor tacos I've had but a little dry. Overall, a great stop on the Austin street taco tour. read more

These guys know their Tacos!! Yelp Elite ASSEMBLE!!!! Had a Great time today in South Austin at today's Elite Yelp Event!! Met a couple of Great Yelpers - Shout out to fellow Hafu Chris! Today we were invited to taste some of Cuantos best! Now they are not your run of the mill ground beef or shredded chicken which got MY taste buds salivating right away! They offer fare for the more adventurous: * Cachete - Barbacoa beef cheek meat perfectly cooked. * Buche - Tender Porch Stomach * Carnitas - Slow roasted Pernil * Longonzina - Their special Mexican chorizo * Chompiñones - Buttery griddled mushrooms mixed w salsa adodo * Suaderos - Slow roasted beef brisket. All tacos are served with onion and cilantro on two street taco sized Nixtomal Tortillas. And they were SUPER SOFT!!! Today I had the Chompiñones which were SO SO buttery I just LOVE the mushrooms as a meat alternative and the adobo with the fresh cilantro! I added sriracha which was on the table and WOW!!! I also had the Cachete which is one of my Favorite meats, these were tender with lots of favor and SUPER JUICY!!! Street tacos are my absolute fave say to eat tacos as I can slam six of them in one sitting and not feel like a super piggy!!! Hahahaha Oh!! I also tried some of their Frijoles Especiales - their charro style beans with Campenchano or brisket type mean in it. They have a slight kick to them and are FABULOUS!!! You DEF need these in your life!! The beans are cooked perfectly - not mushy at all, and the lil chunks of beef give it a great texture variation and bold beefy flavor I just loved I didn't partake in the tequila today as I have the whole Asian Blush to the EXTREME goin on and didn't feel like a trip to the emergency room (ha!) The tacos are delicious -- and they come in a few varieties which can be hard to find at other taquerias, like buche and longaniza. So it's easy to see why this place gets a lot of attention. However, at $2.75 for a tiny street taco (they are literally only 2 or 3 bites) it didn't feel like a great value. Customer service also wasn't amazing, and I had quite a bad stomach a few hours later. read more

The tacos are so good!! We got the suadero (brisket) and carnita (pork) tacos. They were 2 bites each so make sure to get around 4-6 for a full meal. Super quick to come out and service was really nice! It's surrounded by a lot of different food trucks but it's open pretty late compared to the other ones. There are picnic tables and lights next to eat to sit and eat. read more
Yum!! This place is absolutely worth stopping by. These are just great tacos. I love coming to Texas and finding some real authentic tacos. Great selection of meats to pick from and all priced extremely reasonable. I only ate two and had a side of the beans and it was filling to me for lunch. Ordered a total of 8 tacos for my gf and I but it didn't really filled me up. Their tacos are really tiny and it's a one bite and done for me. However, I enjoyed the taste of them, we order all six different flavour and I especially enjoyed the beef taco. Service is quick, we got our food in less than 10mins. I think for the value, the portion should be bigger, and therefore, it's not really worth it. I enjoyed it but probably won't return because there are better taco food trucks out there in my opinion. read more
Big fan of street tacos so when I came to Austin, I had to try Cuantos. I ordered suadero (brisket), carnitas, and longanzia (Mexican chorizo) as both a taco and a costra (street taco with melted cheese to the tortilla). All of the meat was rich, tender, and juicy. Each was complete on 100% nixtamal tortillas that had perfect texture and thinness along with fresh cilantro, onion, hot sauce. Extremely affordable pricing with kind food truck counter service. I recommend this business because they are great with customer service, quick, and organized. I wish the meat had more of a taste to it. They didn't have asada. When I think tacos I think asada. However, the guys running it today made the visit worth it. read more

The tacos here are honestly delicious and well-priced considering the flavor. Paid $2.75 per taco which I wasn't complaining about. It was evident that the fillings were juicy and it wasn't just watery because the tortillas weren't soaked, but upon taking a bite, juice would ooze out the other end. If I'm correct in my assumption of which tacos were filled with what, the brisket and mushroom (though spicy) were the best! The pork, beef cheek, and pork stomach were also really good. I didn't find the chorizo to be exceptional but I'm not partial to chorizo anyway. I would recommend trying the costra (a sort of taco with cheese grilled on the tortilla)! I came at 11:30 am on Tuesday and was able to park in the lot as well as order immediately, but the line didn't get too long as I was there either. I would visit again to try their other offerings and order the mushroom and brisket costra. The tacos were great, service was quick (even with a Yelp event at the same time) and the quesadilla was solid. Tacos options are great, (they were out of carne asada...not good) but overall tasty tacos. Salsa was good, green was low key and red was Smokey but neither were really HOT. Both were good flavors and will not kill a well versed pállate. Will definitely come back for more taco. (Side note their food truck serving smash burgers were also on point and filling! read more
I don't know what was my favorite more. The tortillas were so soft and light but the brisket was very flavorful and the veggies was so fresh. All I needed was $12.50 to come here every single day to have these tacos. They might get tired of seeing my face. I figure if I'm gonna spend some money on eating out this week for lunch. I might as well go get something really good. I have been wanting to come here for quite a while and just hadn't made it stop but I'm so glad that I did versus going to a drive-through spending money and then regretting the calories and intake and all the preservatives that are putting in their food. I can't wait to see y'all next week. OK well let me tell you about the service. The young lady that helped me was really nice and friendly. She was really kind to everyone that was orient consistently. The line was long and they have a very good location. I kind of felt bad for the competitors in the parking lot but I know they probably all support each other. All right, ambience well it was a open park and gray as long as it's not raining. Just got finished with a light dinner at this BOMB taco truck. Arrived at 7pm on a Friday with a couple of friends. Line was relatively short and moved fast. From the time we ordered until we received our food was less than 10 minutes, and it was well worth the wait. I got 3 tacos (Suadero (Brisket), Cachete (Beef Cheek), and Longaniza (Chorizo)). Suadero taco had cheese (highly recommended)! Of the 3, the brisket was the best. The two salsas included were thick and flavorful... spicy but not overwhelming. The vibe was awesome... chill but still a good energy. Lots of other food trucks, plenty of seating. Worth the hype! Got barbacoa tacos with fried cheese 10/10. Tiny tacos (3-4 bites worth) so get more if you eat a lot. Super popular and sells out quick. read more

THE BIG: Located in Arbor Food Park right in East Austin off of E 12th street. food truck with plenty of seating and private parking next to the food park. THE BLACK AND WHITE: This is my favorite taco spot in Austin. A close second is Cuantos Tacos. Just a preface, the tacos are small, but they are the closest to the street tacos I've had in Mexico City. I got 3 cachete, costra suadero, champinones tacos. All tacos are focused around the meat and the only other flavors come from the onion and cilantro. Of course with the sauce. You can't forget about the sauce! There's a couple of sauces here but what they're known for is their hot sauce with ground coffee. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the damage done was around $15 for 5 tacos. Highly recommend for the best taco place (imo) in Austin :) read more
